In the electrospinning process, the measurement of extension rate of the straight jet is not an easy task. In this study, the diameter profile of the tapering straight jet is determined with a laser light‐scattering technique. Afterwards, the jet extension rate () is derived and used to compare with the solution‐intrinsic rates, for example, the terminal relaxation rate and the Rouse relaxation rate. The extension rate of the straight jet depends on position: it is highest near the cone apex (region I) and decays to a constant value in the major jet (region II) until approaching the jet end (region III), at which the extension rate abruptly drops to nearly zero, that is, I >IIIII ∼ 0. The jet diameter in region III is independent of solution concentration and applied voltage, but is scaled to the flow rate with an exponent of ∼0.37. The derived exponent is consistent with a simple prediction based on the counterbalance between the stretching electric force and the compressive force induced by the air drag force. Provided that air friction becomes overwhelming at the straight jet end, the long electrified jet is likely to buckle, thereby triggering the instability of jet whipping. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper presents the results of modeling studies on the formation and destruction of NO in pulsed barrier discharges in nitrogen and air. The goals of this work are to identify the major processes involved in the formation and destruction of NO in air discharges, to distinguish between oxidative and reductive paths for NO destruction, to explore the potential importance of excited state reactions, to evaluate the role of water in such systems, and to identify the final products in the absence of heterogeneous processes. In all cases, the systems were modeled with 100×10–4% (100 ppm) of added NO, with and without 3% added water. The focus in all of this work is chemistry in the post-pulse regime.  相似文献

A methodology for the sampling and determination of airborne pesticides has been developed. The trapping efficiency of three adsorbents, namely XAD-2,XAD-4 and a sandwich sorbent (PUF-XAD2-PUF), was tested for 34 pesticides and the latter was selected because it presented the highest retention capacity without breakthrough. Pesticides were determined by gas chromatography coupled to an ion trap mass spectrometer in tandem. The method showed recoveries ranging from 70% to 120% with limits of quantification in the range of 16.1–322.6 pg m?3 when 155 m3 were sampled. This analytical strategy was applied to 10 indoor air samples collected in dwellings from the Valencian Region. Six pesticides, namely diphenylamine, pyrimethanil, bifenthrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, permethrin and cypermethrin were detected in indoor samples with concentrations ranging from 1.46 to 22.02 ng m?3.  相似文献

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are bromine flame retardants that are widely distributed in the environment. In this study, 2,2′,4,4′-tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47) was used as a model PBDE compound. Based on the preparation of BDE-47 immunogen, coating antigen and polyclonal anti-BDE-47 antibody, a highly sensitive and rapid real-time immuno-polymerase chain reaction using biological probes (BP-IPCR) was developed to detect BDE-47 in indoor airborne particles. Several physiochemical factors that might influence the assay performance were optimised, such as OVA-BDE-47 and the biological probe concentration, primer concentration and annealing temperature. Under the optimal conditions, a standard curve was constructed with BDE-47 concentrations ranging from 5 pg L?1 to 50 ng L?1. The limit of detection was 1.32 pg L?1. The BP-IPCR assay was highly selective, presenting low cross-reactivity values with BDE-47 analogues (below 5.26%). The recoveries of spiked samples were 92.6–107.9% and the coefficients of variation were 3.7–8.8%. The BP-IPCR data for the detection of BDE-47 in indoor airborne particles was consistent with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry findings (R2 = 0.9849). This immunoassay is sensitive and reliable; it can be used for specific and sensitive batch detection of BDE-47 in environmental samples.  相似文献

Summary A method is described for the determination of shortchain aliphatic amines in ambient air based on impinger sampling in dilute H2SO4, selective enrichment across a PTFE gas membrane and quantification by gas chromatography. The enrichment step is carried out in a flow system directly connected to the chromatograph. The separation is performed on a packed column with nitrogen selective detection. The enrichment per sample volume was in the range 7.3 to 8.2 mL–1 for C1–C6 amines. Detection limits were ca 3–10 nM with enrichment of a 2.9 mL liquid sample. After impinger sampling of 5 m3 air in 10 mL absorption solution, this corresponds, to 0.4–0.8 ng/m3 (ca 0.2–0.5 ppt by volume) in air.  相似文献
