Due to their substantial fluorescence quantum yields in the crystalline phase, propeller-shaped molecules have recently gained significant attention as potential emissive materials for optoelectronic applications. For the family of cyclopentadiene derivatives, light-emission is highly dependent on the nature of heteroatomic substitutions. In this paper, we investigate excited state relaxation pathways in the tetraphenyl-furan molecule (TPF), which in contrast with other molecules in the family, shows emission quenching in the solid-state. For the singlet manifold, our calculations show nonradiative pathways associated with C-O elongation are blocked in both vacuum and the solid state. A fraction of the population can be transferred to the triplet manifold and, subsequently, to the ground state in both phases. This process is expected to be relatively slow due to the small spin-orbit couplings between the relevant singlet-triplet states. Emission quenching in crystalline TPF seems to be in line with more efficient exciton hopping rates. Our simulations help clarify the role of conical intersections, population of the triplet states and crystalline structure in the emissive response of propeller-shaped molecules. 相似文献

Gas molecules(such as CH4,CO,H2O,H2S,NH_3)adsorption on the pure and Au-doped WO3(001)surface have been studied by Density functional theory calculations with generalized gradient approximation.Based on the the calculation of adsorption energy,we found the most stable adsorption site for gas molecules by comparing the adsorption energies of different gas molecules on the WO3(001)surface.We have also compared the adsorption energy of five different gas molecules on the WO3(001)surface,our calculation results show that when the five kinds of gases are adsorbed on the pure WO3(001)surface,the order of the surface adsorption energy is CO>H2S>CH4>H2O>NH3.And the results show that NH3 is the most easily adsorbed gas among the other four gases adsorbed on the surface of pure WO3(001)surface.We also calculated the five different gases on the Au-doped WO3(001)surface.The order of adsorption energy was found to be different from the previous calculation:CO>CH4>H2S>H2O>NH3.These results provide a new route for the potential applications of Au-doped WO3 in gas molecules adsorption. 相似文献

Considering the important damage caused by the reactive oxygen (ROS) and nitrogen (RNS) species in the human organism, the need for new therapeutic agents, with superior efficacy to the known natural and synthetic antioxidants, is crucial. Quinazolin-4-ones are known for their wide range of biological activities, and phenolic compounds display an important antioxidant effect. Linking the two active pharmacophores may lead to an increase of the antioxidant activity. Therefore, we synthesized four series of new hybrid molecules bearing the quinazolin-4-one and phenol scaffolds. Their antioxidant potential was evaluated in vitro, considering different possible mechanisms of action: hydrogen atom transfer, ability to donate electrons and metal ions chelation. Theoretical quantum and thermodynamical calculations were also performed. A novel bimetallic porphyrin complex salt, {[MnTPP(CH3OH)2]3Fe(CN)6}·13H2O (TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin), has been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal is of trigonal, space group R-3 with a = b = 31.0618(10), c = 11.8366(8) (A), Z = 3, V = 9890.3(8) (A)3, C144H134FeMn3N18O19, Mr = 2641.36, Dc = 1.330 g/cm3, μ(MoΚα) = 0.463 mm-1, F(000) = 4131, R = 0.0525 and wR = 0.1382 for 3045 observed reflections (I > 2((I)). The charge distribution of taurine (2-aminoethane-sulfonic acid) is revisited by using an orbital-based method that describes the density in a fixed molecular orbital basis with variable orbital occupation numbers. A new neutron data set is also employed to explore whether this improves the deconvolution of thermal motion and charge density. A range of molecular properties that are novel for experimentally determined charge densities are computed, including Weinhold population analysis, Mayer bond orders, and local kinetic energy densities, in addition to charge topological analysis and quantum theory of atoms-in-molecules (QTAIM) integrated properties. The ease with which a distributed multipole analysis can be performed on the fitted density matrix makes it straightforward to compute molecular moments, the lattice energy, and the electrostatic interaction energies of molecules removed from the crystal. Results are compared with high-level (QCISD) gas-phase calculations and band structure calculations employing density functional theory. Finally, the avenues available for extending the range of molecular properties that can be calculated from experimental charge densities still further using this approach are discussed. 相似文献

A new approach Procedure for Investigating Categories of Vibrations (PICVib) for estimating vibrational frequencies of selected modes using only the structure and energy calculations at a more demanding computational level is presented and explored. The PICVib has an excellent performance at only a small fraction of the computational demand required for a complete analytical calculation. The errors are smaller than ca. 0.5% when DFT functionals are combined with high level ab initio methods. The approach is general because it can use any quantum chemical program and electronic structure method. It is very robust because it was validated for a wide range of frequency values (ca. 20–4800 cm–1) and systems: XH3 (D3h) with X = B, Al, Ga, N, P, As, O, S, and Se, YH4 (D4h) with Y = C, Si, and Ge, conformers of RDX, SN2 and E2 reactions, [W(dppe)2(NNC5H10)] complex, carbon nanotubes, and hydrogen‐bonded complexes including guanine‐cytosine pair. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献
