The thermodynamics of guanidinium and boronic acid interactions with carboxylates, alpha-hydroxycarboxylates, and diols were studied by determination of the binding constants of a variety of different guests to four different hosts (7-10). Each host contains a different combination of guanidinium groups and boronic acids. The guests included molecules with carboxylate and/or diol moieties, such as citrate, tartrate, and fructose, among others. The Gibbs free energies of binding were determined by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, by use of indicator displacement assays. The receptor based on three guanidinium groups (7) was selective for the tricarboxylate guest. The receptors that incorporated boronic acids (8-10) had higher affinities for guests that included alpha-hydroxycarboxylate and catechol moieties over guests containing only carboxylates or alkanediols. Isothermal titration calorimetry revealed the enthalpic and entropic contributions to the Gibbs free energies of binding. The binding of citrate and tartrate was investigated with hosts 7-10, for which all the binding events were exothermic, with positive entropy. Because of the selectivity of hosts 8-10, a simple boronic acid (14) was also investigated and determined to be selective for alpha-hydroxycarboxylates and catechols over amino acids and alkanediols. Further, the cooperativity of 8 and 9 in binding tartrate was also investigated, revealing little or no cooperativity with 8, but negative cooperativity with 9. A linear entropy/enthalpy compensation relationship for all the hosts 7-10, 14, and the carboxylate-/diol-containing guests was also obtained. This relationship indicates that increasing enthalpy of binding is offset by similar losses in entropy for molecular recognition involving guanidinium and boronic acid groups.  相似文献

With the aim of optimizing the chromatographic process by avoiding any preliminary derivatizing step, we examined the chromatographic behaviour of a selected set of unconjugated bile acids looking at the dominant factors that affect the performances of three different stationary phases: RP-8, RP-18 and RP-18 Base Deactivated (RP-18-BD). Accordingly to its structural peculiarity, the RP-18-BD column combined with a specific mobile phase has proved to be the most suitable one, in enhancing both separation factor α and resolution R S within the selected set of analytes. Pronounced changes in the chromatographic profiles by only slightly changing the mobile phase composition (pH, buffer concentration, percentage and kind of organic modifier) prompted us to achieve satisfactory results in the separation and resolution of the selected set of bile acids.Presented at: CE in the Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industries: 7th symposium on the practical applications for the analysis of proteins, nucleotides and small molecules, Montreal, Canada, August 12–16, 2005.An erratum to this article can be found at  相似文献

We have conducted a high-level quantum chemistry study of the interactions of 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME) with water for complexes representing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic hydration. It was found that our previous quantum chemistry-based force field for poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and its oligomers in aqueous solution did a poor job in describing the hydrophobic binding of water to the ether, consistent with our recent calculations of the excess free energy and entropy of hydration of DME. Our original force field was revised to more accurately reproduce the interaction of water with the carboneous portions of DME. Molecular dynamics simulations of aqueous DME solutions using the revised quantum chemistry-based potential yielded good agreement with experiment for excess free energy, enthalpy, and volume as well as excess solution viscosity and the self-diffusion of water. Comparison with our original potential revealed that the relatively hydrophobic ether-water interactions in the new potential strongly reduced the favorable excess free energy and enthalpy but have relatively little influence on the excess entropy for dilute DME solutions. Other properties of DME and PEO solutions including conformational populations and dynamics, solution viscosity, hydrogen bonding, water translational and rotational diffusion and neutron structure factor as a function of solution composition were found to be largely unchanged from those obtained using the original potential.  相似文献

Due to their high polarity and unique selectivity, cyanopropyl silicones are basic stationary phases for high resolution capillary gas chromatography. Different OH-terminated cyanopropyl silicones, containing a high cyanopropyl content, were synthesized and chromatographically evaluated. Special attention was paid to the degree of immobilization of the phases in FSOT columns. Depending on the problem at hand, a choice has to be made between immobilization and maximum selectivity.  相似文献

