Synthesis,characterization and application of 3‐methyl‐1‐sulfonic acid imidazolium tetrachloroferrate as nanostructured catalyst for the tandem reaction of β‐naphthol with aromatic aldehydes and amide derivatives

3‐methyl‐1‐sulfonic acid imidazolium tetrachloroferrate {[Msim]FeCl₄} was prepared and fully characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal gravimetric (DTG), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X‐ray analysis (EDX) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and used, as an efficient catalyst, for the tandem reaction of β‐naphthol with aromatic aldehydes and benzamide at 110 °C under solvent‐free conditions to give 1‐amidoalkyl‐2‐naphthols in high yields and very short reaction times.     

Novel Route for Preparation of 7‐Methyl‐camptothecin and Its Possible Mechanism

A novel route for preparation of 7‐methyl‐camptothecin is described. Its possible mechanism is discussed.     

Simultaneous Derivative Spectrophotometric Quantification of Diethylamine Salicylate and Methyl Nicotinate in Ointments

A direct derivative, D1 i.e. dA/dλ, spectrophotometric procedure for simultaneous determination of diethylamine salicylate and methyl nicotinate in their binary mixtures and in ointments has been investigated. Good percent mean recoveries, 99.68 ± 0.58 & 99.71 ± 0.27 and 100.85 ± 0.21, could be obtained for diethylamine salicylate at 303 nm & 236 nm and methyl nicotinate at 224 nm, in order, added to ointment. The band overlapping in the first order due to the coexisting parabens, main additive, and the water-washable ointment base occurs sufficient away from those wavelengths chosen for the direct D1-measurement of both drug substances.     

Synthesis and Tuberculostatic Activity of 1,3-Thiazacycloalkyl[3,2-b]-1,2,4-triazoles

The 4-hydroxyalkyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones cyclization allowed us to work out the effective method of 1,3-thiazacycloalkyl[3,2-b]-1,2,4-triazoles synthesis. Some of the compounds that were obtained were tested for their tuberculostatic activity.     

The Synthesis of Amino Acid Methyl Ester 5′-Phosphoamidates of Protected Uridine

In this article, we used the Atherton–Todd reaction to synthesize amino acid methyl ester 5′-phosphoamidates of uridine as prodrugs. Their structures were confirmed by ¹H NMR, ³¹P NMR, ¹³C NMR, IR, and mass spectrometry.

Spectral and Thermal Studies of Some New Metal Complexes Derived from N-[(Phenylamino)Thioxomethyl] Hydrazinocarbonyl Methyl Pyridinium Chloride (PTHMPC)

New metal complexes derived from the reaction of N-[(phenylamino)thioxomethyl] hydrazino carbonyl methyl pyridinium chloride (H₂L; PTHMPC) with some metal salts of the general formula MX₂ [(X = Cl^? and/or CH₃COO^?; M = Cd(II), UO₂(II), Mn(II) and Zr(IV)] were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, spectral analyses (IR, UV-vis., ¹H NMR), thermal analyses (TGA, DTG), and conductance and magnetic measurements. The results showed that the ligand exists in metal complexes either in the keto form or in the enol form. Moreover, the IR spectral data suggest that the acetate ion behaves in a monodentate manner. Semi-empirical calculations ZINDO/1, PM3, and AM1 have been used to study the molecular geometry and the harmonic vibrational spectra of the ligand and its metal complexes with the purpose of assisting the experimental assignment of the complexes. Generally, there is an agreement between the observed and the calculated spectra. Finally, the thermodynamic parameters (ΔE*, ΔH, ΔG, and ΔS) have been calculated from the data of thermal analyses (TGA and DTG).

Iodine-Catalyzed Addition of Methyl Thioglycolate to Chalcones

Abstract

A series of novel β-mercapto carbonyl compounds (3a–z), methyl 2-(3-oxo-1,3-diarylpropylthio)acetate, were synthesized and characterized via iodine-catalyzed addition of methyl thioglycolate to chalcones (1a–z).

Study of Polymer-Cement Composite Containing Portland Cement and Aqueous Poly (methyl methacrylate) Latex Polymer by Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy

The polymer-cement composite is an immiscible band having modified morphology. Polymer phase improves the toughness of brittle cement and has a reinforcing effect, and interactions between cement components and polymers provide stability. In this study, polymer latex [poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA] – cement paste was prepared with different weight proportions of polymer content. The main scientific objective of this report has been the analysis and the prediction of high strength with the aim of understanding the interactions of PMMA polymer with Portland cement after hydration reaction of cement pastes and curing the specimens for 28 days. The samples were studied by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The results are critically examined. It is shown that bands support the interaction of PMMA with cement in the composite.
