Epoxy resins (DGEBA) were cured by cationic latent thermal catalysts, that is, N‐benzylpyrazinium hexafluoroantimonate (BPH) and N‐benzylquinoxalinium hexafluoroantimonate (BQH) to investigate the effect of substituted benzene group on cure kinetics and mechanical properties of epoxy system. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was undertaken for activation energy of the system. It was also characterized in terms of flexural, fracture toughness, and Izod impact strengths for the mechanical tests. As a result, the cure reaction of both epoxy systems resulted in an autocatalytic kinetic mechanism accelerated by hydroxyl groups. Also, the conversion and cure activation energy of the DGEBA/BQH system were higher than those of DGEBA/BPH system. The mechanical properties of the DGEBA/BQH system were also superior to those of the DGEBA/BPH system, as well as the morphology. This was probably due to the consequence of the effect of the substituted benzene group of the BQH catalyst, resulting in increasing the crosslinking density and structural stability in the epoxy system studied. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The potentiometric characteristics of a new Cu2+‐selective electrode based on 2‐(benzyliminomethyl)‐6‐methoxy‐4‐(4‐methoxyphenyl‐azo) phenol as an efficient ionophore has been evaluated. The effects of influential parameters on the potentiometric responses such as the amount of plasticizer, the amount of ionophore, pH of the sample solution, and the effect of coexisting ions on the electrode signal were subsequently investigated . The selectivity of the electrode was assessed by calculating the selectivity coefficients using the matched potential method. The optimum ratio of the amount of materials required for the preparation of the electrode was found to be 1.7: 32.1: 64.2: 2.0 corresponding to carboxylated PVC, dimethyl sebacate as solvent mediators, potassium tetrakis (p‐chlorophenyl) borate as the anion localizing agent, and ionophore, respectively. The electrode had a fast response (7s) as well as a satisfactory Nernstian slope (29.26±0.91 mV/decade) to Cu2+ over a wide concentration range of 2.0×10?6‐ 5.0×10?2 M with a low detection limit of 5.9×10?7 M. The developed sensor was successfully used for the potentiometric titration of Cu2+ ion with EDTA and subsequently, efficient determination of this metal ion in a mineral water sample was performed.  相似文献

In quasiliving polymerizations with reversible chain transfer (QL0R systems), polymers with narrow molecular weight distribution can be obtained, It has been shown that while in true living systems (L00) R = 1, and in quasiliving systems with irreversible chain transfer (QL01) R = 2 is the limiting value of polydispersity, in QL0R systems r = 4/3 is the polydispersity to which the distribution of the polymer tends with increasing polymerization time. This limit is independent of the rate of reinitiation; the course of the R vs t curves is, however, determined by the various rate constants.  相似文献

The benzoxazines of three naturally occurring phenylpropanoid phenols: ferulic, coumaric, and phloretic acids, and their esters are described. Benzoxazines with conjugated unsaturated chains exhibit unusual poor thermal stability and degrade partially at the polymerization temperature making necessary the use of a catalyst (BF3.Et2O) to low the polymerization temperature and prevent degradation. Polybenzoxazines are prepared thermally and characterized by DSC and TGA techniques. The resulting materials have superior Tgs when compared with those prepared from an unsubstituted monofuctional benzoxazine due to the additional crosslinking through the ester and carboxylic moieties. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, thermo-sensitive magnetic cationic hydrogel (TSMCH) based on (3-acrylamidopropyl) trimethyl ammonium chloride (APTMACl) and N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAm) was synthesized by free radical copolymerization. The TSMCH was characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive x-ray, vibrating sample magnetometer, and zeta potential, and employed as adsorbent for adsorbing reactive red (RR) dye. Effects of molar ratios of APTMACl to NIPAm on the adsorption capacity of TSMCH were studied, and the results showed that a maximum adsorption capacity (1428.57 mg RR g?1 TSMCH) had been achieved when the molar ratio of APTMACl to NIPAm was 1:1. The adsorption isotherm of RR was well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm equation. TSMCH had good selectivity for adsorbing RR. Solution pH hardly affected the adsorption of RR on the TSMCH. The adsorption amount of RR increased with the increase of temperature. The adsorption–desorption of TSMCH was evaluated in three circles and a high regeneration rate was demonstrated.  相似文献

