Bombyx batryticatus, a protein-rich edible insect, is widely used as a traditional medicine in China. Several pharmacological studies have reported the anticancer activity of B. batryticatus extracts; however, the capacity of B. batryticatus extracts as immune potentiators for increasing the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy is still unverified. In the present study, we investigated the immunomodulatory role of B. batryticatus protein-rich extract (BBPE) in bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) and DC vaccine-immunized mice. BBPE-treated BMDCs displayed characteristics of mature immune status, including high expression of surface molecules (CD80, CD86, major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-I, and MHC-II), increased production of proinflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-12p70), enhanced antigen-presenting ability, and reduced endocytosis. BBPE-treated BMDCs promoted naive CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell proliferation and activation. Furthermore, BBPE/ovalbumin (OVA)-pulsed DC-immunized mice showed a stronger OVA-specific multifunctional T-cell response in CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and a stronger Th1 antibody response than mice receiving differently treated DCs, which showed the enhanced protective effect against tumor growth in E.G7 tumor-bearing mice. Our data demonstrate that BBPE can be a novel immune potentiator for a DC-based vaccine in anticancer therapy.  相似文献

In this study, the binding kinetics of synthetic glycopolypeptides to the dendritic cell lectin DC‐SIGN and their inhibition potential for DC‐SIGN interactions with the gp120 envelope glycoprotein of HIV‐1 (gp120) are investigated.

The synthesis and characterization of dendritic homopolymers and block copolymers of ?‐caprolactone and lactide (L ‐lactide and racemic lactide) were performed with multifunctional initiators in combination with living polymerization and the selective placement of branching junctures in a divergent growth strategy. A hexahydroxy‐functional 2,2‐bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid derivative was used as an initiator for the stannous‐2‐ethylhexanoate‐catalyzed living ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone, L ‐lactide, and racemic L ,D ‐lactide. Branching junctions at the chain ends were introduced with benzylidene‐protected 2,2‐bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid. Subsequent generations were then polymerized, after deprotection, from these star‐shaped macroinitiators. Successive chain end capping and initiation produced three generations of polymers with molecular weights in excess of 130,000 g/mol and narrow polydispersities (<1.20). It was possible to prepare diblock and triblock copolymers with phase‐separated morphologies, and with L ‐lactide or D ,L ‐lactide, semicrystalline and amorphous morphologies were demonstrated. The polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, size exclusion chromatography, and differential scanning calorimetry. The compositions of the block copolymers and the conformational structures of the optically active polymers were also confirmed by optical rotation measurements. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Computer-generated plans for radiation treatment sometimes involve an unnecessarily large number of gantry angles. Such plans are time consuming and expensive to administer because each distinct angle causes a delay while the gantry is repositioned. To address this issue, we consider an optimization model that generates minimum-support solutions to the treatment planning problem – that is, solutions involving a minimum number of gantry angles. This model is a polyhedral concave program, which is solved using a successive linearization algorithm based on work by Mangasarian [10].  相似文献

A series of poly(fluorene‐coalt‐phenylene)s containing various generations of dendritic oxadiazole (OXD) pendent wedges were synthesized by the Suzuki polycondensation of OXD‐functionalized 1,4‐dibromophenylene with 9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐2,7‐diboronic ester. The obtained polymers possessed excellent solubility in common solvents and good thermal stability. Photophysical studies showed that the dendronized polymers appended with higher generations of OXD dendrons exhibited enhanced photoluminescence efficiencies and narrower values of the full width at half‐maximum. This was attributed to the shielding effect induced by the bulky dendritic OXD side chains, which prevented self‐quenching and suppressed the formation of aggregates/excimers. The energy transfer from the OXD dendrons to the polymer backbones was very efficient when excitation of the peripheral OXD dendrons resulted mainly in the polymer backbone emission alone. In particular, the photoluminescence emission intensities by the sensitized excitations of OXD dendrons in solid films of the polymers were all stronger than those by the direct excitations of their polymer conjugated backbones. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