We have used gas chromatography to study the interaction of water and methanol molecules with active hydrophilic centers on the surface of thermally expanded graphite and graphitized thermal carbon black. We have determined the concentration of carboxyl and phenol hydroxyl groups on the surface of the sorbents and the heats of adsorption for adsorption of the studied substances on these groups. We have shown that water molecules are adsorbed as clusters on the hydrophilic centers of the studied sorbents at very low relative pressures, with n = 2 molecules in the cluster.  相似文献

采用FT-IR,XPS,WAXD,DXC,凝胶和表面自由能力分析,研究了氧化氛中紫外辐照官能化高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)的化学结构、晶体结构和表面自由能的变化。与空气相比,在氧气氛中紫外辐照HDPE能提高C-O,C(=O)O和C=O等含氧基团的引入速度,同时又能降低HDPE中的凝胶含量,在空气和氧气氛中紫外辐照后,HDPE的晶型没有发生变化,仍为正交晶系;HDPE的晶胞参数a,b,c以及(110),(200),(020),(011),(111)等晶面间距基本保持不变;HDPE的熔融温度下降,但熔融热焓升高,结晶度增大,表面自由能增大,且在氧气氛中辐照HDPE的变化幅度较大。  相似文献

Linear trigermoxanes, R1 RGeOGe(R3)2OGeRR1, a new series of organogermanium compounds, were synthesized by reaction of a lithium organogermanolate with a suitable organogermanium dihalide. With alkyl or phenyl substituents, these trigermoxanes are structurally unstable viscous oils, due to redistribution reactions. When R3 substituents are bulky groups, such as mesityl, trigermoxanes are thermally and structurally stable oils; depending on the R1 and R2 substituents their viscosities lie in the range 240 to more than 1500 cPo (mPa s) at 20°C. When both terminal germanium atoms are substituted with two mesityl groups, trigermoxanes are stable glassy solids.  相似文献

Propene was polymerized at 40°C and 2-bar propene in toluene using methylalumoxane (MAO) activated rac-Me2Si(Benz[e]Indenyl)2ZrCl2 ( BI ) and rac-Me2Si(2-Me-Benz[e]Indenyl)2ZrCl2 ( MBI ). Catalyst BI /MAO polymerizes propene with high activity to afford low molecular weight polypropylene, whereas MBI /MAO is less active and produces high molecular weight polypropylene. Variation of reaction conditions such as propene concentration, temperature, concentration of catalyst components, and addition of hydrogen reveals that the lower molecular weight polypropylene produced with BI /MAO results from chain transfer to propene monomer following a 2,1-insertion. A large fraction of both metallocene catalyst systems is deactivated upon 2,1-insertion. Such dormant sites can be reactivated by H2-addition, which affords active metallocene hydrides. This effect of H2-addition is reflected by a decreasing content of head-to-head enchainment and the formation of polypropylene with n-butyl end groups. Both catalysts show a strong dependence of activity on propene concentration that indicates a formal reaction order of 1.7 with respect to propene. MBI /MAO shows a much higher dependence of the activity on temperature than BI /MAO. At elevated temperatures, MBI /MAO polymerizes propene faster than BI /MAO. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The SIBFA procedure (Sum of Interactions Between Fragments computedAb initio, Ref [1]) is extended to the study of the conformational behavior of representative molecules containing amide nitrogens and carbonyl and carboxylate oxygens. The molecules studied are C- and N-ethylammonium formamide, C- and N-ethanol-formamide, ethylammonium formate and ethanolformate. The cases investigated include interactions of the types which occur between functional groups in proteins or ionophores. The accuracy of the procedure, assessed by comparing the results to those of correspondingab initio SCF computations, is very satisfactory. An application of the procedure to study the conformation of the glycyl and alanyl dipeptides as a function of the backbone torsional angles and is presented.  相似文献

Summary A possibility of obtaining insoluble gels with the help of freezing-thawing procedures was demonstrated on an example of aqueous solutions of a thiol-containing poly(acryl amide) derivative.
