Chiral and water‐soluble poly(2‐oxazoline)s

We describe the synthesis and characterization of the first water‐soluble and chiral poly(2,4‐disubstituted‐2‐oxazoline)s. While poly(2,4‐dimethyl‐2‐oxazoline)s are water soluble up to 100 °C, aqueous solutions of poly(2‐ethyl‐4‐methly‐2‐oxazoline) exhibit a lower critical solution temperature. This is discussed in context with its constitutional isomers poly(2‐oxazoline)s and poly(2‐oxazine)s. Circular dichroism spectroscopy revealed strong Cotton effects, which are also responsive to temperature in aqueous solution. It is therefore hypothesized that structures, comparable to polyproline helices, are formed in aqueous solution. In contrast to polyproline, poly(2,4‐disubstituted‐2‐oxazoline)s are highly water soluble and therefore represent very interesting pseudo‐polypeptides that may be useful to develop responsive biomimetic biomaterials. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Electromagnetic processes in a χEFT framework

Recently,we have derived a two–nucleon potential and consistent nuclear electromagnetic currents in chiral effective field theory with pions and nucleons as explicit degrees of freedom.The calculation of the currents has been carried out to include N 3 LO corrections,consisting of two–pion exchange and contact contributions.The latter involve unknown low-energy constants (LECs),some of which have been fixed by fitting the np Sand P-wave phase shifts up to 100 MeV lab energies.The remaining LECs entering the current operator are determined so as to reproduce the experimental deuteron and trinucleon magnetic moments,as well as the np cross section.This electromagnetic current operator is utilized to study the nd and n 3 He radiative captures at thermal neutron energies.Here we discuss our results stressing on the important role played by the LECs in reproducing the experimental data.     

Tetrathiafulvalene hydrazone: efficient synthon for the synthesis of novel bidentate redox active ligands

The synthesis and the ability of TTF-hydrazone to act as a versatile precursor for the design of electroactive ligands are reported together with the chelating ability of these ligands through their M(CO)₄ complexes, (M = Mo, W).     

Molecular Dynamic Study for Chiral Discrimination of a -Phenylethylamine by Modified Cyclodextrin in Gas Chromatography

A molecular dynamic method in conjunction with a statistic test has been utilized to model chiral recognition of a -phenylethylamine on heptakis (2,6-di-O-butyl-3-O-butyryl)-b -cyclodextrin in gas chromatography. The modelling data correlated with the chromatographic elution order, and indicated that the preferred site of a -phenylethylamine is the interior of cavity.
