Excess molar volumes V E and excess molar heat capacities C P /E at constant pressure have been obtained, as a function of mole fraction x1, for several binary liquid mixtures belonging either to series I: pyridine+n-alkane (ClH2l+2), with l=7, 10, 14, 16, or series II: piperidine+n-alkane, with l=7, 8, 10, 12, 14. The instruments used were a vibrating-tube densimeter and a Picker flow microcalorimeter, respectively. V E of pyridine+n-heptane shows a S-shaped composition dependence with a small negative part in the region rich in pyridine (x1>0.90). All the other systems show positive V E only. The excess volumes increase with increasing chain length l of the n-alkane. The excess molar heat capacities of the mixtures belonging to series II are all negative, except for a small positive part for piperidine+n-heptane in the region rich in piperidine (x1>0.87). The C P /E at the respective minima, C P /E (x1,min ), become more negative with increasing l, and the x1,min values range from about 0.26 (l=7) to 0.39 (l=14). Most interestingly, mixtures of series I exhibit curves of C P /E against x1 with two minima and one maximum, the so-called W-shape curves.Dedicated to Professor A. Polyvinylchloride has been chemically modified with sodium benzene thiolate at different temperatures, in solvents promoting the formation of polymer gels, in solvents favoring light polymer interactions and in the absence of solvent, that is, in the melt. From the13C-NMR results it is shown that the substitution reactions on PVC, in all media and temperatures studied, are stereospecific and the nature of substituted chlorines the same.The glass transition temperature of modified polymers has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry. The glass transition temperature of the modified polymers in the absence of solvent decreases linearly with degree of substitution. When the reaction is carried out in solvents containing carbonyl groups, such as diethyl malonate, cyclohexanone and 2-butanone, the evolution of the glass transition up to about 25% substitution does not follow the above behavior. At higher levels of substitution the evolution ofT g is similar to that in the melt. For the ether-containing solvents, such as tetrahydrofurane and dioxane, the evolution lies between the two previous curves.When the reactions of PVC with sodium benzene thiolate are carried out in cyclohexanone at different temperatures, between 15–90°C, the evolution of the glass transition temperature with conversion is different for each temperature, and if the reaction temperature increases, the slope of the initial part moves to that in the absence of solvent.These results are related to the formation of PVC gels or interactions. As the nature and percentage of substituted chlorine for a given chemical composition are the same in all the solvents and conditions studied, we propose that Cl-atoms of isotactic and/or heterotactic configurations are implied in the formation of PVC gels or interactions.  相似文献

This study deals with the use of ethanol as washing solvent in the preparation of the silica gels from sodium silicate in order to enhance the textural properties, especially surface area. We here examined the effect of ethanol-washing on surface area, micro- and mesopore volume, and average pore size. The silica xerogels prepared from sodium silicate solution exhibited an extremely high surface area of 1139 m2/g by washing their hydrogels with ethanol. Compared to water-washed xerogels, ethanol-washed xerogels showed higher surface areas, total pore volumes, and larger average pore sizes. Unlike the surface area of water-washed xerogel, that of the ethanol-washed xerogel was not affected by the silica concentration of initial solution. This study indicates that the textural properties of sodium silicate-derived xerogels are further enhanced by using ethanol as washing solvent.  相似文献

The scaled-particle theory has been applied to the calculation of the thermodynamic changes associated with the formation of a cavity in several isotopic varieties of liquid water and methanol. From these results, the thermodynamic functions for the transfer of a cavity (or a hard-sphere solute) have been computed for the following solvent pairs: H2OD2O, H2OH2 18O, H2 18OD2 18O, D2OD2 18O, CH3OHCH3OD. For the last two of these solvents, density measurements required for the calculations were carried out as a function of temperature. The calculated deuterium solvent isotope effect on the heats and entropies of hard-sphere solutes in water is much greater than the18O isotope effect; the former also exhibits a more pronounced temperature dependence. The transfer functions computed for hard-sphere solutes are compared to experimental data on the transfer of various solutes from H2O to D2O and from CH3OH to CH3OD. In most of the cases examined, the cavity effect accounts for a large part of the transfer quantities measured for rare gases, hydrocarbons, and solutes containing a significant hydrocarbon substituent.  相似文献

A series of dilute liquid crystalline solvents are used to study the effect of slight anisotropy caused by partial alignment on chemical shift and residual dipolar coupling (RDC) in small molecules. The residual dipolar couplings between protons in solutes are found to be almost independent of the local environment. It is also found that the chemical shift does not change over the concentration range observed. A linear relationship between residual dipolar coupling and liquid crystal concentration is observed at relatively low concentrations, but is severely violated at high concentrations.  相似文献

Conductometric measurements of tetrabutylammonium perchlorate in propylene carbonate-acetonitrile and propylene carbonate-toluene mixtures at 25°C are reported. Limiting molar conductances, association constants and distance of closest approach of ions are calculated. The experimental data were analyzed by means of the Lee-Wheaton equation. The Gilkerson's solvent-solute interaction energy term was calculated from a plot of association constant logarithmvs. reciprocal dielectric constant.  相似文献

