Abstract

When polyelectrolyte‐neutral block copolymers are mixed in solutions to oppositely charged species (e.g., surfactant micelles, macromolecules, proteins, etc.), there is the formation of stable “supermicellar” aggregates combining both components. The resulting colloidal complexes exhibit a core‐shell structure, and the mechanism yielding to their formation is electrostatic self‐assembly. In this contribution, we report on the structural properties of “supermicellar” aggregates made from yttrium‐based inorganic nanoparticles (radius 2 nm) and polyelectrolyte‐neutral block copolymers in aqueous solutions. The yttrium hydroxyacetate particles were chosen as a model system for inorganic colloids, and also for their use in industrial applications as precursors for ceramic and opto‐electronic materials. The copolymers placed under scrutiny are the water‐soluble and asymmetric poly(sodium acrylate)‐b‐poly(acrylamide) diblocks. Using static and dynamical light‐scattering experiments, we demonstrate the analogy between surfactant micelles and nanoparticles in the complexation phenomenon with oppositely charged polymers. We also determine the sizes and the aggregation numbers of the hybrid organic–inorganic complexes. Several additional properties are discussed, such as the remarkable stability of the hybrid aggregates and the dependence of their sizes on the mixing conditions.  相似文献

Marine fishery wastes such as bivalve shells, crab shells and cuttlebone are rich in calcium. Calcium carbonate derived from these materials can be transformed into calcium oxide by calcination, which is used in a wide variety of applications (e.g., biomaterials for bone and teeth implants and drugs). In this study we analyze the effects of calcination temperatures (550 °C, 700 °C and 900 °C) on characteristics and elemental composition of calcium oxide derived from shells of four marine species collected in Thailand: oyster (Saccostrea cucullata), green mussel (Perna viridis), blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus), and cuttlefish (Sepia brevimana). The XRD patterns indicated the complete transformation of calcium carbonate into calcium oxide, observed by the changes of diffraction angles at 900 °C for all calcined samples, except cuttlebone, which was calcined successfully at 700 °C. Likewise, the FT-IR results revealed changes of functional groups at the same calcination temperatures. In addition, ICP-OES showed the effects of calcination temperature on elemental contents: major elements (Ca, P and K) increased in all samples, and some minor elements increased in blue swimming crab shell (Zn and Cu) and oyster shell (Fe) as a result of increasing the calcination temperature. This study demonstrates the optimum calcination temperature of calcium oxide production from four types of marine wastes that might be benefit for the chemical compound production industry.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate a complete nutritional composition in the seeds Quercus virginiana to compare this nutritional composition with three Mediterranean Quercus species. We analyzed the seed morphometry, proximate composition, phytochemicals, and antioxidant capacity. The seed of Q. virginiana presented the smaller seed size and weight, while Q. suber presented the highest values. Moreover, Q. virginiana seeds showed the highest amounts of sugar and total lipids, digestibility, energy, palmitic acid, and stearic acid. On the other hand, Q. virginiana seeds showed the lowest values of linoleic acid. Moreover, Q. coccifera seeds presented the highest total phenolics and flavonoids contents and antioxidant activity. The clustering analysis revealed a significant similarity in seed morphometry and nutritional composition between the Mediterranean Q. ilex and Q. suber, grouping with the American Q. virginiana, but to a considerable distance; by contrast, the Mediterranean Q. coccifera was the most distant in the clustering analysis. The content of phenolics and flavonoids and digestibility value were the variables that contributed to the separation to a greater extent in the clustering of the four species. The nutritional and biological activity assessment of plant seed may be considered as an essential mission to find new sustainable sources and novel chemical agents. In this sense, Quercus seeds may be an alternative and a competitive food source for the agri-food industry.  相似文献