Single crystals of l-valine cadmium chloride monohydrate (LVCC), a novel semiorganic nonlinear optical material were synthesized and grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method at room temperature. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern and FT IR spectrum analysis confirmed the formation of the new crystal. LVCC has good optical transmission in the entire visible region, which is an essential requirement for a nonlinear crystal. The thermal studies reveal that the material has good thermal stability. The LVCC crystal was characterized by energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The optical second harmonic generation conversion efficiency of LVCC was determined using Kurtz powder technique.  相似文献

Various PS‐based graft copolymers including polystyrene‐graft‐poly(methyl methacrylate) and poly(styrene‐graft‐poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate) are prepared via subsequent visible light radical photopolymerization and iniferter processes. Thus, poly(styrene‐co‐4‐chloromethylstyrene) P(S‐co‐VBC) is synthesized by light induced free‐radical polymerization. Then, chloride moieties are substituted with triphenylmethyl (trityl) groups to give trityl‐substituted PS (PS‐trityl) under visible light irradiation using dimanganese decacarbonyl (Mn2(CO)10) photochemistry. Side chains are then grafted from PS‐trityl backbone via iniferter process to give desired graft copolymers in a controlled manner. Herein, cylindrical molecular bottlebrushes grafted with poly(2‐oxazoline) (POx) as a shaped tunable uni‐molecular nanoparticle were synthesized via the grafting‐onto approach. First, poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) backbones with azide pendant units were prepared via reversible addition fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization followed by post‐modification. The degree of polymerization (DP) of the backbones was tuned in a range from 20 to 800. Alkynyl‐terminated POx side chains were synthesized by living cationic ring opening polymerization (LCROP) of 2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline (EtOx) and 2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline (MeOx), respectively. The DP of side chains was varied between 20 and 100. Then, the copper‐catalyzed azide‐alkynyl cycloaddition (CuAAC) click chemistry was conducted with a feed ratio of [alkynyl]:[azide] = 1.2:1 to yield a series of brushes. Depending on the DP of side chains, the grafting density ranged between 47 and 85%. The resulting brushlike nanoparticles exhibited shapes of sphere, rod and worm. Aqueous solutions of PEtOx brushes demonstrated a thermoresponsive behavior as a function of the length of backbones and side chains. Highly swollen hydrogels made by the polymerization of acrylamide (AAm) with some anionic monomers such as citraconic acid (CITA) and sodium acrylate (SA) were investigated as a function of composition to find materials with swelling and dye sorption properties. Highly swollen AAm/CITA/SA or AAm/SA/CITA hydrogels were prepared by free radical solution polymerization in aqueous solutions of AAm with CITA and SA as co‐monomers and two multifunctional crosslinkers such as ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) and 1,4‐butanediol dimethacrylate (BDMA). Swelling experiments were performed in water at 25°C, gravimetrically. Chemically crosslinked AAm/CITA/SA or AAm/SA/CITA hydrogels were used in experiments on sorption of water‐soluble monovalent cationic dye such as “Nil blue” (Basic Blue 12; BB 12). Equilibrium percentage swelling values of AAm/CITA/SA or AAm/SA/CITA hydrogels were calculated in the range of 1797–22,098%. Some swelling kinetic parameters were found. Diffusion behavior of water was investigated. Water diffusion into the hydrogels was found to be non‐Fickian in character. For sorption of cationic dye, BB 12 into the hydrogels was studied by batch sorption technique at 25°C. AAm/CITA/SA or AAm/SA/CITA hydrogels in the dye solutions showed coloration, whereas AAm hydrogel did not show sorption of any dye from the solution. The sorption capacity of AAm/CITA/SA or AAm/SA/CITA hydrogels was investigated. At the end of the experiments, 21.70–78.91% BB 12 adsorptions were determined.
