A bisphenol bearing pendant maleimide group, namely, N‐maleimidoethyl‐3, 3‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)‐1‐isobenzopyrrolidone (PPH‐MA) was synthesized starting from phenolphthalein. Aromatic (co)polyesters bearing pendant maleimide groups were synthesized from PPH‐MA and aromatic diacid chlorides, namely, isophthaloyl chloride (IPC), terephthaloyl chloride (TPC), and 50:50 mol % mixture of IPC and TPC by low temperature solution polycondensation technique. Copolyesters were also synthesized by polycondensation of different molar proportions of PPH‐MA and bisphenol A with IPC. Inherent viscosities and number‐average molecular weights of aromatic (co)polyesters were in the range of 0.52–0.97 dL/g and 20,200–32,800 g/mol, respectively indicating formation of medium to reasonably high‐molecular‐weight polymers. 13C NMR spectral analysis of copolyesters revealed the formation of random copolymers. The 10% weight loss temperature of (co)polyesters was found in the range 470–484 °C, indicating their good thermal stability. A selected aromatic polyester bearing pendant maleimide groups was chemically modified via thiol‐maleimide Michael addition reaction with two representative thiol compounds, namely, 4‐chlorothiophenol and 1‐adamantanethiol to yield post‐modified polymers in a quantitative manner. Additionally, it was demonstrated that polyester containing pendant maleimide groups could be used to form insoluble crosslinked gel in the presence of a multifunctional thiol crosslinker. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study addresses the inherent issues surrounding surface modification methods of nanofibers and proposes an environmentally friendly and less toxic strategy for the surface modification of hydrophilic nanofiber. From the continuation of our previous work, which discussed the easy production of nanofiber (average size: 127 nm) from oil palm mesocarp fiber (OPMF), in this work, the surface of nanofibers (M‐IL‐OPMF) were modified through vapor‐phase‐assisted surface polymerization (VASP) to improve the affinity of interface between the polymer grafted M‐IL‐OPMF and non‐polar matrix. VASP of ε‐caprolactone was successfully proceeded from the [M‐IL‐OPMF] at 70 °C for 24 h and 72 h, and compositions were estimated to be 35.7% fiber/64.3% polymer and 27.8% fiber/72.2% polymer. To confirm the grafting of PCL, size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC) and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetry (TG), and dispersibility test in hydrophobic solvent were carried out. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We present a study of resonant optical properties of gold‐protected silver nanoisland films. Silver nanoislands were grown on a glass substrate using out‐diffusion technique, the growth was followed by the deposition of nanometer‐thick gold coatings. Scanning electron microscopy and optical spectroscopy were used to characterize morphology and extinction spectra of the grown combined silver–gold nanostructures. Micro Raman spectroscopy of the combined nanoislands has demonstrated their signal enhancement factor exceeding that one of the initial silver nanoislands.  相似文献

Abstract

Platinum is studied, theoretically, under very high compression. The calculated equation of state is found to agree well with the recent experimental data. At V/V0 = 0.4, where V0 is the experimental equilibrium volume, we find a transition from the face centered cubic structure (fcc), found at ambient pressure, to the body centered cubic structure (bcc). The calculated transition pressure is 26 Mbar. The stabilization of the bcc structure is explained by the eigen value sum.  相似文献

Abstract

The 2,2′-diaminodiethylamine (DEN) functional group can be expected to have ideal properties for the chelation of transition metals and their collection from aqueous solutions, independent of the alkali and alkaline earth ions concentration. Introducing DEN into cellulose filters allows straightforward preconcentration of trace cations by a simple filtration step, and the DEN-filter constitutes a suitable target for X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis. The linearity between the XRF-response on the loaded DEN-filter and the trace cation concentration in the solution appears excellent, up to a total filter capacity of ca. 3 μeq.cm?2. The detection limits are around 0.5 μg. l?1 in most practical cases. Accuracy and precision are around 10%. The applicability of the proposed procedure is illustrated on a comparative basis by XRF-analysis of drinking water and surface water, after preconcentration by DEN-filtration and by alternative procedures.  相似文献

Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) systems based on polysulfone as carrying matrix and 4-cyano-4?-pentylbiphenyl (5CB) liquid crystal (LC) were obtained as thin transparent films. The PDLC films were prepared by solvent- and thermally induced phase separation methods, with various compositions in the two components. Information on the phase separation was obtained by polarised light optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy. The PDLC composites show well-defined droplets of submicrometric size, around 650 nm for a medium content of LC and around 250 nm for a low one. The droplets show a radial configuration and a homeotropic alignment of the LC molecules within. By contact angle measurement and surface free energy calculations, it was established that self-assembling of aliphatic units of the two composite components, at droplet interface, is the driving force of the homeotropic alignment. Moreover, these data indicated the potential biocompatibility of the studied composites. The photophysical behaviour shows a better light emission of the PDLCs containing bigger droplets.  相似文献

Two novel triorganotin carboxylate complexes of the biologically active urocanic acid have been synthesized and characterized. Elemental analysis, melting point, spectroscopic techniques – IR, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR – mass spectrometry and X‐ray diffraction studies have been used for structural characterization. Crystal structures of the tin(IV) derivatives show that urocanic acid acts as a bridging bidentate ligand through its imidazole nitrogen atom and its carboxylic group, producing a polymeric one‐dimensional chain. The molecular structures of the complexes, catena‐poly‐tri(n‐butyl)tin(IV) 3‐(3H‐imidazol‐4‐yl)prop‐2‐enoate (1) and catena‐poly‐triphenyltin(IV) 3‐(3H‐imidazol‐4‐yl)prop‐2‐enoate (2), present a distorted trigonal–bipyramidal configuration. This is further confirmed by 119Sn NMR in the solid state. The tin(IV) derivatives form double‐stranded ribbons via N―HO―H bonds. Nevertheless, the compounds are essentially monomeric in solution, with a tetrahedral configuration as observed by 119Sn NMR in solution. The cytotoxic activity of the titled compounds has been tested against six human cell lines and the corresponding IC50 values are reported. Both tin(IV) compounds have a high to very high in vitro cytotoxic activity against the tumor cell lines K562, HCT‐15 and MCF‐7. Sulfonium sulfonate, or sulfothetin, zwitterionic monomers were synthesized by ring‐opening of 1,3‐propanesultone with dialkyl sulfides containing styrenic or methacrylic moieties. Reversible addition‐fragmentation chain‐transfer polymerization of these monomers was achieved in water or trifluoroethanol, and the resulting polymers exhibited higher upper critical solution temperatures than the analogous sulfobetaine polymers. Unlike typical polymer zwitterions, these polymeric sulfothetins possess an inherent reactivity that proved tunable based on their chemical structures. This reactivity makes them amenable to post‐polymerization modification by nucleophilic dealkylation to rapidly access novel substituted polymers and gels. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. The anisotropic effects and short‐range quantum effects are essential characters in the formation of halogen bonds. Since there are an array of applications of halogen bonds and much difficulty in modeling them in classical force fields, the current research reports solely the polarizable ellipsoidal force field (PEff) for halogen bonds. The anisotropic charge distribution was represented with the combination of a negative charged sphere and a positively charged ellipsoid. The polarization energy was incorporated by the induced dipole model. The resulting force field is “physically motivated,” which includes separate, explicit terms to account for the electrostatic, repulsion/dispersion, and polarization interaction. Furthermore, it is largely compatible with existing, standard simulation packages. The fitted parameters are transferable and compatible with the general AMBER force field. This PEff model could correctly reproduces the potential energy surface of halogen bonds at MP2 level. Finally, the prediction of the halogen bond properties of human Cathepsin L (hcatL) has been found to be in excellent qualitative agreement with the cocrystal structures. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Surface roughness is one of the most common performance measurements in machining process and an effective parameter in representing the quality of machined surface. The minimization of the machining performance measurement such as surface roughness (Ra) must be formulated in the standard mathematical model. To predict the minimum Ra value, the process of modeling is taken in this study. The developed model deals with real experimental data of the Ra in the end milling machining process. Two modeling approaches, regression and Artificial Neural Network (ANN), are applied to predict the minimum Ra value. The results show that regression and ANN models have reduced the minimum Ra value of real experimental data by about 1.57% and 1.05%, respectively.  相似文献
