An electropolymerization of haloalkylhalosilanes (Cl? R? SiCH3Cl2) that possess two types of electroactive sites, that is, the C? Cl and Si? Cl bond is described. The one‐pot synthesis method is shown to yield branched polycarbosilanes having a regular carbon block‐spaced silicon backbone structure. A series of branched polycarbosilanes, [? R? SiCH3? ]n with R being ? CH2? , ? C2H4? , ? C3H6? , and ? CH2? C6H4? C2H4? , have been successfully electropolymerized with Mn up to 42,600 Dalton. Experimental and simulation cyclic voltammetry of these monomers and the computational examination of their LUMOs are applied to study the electropolymerization mechanism. The results suggest that polymerization proceeds by iterating steps involving (1) electroreduction of a C? Cl bond to a carbanion, which is catalyzed by silylanion radical [Cl SiCl(CH3)RCl] and/or Ni(0)/TDA‐1; and (2) nucleophilic attack of carbanions to Si? Cl bonds of a second monomer or oligomer to extend the polymer chain. The investigation reveals that the R spacer has a considerable impact on the polymerizability of the corresponding monomer. Such interfacial polymerization resembles a template polymerization, leading to unique microstructures that were preserved even after converted to silicon carbide ceramics at high temperatures. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of two new azo phenyl thiourea compounds and their optical response to different anions is reported herein. Solution studies in methanol indicate that cyanide induces a colour change in these dyes (whereas no changes are observed in the presence of other anions, such as F(-), Cl(-), Br(-), CH(3)COO(-), H(2)PO(4) (-), HSO(4) (-)). Interestingly, in DMSO these dyes are responsive not only to cyanide, but also to fluoride, acetate and dihydrogen phosphate. Each of these anions induces a different colour change. In the second part of the paper, we report the attachment of one of these dyes onto nanostructured TiO(2) and Al(2)O(3) films. The stability of these sensitised films to pH was studied and we concluded that the sensitised Al(2)O(3) films are more robust, and hence, better than the TiO(2) for anion sensing. The dye-sensitised Al(2)O(3) films were immersed in solutions of different anions and their response studied. The films can detect cyanide down to 3 ppm in aqueous solution with relatively good selectivity over other anions.  相似文献

A series of fluorescent phosphane oxide derivatives based on diphenylphosphanoethane (DPPE) and diphenylphosphanomethane (DPPM) skeletons has been prepared by means of Grignard reactions and Sonogashira cross-couplings. The photophysical properties and the linear and nonlinear spectra of these compounds have been investigated. An edge-to-face conformation resulting in the formation of an excimer was confirmed by fluorescence lifetime measurements of these multichromophoric derivatives. Upon complexation with heavy metal ions such as Pb2+ and Cd2+, a red shift of the one- and two-photon excitation spectra was observed in the absorption and emission spectra. Furthermore, enhancement of the electron-withdrawing character of the phosphane oxide resulted in a significant enhancement of the two-photon absorption cross-section, leading to the first biphotonic Cd2+ sensors combining high affinity for Cd2+, large two-photon absorption cross-sections, and significant enhancement of the two-photon excited fluorescence in the presence of the cation. Such derivatives are highly promising for incorporation into devices for the detection of heavy metal ions in water and effluents.  相似文献

Ratiometric fluorescence-based sensors are widely sought after because they can effectively convert even relatively small changes in optical output into a strong and easy-to-read signal. However, ratiometric sensor molecules are usually difficult to make. We present a proof-of-principle experiment that shows that efficient ratiometric sensing may be achieved by an array of two chromophores, one providing an on-to-off response and the second yielding an off-to-on response in a complementary fashion. In the case that both chromophores emit light of different color, the result is a switching of colors that may be utilized in the same way as from a true ratiometric probe. The chromophore array comprises two sensor elements: i) a polyurethane membrane with embedded N-anthracen-9-yl-methyl-N-7-nitrobenzoxa-[1,2,5]diazo-4-yl-N',N'-dimethylethylenediamine hydrochloride and ii) a membrane with N,N-dimethyl-N'-(9-methylanthracenyl)ethylenediamine. A combination of photoinduced electron transfer (PET) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) allows for green-to-blue emission switching in the presence of Zn(II) ions. The sensing experiments carried out with different Zn(II) salts at controlled pH revealed that the degree of color switching in the individual sensor elements depends on both the presence of Zn(II) ions and the counter anion. These results suggest that sensing of both cations and anions may perhaps be extended to different cation-anion pairs.  相似文献

A grapevine nanostructure based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) covalently functionalized with [60]fullerene (C60) has been synthesized and characterized in detail. Investigations into the ball-on-tube carbon nanostructure by ESR spectroscopy indicate a tendency for ground-state electron transfer from the SWNT to the C60 moieties. The cyclic-voltammetric response of the nanostructure film exhibits reversible multiple-step electrochemical reactions of the dispersed C60, which are strikingly similar to those of the C60 derivatives in solution, but with consistent negative shifts in the redox potential. This results from the covalent linkage of C60 to the surfaces of the SWNTs in the form of monomers and manifests the electronic interaction between the C60 and SWNT moieties.  相似文献

Two dendrimers were designed and synthesized that contain a 1,3,5-trisubstituted benzenoid core and incorporate 9 and 21 viologen (4,4'-bipyridinium) units in their branches in addition to hydrophilic (aryloxy) terminal groups. For comparison purposes, model compounds containing one and two viologen units were also studied. These polycationic dendrimers form strong host-guest complexes with the dianionic form of the red dye eosin in dilute CH(2)Cl(2) solutions. Titration experiments, based on fluorescence measurements, showed that each viologen unit in the dendritic structures becomes associated with an eosin dianion. Electrochemical (in MeCN) and photosensitization (in CH(2)Cl(2)) experiments revealed that only a fraction of the viologen units present in the dendritic structures can be reduced. This fraction corresponds to the number of viologen units present in the outer shells of the dendrimers. The reasons for incomplete charge pooling are discussed. Comparison with the behavior of polyviologen dendrimers that are terminated with bulky tetraarylmethane groups and were studied previously enabled the role played by the terminal groups in the redox and hosting properties to be elucidated.  相似文献
