Abstract The Orion water-hardness electrode, while being used to measure magnesium ion activity in a series of calcium-free solutions, displayed some unanticipated changes in potential. As the overall potential change observed for one solution was 183 mV (equivalent to more than six orders of magnitude changes in magnesium-ion activity), several precautions are suggested which should be observed when using this electrode for specific purposes. In particular, it is recommended that the exchanger be pre-equilibrated with an appropriate solution if the electrode is to be used in restricted systems of known chemical composition. 相似文献

Cyclic arylene ethynylene hexamer 1 , composed of alternating 2,7‐anthrylene ethynylene units and meta‐phenylene ethynylene units, was synthesized. It shows C3 symmetry and possesses a flat and rigid conformation with a large equilateral triangle‐like cavity. Macrocycle 1 self‐associates through π–π stacking interactions between the anthracene‐containing macrocyclic aromatic cores with indefinite‐association constant KE=6980 m ?1 in CDCl3 at 303 K. A new series of copolymer poly(N‐hexadecylmeth acrylamide‐co‐bis(anthracen‐9‐ylmethyl) 2‐allylmalonate) [poly(HDMA‐co‐DAnMAMA)]s containing swallow‐tailed double anthracenyl groups and long alkyl group are designed and synthesized. The main route of the photochemical reaction of the p(HDMA‐DAnMAMA)copolymer Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) films is dimerization reaction between the anthracenyl groups under the irradiation of both 365 and 248 nm for limiting irradiation time, resulting to a fine negative‐tone pattern. On the other hand, the anthracenyl groups act just as photodecomposition group under 248 nm for longer irradiation time, resulting to a fine positive‐tone pattern. Consequently, positive‐tone and negative‐tone pattern are obtained by choosing not only a suitable irradiation light wavelength, but the irradiation time at 248 nm. Moreover, it is found that the exposed and unexposed regions of copolymer LB films irradiated at 248 nm have solubility differentiation in gold etchant (I2/NH4I/C2H5OH/H2O), that is to say, the gold photopatterns with the maximal resolution of the used mask can be obtained easily without any development process. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Magnesium batteries, like lithium-ion batteries, with higher abundance and similar efficiency, have drawn great interest for large-scale applications such as electric vehicles, grid energy storage and many more. On the other hand, the use of organic electrode materials allows high energy-performance, metal-free, environmentally friendly, versatile, lightweight, and economically efficient magnesium storage devices. In particular, the structural diversity and the simple activity of organic molecules make redox properties, and hence battery efficiency, easy to monitor. While organic magnesium batteries still in their infancy, this field becomes more and more promising because significant results were reported. To summarize the achievements in studies on organic cathodes for magnesium systems, their synthesis is discussed, combined with electrode design to provide the basis for controlling the electrochemical properties. Moreover, the techniques to synthesize organic materials with high-yield are mentioned. Finally, potential problems and prospects are explored to further improve organic cathodes. 相似文献

We have studied three-dimensional (3D) structures and growth processes of 14H-type long-period stacking order (LPSO) formed in Mg97Zn1Gd2 cast alloys by single tilt-axis electron tomography (ET) using high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy. Evolution of the solute-enriched stacking faults (SFs) and the 14H LPSO by ageing were visualised in 3D with a high spatial resolution in multi-scale fields of views from a few nanometres to ~10 μm. Lateral growth of the solute-enriched SFs and the LPSO in the (0?0?0?1)Mg plane is notable compared to the out-of-plane growth in the [0?0?0?1]Mg direction. The 14H LPSO grows at the cost of decomposition of the (Mg, Zn)3Gd-type precipitates, and accompany a change of in-plane edge angles from 30 to 60°. We have updated the Time–Temperature–Transformation diagram for precipitation in Mg97Zn1Gd2 alloys: starting temperatures of both solute-enriched SFs and LPSO formation shifted to a shorter time side than those in the previous diagram. 相似文献

Thioxanthone–anthracene‐9‐carboxylic acid (TX‐ANCA) namely 14‐oxo‐14H‐naphthol [2,3‐b]thioxanten‐12‐carboxylic acid, is synthesized and characterized as part of our continuing interest for syntheses of polyaromatic initiators. Photoinitiator, TX‐ANCA have good absorption properties in the UV and visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum (ɛ370: 9080 M−1cm−1, ɛ430: 6151 M−1 cm−1). The fluorescence quantum yield is calculated as 0.1 which is slightly higher than of the parent thioxanthone compound (φf: 0.07). The phosphorescence lifetime is found to be 39 ms. The possible initiating mechanism of TX‐ANCA is based on photoexcitation of TX‐ANCA and quenching of triplet excited states of TX‐ANCA by molecular oxygen generates singlet oxygen. Singlet oxygen reacts with the anthracene moiety of TX‐ANCA possibly forms an endoperoxide. The endoperoxides undergoes photochemical or thermal decomposition to form radicals which are able to initiate free radical polymerization. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym.
