Essential and continuous spectrum of symmetric difference equations

Essential and continuous spectrum of symmetric difference equations have been investigated. It has been shown that the deficiency indices and the existence of these components of the spectrum are determined by the growth conditions of the coefficients. In particular, the deficiency indices are superimposition of those clusters determined by the coefficient growth. Finally, we have proved the neccessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of essential spectrum of selfadjoint subspace extensions using subspace theory and asymtotic summation.     

Weighted differentiation composition operator from logarithmic Bloch spaces to Bloch‐type spaces

In this paper, we give a new characterization for the boundedness of weighted differentiation composition operator from logarithmic Bloch spaces to Bloch‐type spaces and calculate its essential norm in terms of the n‐th power of induced analytic self‐map on the unit disk. From which a sufficient and necessary condition of compactness of this operator follows immediately.     

-Weyl's theorem for operator matrices

If is a upper triangular matrix on the Hilbert space , then -Weyl's theorem for and need not imply -Weyl's theorem for , even when . In this note we explore how -Weyl's theorem and -Browder's theorem survive for operator matrices on the Hilbert space.

     

Essential dynamics/factor analysis for the interpretation of molecular dynamics trajectories

Subject of this work is the analysis of molecular dynamics (MD) trajectories of neurophysins I (NPI) and II (NPII) and their complexes with the neurophyseal nonapeptide hormones oxytocin (OT) and vasopresssin (VP), respectively, simulated in water. NPs serve in the neurosecretory granules as carrier proteins for the hormones before their release to the blood. The starting data consisted of two pairs of different trajectories for each of the (NPII/VP)2 and (NPI/OT)2 heterotetramers and two more trajectories for the NPII2 and NPI2 homodimers (six trajectories in total). Using essential dynamics which, to our judgement, is equivalent to factor analysis, we found that only about 10 degrees of freedom per trajectory are necessary and sufficient to describe in full the motions relevant for the function of the protein. This is consistent with these motions to explain about 90% of the total variance of the system. These principal degrees of freedom represent slow anharmonic motional modes, clearly pointing at distinguished mobility of the atoms involved in the protein's functionality.     

Asymptotic Behaviour of the Number of Labelled Essential Acyclic Digraphs and Labelled Chain Graphs

We provide an asymptotic formula for the number of labelled essential DAGs a_n and show that lim_na_n/a_n=c, where a_n is the number of labelled DAGs and c13.65, which is interesting in the field of Bayesian networks. Furthermore, we present an asymptotic formula for the number of labelled chain graphs.Acknowledgment. Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of the Essential Oil of Origanum × dolichosiphon P. H. Davis

The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from aerial parts ofOriganum × dolichosiphonP. H. Davis (Lamiaceae), a hybrid ofO. AmanumPost ×O. LaevigatumBoiss., was analyzed by GC/MS. Ninety-five compounds were characterized representing 92% of the oil. The major compounds were bicyclogermacrene (19.9%),-caryophyllene (13.0%), and germacrene D (10.8%). The antimicrobial activity of the oil was also determined     

Toeplitz Operators with Semi-Almost-Periodic Matrix Symbols on Hardy Spaces

We establish a Fredholm criterion and an index formula for Toeplitz operators with semi-almost-periodic matrix symbols on the Hardy spaces H ^p (1<p<). Our main result completes the Fredholm theory of the aforementioned operators and generalizes previous results, which concerned the case p=2 or were based on certain additional assumptions, such as factorizability, for the almost-periodic representatives of the symbol.     

Densité des Points à Coordonnées Multiplicativement Indépendantes

Nous montrons que pour toute sous-variété algébrique d'un tore multiplicatif (non contenue dans un sous-groupe algébrique propre), on peut choisir un ensemble Zariski dense de points algébriques de hauteur contrôlée, dont toutes les coordonnées sont multiplicativement indépendantes. Cet énoncé précise et généralise un théorème de S. Zhang qui lie la hauteur projective d'une varété au minimum essentiel de la hauteur des points algébriques de celle-ci. En tenant compte d'un résultat précédent des auteurs sur le problème de Lehmer généralisé à un tore, nous en déduisons une minoration pour la hauteur normalisée d'une sous-variété d'un tore. Cette dernière est optimale à un «-prés» en le degré géométrique de la variété étudiée (confer une conjecture du second auteur avec P. Philippon).In this article, we prove that on any subvariety of a multiplicative torus which is not contained in a proper algebraic subgroup, one can find a Zariski dense set of algebraic points of small height whose coordinates are multiplicatively independent. This statement generalizes an earlier result of S. Zhang which links the projective height of a variety with the essential minimum of its algebraic points. Taking into account an earlier result of the authors on the Lehmer problem generalized to a multiplicative torus, one deduces a lower bound for the normalized height of subvarieties of multiplicative groups. This lower bound is optimal up to an in the geometric degree of the variety studied (confer a conjecture by the second author and P. Philippon).     

A bracket power characterization of analytic spread one ideals

The main theorem characterizes, in terms of bracket powers, analytic spread one ideals in local rings. Specifically, let be regular nonunits in a local (Noetherian) ring and assume that , the integral closure of , where . Then the main result shows that for all but finitely many units in that are non-congruent modulo and for all large integers and it holds that for and not divisible by , where is the -th bracket power of . And, conversely, if there exist positive integers , , and such that has a basis such that , then has analytic spread one.
