Transition metal molybdates of the formulaAMoO4 whereA=Fe, Co or Ni exhibit a first-order phase transition between 670K–970K. An investigation of the lowtemperature (lt) and high-temperature (ht) phases by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility and other physical methods shows that the phase transition is associated with a valence change of the typeA 2++Mo6+αA 3++Mo5+ in the cases of iron and cobalt molybdates. A molecular dynamics study of the dark adapted visual pigment rhodopsin molecule was carried out. The interaction of the chromophore group, 11-cis-retinal, with the nearest amino acid residues in the chromophore center of the molecule, namely, in the region of the protonated Schiff base linkage, was analyzed. Most likely, the interaction of the CH=NH bond with the negatively charged amino acid residue Glu113 cannot be described as a simple electrostatic interaction of two oppositely charged groups. One can propose that not only Glu113 but also Glu181 and Ser186 are involved in stabilization of the protonated Schiff base linkage. Accord-ing to calculations, Glu181 interacts, as the counter-ion, with the Schiff base indirectly via Ser186. The intramolecular mechanisms of protonated Schiff base stabilization in rhodopsin are discussed. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. The phase transitions of Ba2-xSrxIn2O5 were investigated with various thermal analyses and high-temperature X-ray diffraction. It was clarified that crystal structure of Ba2-xSrxIn2O5 with x=0.0~0.4 varies from brownmillerite through distorted perovskite to another distorted perovskite with increase of temperature. The phase transition from brownmillerite to distorted perovskite was revealed to be first order, whereas transition from distorted perovskite to another one was second order. The specimen with x≥0.5 showed only one first order phase transition from brownmillerite to distorted perovskite. The phase diagram of Ba2-xSrxIn2O5 was established and existence of tricritical point at ~1100°C with x=0.4~0.5 was suggested. The focus of this review is on host-guest composites with photonic antenna properties. The material generally consists of cylindrical zeolite L crystals the channels of which are filled with dye molecules. The synthesis is based on the fact that molecules can diffuse into individual channels. This means that, under the appropriate conditions, they can also leave the zeolite by the same way. In some cases, however, it is desirable to block their way out by adding a closure molecule. Functionalization of the closure molecules allows tuning of, for example, wettability, refractive index, and chemical reactivity. The supramolecular organization of the dyes inside the channels is a first stage of organization. It allows light harvesting within a certain volume of a dye-loaded nanocrystalline zeolite and radiationless transport to both ends of the cylinder or from the ends to the center. The second stage of organization is the coupling to an external acceptor or donor stopcock fluorophore at the ends of the channels, which can trap or inject electronic excitation energy. The third stage of organization is the coupling to an external device through a stopcock molecule. The wide-ranging tunability of these highly organized materials offers fascinating new possibilities for exploring excitation-energy-transfer phenomena, and challenges for developing new photonic devices.  相似文献

Summary A rapid, simple and reproducible reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the quantitative determination of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bis-demethoxycurcumin in ethanolic extracts of turmeric. The pigments were separated on a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer column (Hamilton PRP-1), using an acetonitrile-water (5545, v/v) mobile phase. The pigments were monitored with a diode-array detector at 425 nm. The limit of detection was 10.2 ng curcumin, 11.1 ng demethoxycurcumin and 6.2 ng bis-demethoxycurcumin. Comparison of HPLC and spectrophotometric results for the determination of the total curcuminoid content for a number of turmeric samples, reveal that the spectrophotometric method invariably yielded higher results, indicating an overestimation of curcuminoids.  相似文献

The applicability of the MINDO/3 method is evaluated for calculations on dipyrrolic partial structures of bile pigments. It is shown that this method cannot be used for an accurate conformational analysis. However, when applying the frontier orbital model for reactivity parameters, a good picture of the HOMO and the LUMO distribution can be obtained in this type of molecules.

Zusammenfassung Es werden die Einsatzmöglichkeiten von MINDO/3 für den Fall dipyrrolischer Partialstrukturen der Gallenpigmente aufgezeigt. Die Methode ist für eine genaue Konformationsanalyse nicht geeignet. Unter Verwendung der Reaktionsparameter des Frontier-Orbital-Modells läßt sich jedoch ein gutes Bild der HOMO- und LUMO-Verteilung für diesen Verbindungstyp gewinnen.

The metastable binary compound hp‐CuBi was obtained from the direct chemical reaction between copper and bismuth at a pressure of 5 GPa and a temperature of 720 K. The atomic arrangement comprises slabs of puckered Cu layers sandwiched between Bi planes. The QTAIM charges calculated for compounds of bismuth with transition metals reveal negligible charge transfer for hp‐CuBi. Analysis of the chemical bonding with position‐space techniques discloses multicenter interactions within the Bi‐Cu‐Bi slabs and lone‐pair interactions of the van der Waals type between these entities. hp‐CuBi exhibits metal‐type electrical conductivity with superconductivity below Tc=1.3 K.  相似文献

Prints are one of the most popular artistic forms. They consist of an original matrix that is printed on a paper support. The stamps are part of a series, and each series is composed of a particular number of prints. Many contemporary prints are made using oil inks and synthetic pigments (reds and yellows). Inks are mainly composed of pigments (organic or inorganic) and a binding medium. The analysis of inks has the potential to facilitate and complement the identification of stamps of different origins.

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) are techniques that are typically available in museums and centers related to the study of works of art. Both can be classified as micro-destructive and provide complementary information about the organic and some inorganic compounds (FTIR), and the elemental composition (SEM-EDX). In this article, the two techniques were used to analyze the composition of red ink in prints. As a result of these analyses, it was possible to distinguish among nearly all of the pigments and inks, indicating that the composition of the red ink can be reliably used to differentiate between stamps of different origins in a series of prints.  相似文献

Composite diamond anvils have been developed for high-pressure/high-temperature measurements of diamond anvil cells. The anvils are fabricated using single-crystal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) from previously used and/or slightly damaged anvils made of natural or synthetic diamond. These composite anvils can be fabricated to possess optical characteristics at least comparable to conventional diamond anvils, whereas the single-crystal CVD portion is more durable because of its enhanced toughness relative to natural diamond. The viability of such anvils is demonstrated in measurements on hydrogen at megabar pressures and high temperature.  相似文献
