Reactions of mercury salts with benzo- and tetrafluorobenzobarrelenes

Regiochemistry and stereochemistry of the addition of mercury salts to benzobarrelene and tetrafluorobenzobarrelene have been studied in acetic acid and methanol. Synthesis of vinyl-substituted oxiranes and their transformation to dihydrofurans

The reaction of dimethylsulfonium methylide with the carbonyl function of 2-arylidene-cyclohexanones obtained from 2-methylcyclohexanone affords the corresponding spirooxiranes. The application of this reaction to 2,2-dimethyl-6-(5-methylfurfurylidene)cyclohexanone and 2,2-dimethyl-6-(5-chlorofurfurylidene)cyclohexanone leads to substituted 4,4-dimethyl-1-furyl-1,-3,4,5,6,7-hexahydroisobenzofurans.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. DTA and X-ray diffraction investigations of laser-irradiated CeO2 powders

The TG and DTA curves and diffractograms of powdered CeO₂ samples irradiated with a CO₂ laser beam with powers of 0.41–1.39 kW/cm² are presented. The laser treatment induced structural changes and probably generation of a metastable phase. X-ray diffraction coupled with thermal analysis was used to establish the structural modifications in the irradiated samples after heating.     

Thermal reaction of clCH2CONH2 in molten acetamide

Mixtures composed of amides and electrolytes exhibit interesting properties such as viscoelastic behaviour and a megavalue of the dielectric constant. In order to improve the dielectric properties, the authors are investigating a large number of molten mixtures of CF₃COONa with different types of amides, including the ternary system sodium trifluoroacetate-chloroacetamide-acetamide. The experimental measurements showed that the ternary mixtures are thermally unstable. A yellow oily product is formed; this was purified and tested by means of IR and NMR techniques. The formula and the kinetic mechanism are proposed.     

Thermoanalytical procedures to identify the morphology of polycrystalline materials

Polypropylenes of differing morphologies were examined by differential thermal analysis. The problems of reordering during the programmed heating are discussed. Four potential procedures by which the reordering could be inhibited are considered, and three of these are experimentally assessed. Their advantages and deficiencies are identified. Two pretreatments, an etching and a crosslinking, are recognised as able to qualitatively characterise the initial morphology, with a preference for the former. A test to identify the occurrence of reordering is identified. In celebration of the 60^th birthday of Dr. Andrew K. Galwey     

高抗冲聚丙烯序列结构的综合表征

用高分辨＾１３Ｃ ＮＭＲ、ＦＴＩＲ等手段获得了高抗冲聚丙烯的组成和序列分布等链结构方面的信息。用ＤＳＣ、ＷＡＸＤ等方法研究了它们的结晶行为、熔融转变及晶体结构，多种方法相结合有效地表征了高抗冲聚丙烯的序列结构。     

Rigidity of Branch Groups Acting on Rooted Trees

Automorphisms of groups acting faithfully on rooted trees are studied. We find conditions under which every automorphism of such a group is induced by a conjugation from the full automorphism group of the rooted tree. These results are applied to known examples such as Grigorchuk groups, Gupta–Sidki group, etc.     

Modulation of Particle Concentrations in the Interference Laser Radiation Field

Spatial redistribution of microparticles in a suspension on exposure to the interference laser field depending on the parameters of the particles and the field characteristics has been analyzed theoretically. Results of experimental investigations are presented that illustrate the capture of an ensemble of polymeric small spheres and also of the lymphocytes of human blood and other microparticles in a liquid in the interference radiation bands of the He–Ne laser.
