The TG-FTIR technique was used in the present study to investigate the thermal degradation behaviour of materials containing
brominated flame retardants under fire conditions. Time-temperature profiles and oxygen concentrations typical of selected
fire scenarios were reproduced in the thermogravimetric analyzer, while the characterization of the gaseous products generated
was performed by the simultaneous FTIR analysis. FTIR analysis combined with the use of specific calibration procedures allowed
the quantitative estimation of the gaseous products evolved as a function of experimental conditions. The results obtained
allowed the straightforward assessment and the comparison of the quantities of hydrogen bromide formed in the oxidation and
thermal degradation of pure brominated flame retardants and of flame retarded materials of industrial interest. Hydrogen bromide
yields resulted dependent on the experimental conditions used, such as oxygen concentration and heating rate. Although TG-FTIR
experiments only provide a representation of the actual heterogeneous combustion products in real fire conditions, the coupled
TG-FTIR technique proved to be a straightforward experimental methodology allowing one to obtain reference data on the nature
and quantities of the macropollutants generated in a fire.

AbstractSeparation of amino acids (AAs) and their simple and inexpensive determination/identification is an interesting topic in biological and protein science, different food industries, and drug factories. Also, the presentation of the chromatographic behavior of compounds in a predictive model can be effective to estimate the structural/chemical properties of analyte and mobile phases. In this work for the first time, retardation factor (RF) of 42 AAs in reversed-phase thin layer chromatography (RP-TLC) was modeled. Acetonitrile-sodium azide solution and 1,2 dioxane-sodium azide solution were two mobile phases which have been studied in this work. Results showed that the values of RF are correlated with the structural properties of AAs and these properties had some similarities and differences in two noted mobile phases. For the TLC data in two mobile phases, five parametric linear models were suggested (R2train = 0.93 and 0.97; R2test = 0.93 and 0.99). The models were also evaluated with different statistical approaches. It was shown that increasing the sum of geometrical distances between N and O in AAs causes decreasing their RF in RP-TLC using both mobile phases. Other structural effects of AAs on their separation in the desired RP-TLC system were also discussed. 相似文献

Chromatography has been an important tool in marine laboratories. Since the 1960s, marine laboratories have been involved in the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and brominated flame retardants (BFRs). Column chromatography and liquid chromatography (LC) techniques have been used, mainly in the clean-up phase, while gas chromatography (GC) has been used extensively in the final determination of these contaminants. Developments have been observed from the use of packed GC columns, via capillary columns to the use of heart-cut multi-dimensional GC and comprehensive multi-dimensional GC. The progress made in interlaboratory studies and the availability of certified reference materials are discussed. 相似文献

The oxidative degradation of HET-acid (1,4,5,6,7,7-hexachlorobicyclo [2.2.1] hept-5-en-2, 3-dicarboxylic acid) is studied by the combination of TG, FTIR, MS and GC-MS. The gases evolved during the decomposition of this flame retardant are investigated on-line by FTIR and by MS. Simultaneously the evolved gases are collected by an adsorbent and, after the thermal experiment, desorbed to release the volatile products for identification using GC-MS. The combination of these techniques offers the unambiguous identification of the evolved products as a function of temperature. The main identified products are CO2, H2O, Cl2, HCl, C2Cl4, maleic acid anhydride, HET-acid anhydride, chlorinated cyclic hydrocarbons and chlorinated unsaturated linear hydrocarbons. 相似文献

The effect of six organophosphorus compounds, including Pyrovatex CP (PCP), diammonium phosphate (DAP), phosphoric acid (PA), tributyl phosphate (TBP), triallyl phosphate (TAP) and triallyl phosphoric triamide (TPT) on the flame retardancy of cotton cellulose was studied. PCP, PA, and DAP are more efficient compared with the other three compounds in improving the limiting oxygen index (LOI) of cotton. The effectiveness of these compounds was investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of char formed after LOI tests, char content, activation energy of decomposition and heat of combustion data. SEM images showed that DAP, PCP and PA chars maintain the surface morphology during the burning process, which might be due to the formation of a protective layer or crosslinking effect. PA, PCP, and DAP treated fabrics have a higher activation energy of decomposition, higher char content and lower heat of combustion. 相似文献

Two series of phosphorus‐containing aromatic poly(ester amide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.46–3.20 dL/g were prepared by low‐temperature solution polycondensation from 1,4‐bis(3‐aminobenzoyloxy)‐2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz〈c,e〉〈1,2〉oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl)naphthalene and 1,4‐bis(4‐aminobenzoyloxy)‐2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz〈c,e〉〈1,2〉oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl)naphthalene with various aromatic diacid chlorides. All the poly(ester amide)s were amorphous and readily soluble in many organic solvents, such as N,N‐dimethylformamide, N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP). Transparent, tough, and flexible films of these polymers were cast from DMAc and NMP solutions. Their casting films had tensile strengths of 71–214 MPa, elongations to break of 5–10%, and initial moduli of 2.3–6.0 GPa. These poly(ester amide)s had glass‐transition temperatures of 209–239 °C (m‐series) and 222–267 °C (p‐series). The degradation temperatures at 10% weight loss in nitrogen for these polymers ranged from 462 to 489 °C, and the char yields at 800 °C were 55–63%. Most of the poly(ester amide)s also showed a high char yield of 35–45%, even at 800 °C under a flow of air. The flame retardant effect of newly synthesized phosphorus-containing reactive amine, which can be used both as crosslinking agent in epoxy resins and as a flame retardant, was investigated. The effect of montmorillonite and sepiolite additives on the fire induced degradation was compared to pristine epoxy resin. The effect of combining the organophosphorous amine with clay minerals was also studied. It could be concluded that the synthesized phosphorus-containing amine, TEDAP can substitute the traditional epoxy resin curing agents providing additionally excellent flame retardancy: the epoxy resins flame retarded this way reach 960 °C GWFI value, 33 LOI value and V-0 UL-94 rating - compared to the 550 °C GWFI value, 21 LOI value and “no rate” UL-94 classification of the reference epoxy resin. The peak of heat release was reduced to 1/10 compared to non-flame retarded resin, furthermore a shift in time was observed, which increases the time to escape in case of fire. The flame retardant performance can be further improved by incorporating clay additives: the LOI and the HRR results showed that the optimum of flame retardant effect of clay additives is around 1 mass% filler level in AH-16-TEDAP system. Applying a complex method for mechanical and structural characterization of the intumescent char it was determined that the flame retarded system forms significantly more and stronger char of better uniformity with smaller average bubble size. Incorporation of clay additives (owing to their bubble nucleating activity) results in further decrease in average bubble diameter. 相似文献