The lithium chloride/1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone (LiCl/DMI) solvent system for cellulose was adopted as a mobile phase of size-exclusion chromatographic (SEC) analysis of cellulose, and the applicability of this system was examined using multi-angle laser light scattering and 13C-NMR analysis. The results indicate that 8% (w/v) LiCl/DMI ID a true solvent for cellulose, and that cellulose molecules dissolving ID 1% (w/v) LiCl/DMI are separated orderly depending on their molecular mass (MM) or root-mean-square (RMS) radius by the SEC system. Practically, no aggregates were detected ID the dilute cellulose/LiCl/DMI solutions. Furthermore, high stability of cellulose/LiCl/DMI solutions has been demonstrated; only a few percent of decline ID average MM was observed even after storage for 6 months at room temperature. Relationships between RMS radius and MM for hardwood bleached kraft pulp ID 1% LiCl/DMI was estimated as the following equation: g0.59, corresponding to a Mark–Houwink–Sakurada exponent of 0.77.  相似文献

Pseudo-stationary phases for electrokinetic chromatography were prepared by the alkylation of starburst dendrimers (SBDs). The SBD-supported pseudo-stationary phase with dodecyl groups showed higher efficiency than short-akyl derivatives, and maintained the hydrophobic property inthe presence of methanol. The dodecyl-modified SBD provided wide migration time windows ar high methanol content to effect the separation of sixteen aromatic hydrocarbons, the priority pollutants designated by EPA, in 65% methanol. The selectivity of polymer-supported pseudo-stationary phase can be varied simply by changing the length of the alkyl groups. The dodecyl SBD showed relatively similar selectivity as sodium dodecyl culfate micelle, whereas short alkyl derivatives showed preference towards rigid and planar compounds based on the rigid and planar compounds based on the rigid polymer backbones. The selectivity of SBD-supported pseudo-stationary phases was dominated by the chain length of the alkyl groups, with the minor effect of the structure of the core and the generation of SBD where alkyl groups were attached.  相似文献

Because organotin compounds (OTC) are widely used in many fields of activity, they have become an ubiquitous environmental presence. The presence of organotins in the environment impacts upon food safety, making it important to monitor the levels of organotin pesticides in fruits and vegetables. Nevertheless, only a few studies have been published on organotin speciation in plants. The objective of the present study was to evaluate and optimise a specific procedure based on pressurised solvent extraction (PSE) that is suitable for monitoring organotin content in vegetables. In ASE, solvents are used at elevated temperatures and pressures to increase the rate and efficiency of the extraction process. The results from this procedure were compared to those from the technique usually employed, solid/liquid extraction (SLE) performed in an acidic solvent by mechanical shaking. Three extracting solutions were tested—methanol, ethyl acetate and a mixture of methanol and ethyl acetate—and the mixture was found to give the most quantitative results while preserving the speciation. French bean and lettuce leaves as well as potato tubers were used as the plant materials. These vegetables were considered because they are the vegatables consumed in the most quantities in Europe. The study focuses on trisubstituted OTCs, which are the most toxic tin species. The samples were spiked with four trisubstituted organotins: tributyltin (TBT), triphenyltin (TPhT), tricyclohexyltin (TcHexT) and trioctyltin (TOcT). The influence of the pressure and the temperature of the PSE on the quantitativity of the process and on species preservation was evaluated using the experimental design methodology. The optimised PSE allowed detection limits down to 1–2 ng (Sn) g–1 to be reached. These are higher than those obtained by SLE (0.1–1 ng (Sn) g–1). Although the repeatability is similar for both PSE and SLE (2–12% for triorganotin compounds), this appears to be highly time-dependent in the case of SLE. Comparison with SLE confirms that PSE is an interesting tool for vegetable analysis considering the satisfactory OTC preservation and repeatability obtained for a relatively short extraction duration (only 15 min against 2–12 h for SLE).  相似文献

The title complex was crystallized from a saturated solution of 18-crown-6 in nitromethane at 5°C and cooled to –150°C prior to X-ray diffraction data collection. At –150° C 18-crown-6·2(CH3NO2) is monoclinic,P21/n witha=9.290(2),b=7.864(6),c=13.627(8) Å, =1000.84(4)° andD calc=1.31 g cm–3 for Z=2. Leastsquares refinement using 1521 independent observed reflections [F o5(F o)] led to a final conventionalR value of 0.041. The complex at –150°C is isostructural with its room temperature structure with the exception of the orientation of the methyl hydrogen atoms and their crown ether oxygen interactions. The methyl group hydrogen atoms were fully refined isotropically. The crown ether resides around a center of inversion and hasD 3d symmetry. There is one methyl hydrogen...crown interaction at 2.35(3) Å, one apparently bifurcated hydrogen bond utilizing a second methyl hydrogen atom (2.55(3), 2.65(3) Å) and the third hydrogen atom is actually directed away from the crown ring (closest H...O contact=2.67(3) Å).