Lignocellulosic fibers extracted from sugarcane bagasse were treated with NaOH solutions of different concentration (0-40 wt%) to study the effect of alkali treatment on the composition, structure and properties of the fibers. Composition was determined by the van Soest method, structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while mechanical properties by tensile testing. Hemicellulose and lignin content decrease, while cellulose content goes through a maximum as a function of alkali concentration. Crystallinity changes only slightly and microfibril angle (MFA) remains constant thus structural effects and especially MFA are not the primary reasons for changing properties. The Young's modulus of the fibers shows a slight maximum at around 2-4 wt% NaOH content, while tensile strength goes through a much more pronounced one at around 5-8 wt%. Direct correlation between structure and mechanical properties was not found indicating that composition is more important in the determination of properties than structure. Regression analysis proved that the combination of several compositional variables determines mechanical properties in a non-linear manner. The improvement in fiber properties was explained with the dissolution of weak amorphous fractions and the relative increase of cellulose content.  相似文献

Alternating and random copolymers of 2-(9-carbazolyl)ethyl methacrylate with aromatic vinyl monomers were synthesized and their fluorescence properties were compared in good and poor solvents. Contraction of the polymer coils induced the hypochromic effect, i.e., the mutual interaction of the ground-state chromophores, but caused little quenching of their excited state. This is sharp in contrast with the vinyl-type of polymers, exhibiting large interactions in both the ground and excited states. Introduction of bulky groups on the comonomers in the alternating copolymers further suppressed these interactions. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Various amounts of hydroxy terminated PDMS were linked into PLLA chains via in-situ ring opening polymerization at a very low content of SnOt2. The 1H and FTIR spectra provided evidence for the incorporation of the PDMS in the PLLA chains. The molecular weights, Tg, Tm, crystallinity and the heats of fusion decreased as the feed mole ratio of PDMS/LLA in the block copolymer increased. The molecular weight distribution broadened as the content of the PDMS increased, due the occurrence of two initiation and propagation mechanisms. Linking PDMS into the PLLA chains improved its thermal stability. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Amidoalkylations of polybutenes and of ethene-propene copolymer, catalyzed by trifluoroacetic acid, result in 5,6-dihydro-4H,1,3-oxazino-substituted polyalkenes with the 2-position of the oxazine ring unsubstituted or occupied by a vinyl or a phenyl group. The vinyl-substituted dihydrooxazino polymers thus obtained readily add butylamine to the vinyl fragment yielding alkylamino-substituted derivatives. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Phase behavior of blends of poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) with four styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) triblock copolymers, being of various molecular weights, architecture, and compositions, was investigated by small-angle light scattering. Small-angle X-ray scattering investigation was accomplished for one blend. Low critical solution temperature (LCST) and a unique phase behavior, resembling upper critical solution temperature (UCST), were observed. It was found that the architecture of the copolymer greatly influenced the phase behavior of the blends. Random phase approximation theory was used to calculate the spinodal phase transition curves of the ABA/C and BAB/C systems; LCST and resembling UCST phase behavior were observed as the parameters of the system changed. Qualitatively, the experimental and the theoretical results are consistent with each other. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

2-(Trimethylsiloxy)butadiene (TMSBD) and 2-(tert-butyldimethylsiloxy)butadiene (TBMSBD) were copolymerized with styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) under free-radical conditions. The obtained polymers were found to contain reactive silyl enol ether groups in a ratio identical to the TMSBD or TBMSBD molar fraction in the copolymer. All investigated samples displayed only 1,4- and 3,4-microstructures. The influence of several experimental factors on the yields, rates of polymerization, microstructures, and copolymer compositions were examined. Monomer reactivity ratios r1 and r2 at 60°C were determined from copolymer composition curves at low conversions. The homopolymerization of TBMSBD was also investigated and results were compared with those previously obtained for TMSBD. A slight increase in rates was observed and was rationalized on the basis of the higher viscosity resulting from the structural change in the monomer. Thermal stabilities of the synthesized polymers were investigated by TGA and their glass transition temperatures were determined by DSC. All measurements are compatible with a possible use of TMSBD and TBMSBD copolymers as reactive polymers. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献
