Enantioselektive Cyclopropanierung von 1,1-Diphenylethylen und Diazoessigester mit Kupfer-Katalysatoren

Copper(II) compounds catalyze the reaction of 1,1-diphenylethylene with diazoacetic acid ethylester. The main product is 2,2-diphenylcyclopropane carboxylic acid ethylester. The formation of the carbene dimerization products fumaric and maleic acid diethylester can be suppressed by the continuous addition of diazoacetic acid ester to 1,1-diphenylethylene.37 optically active ligands, partly new, were combined with copper(II)-acetate to givein-situ-catalysts. In five cases isolated copper complexes were used as catalysts. The best optical inductions in the formation of 2,2-diphenylcyclopro-pane carboxylic acid ethylester with up to 65.6% ee were achieved withSchiff base ligands, which derive from salicylaldehyde and amino alcohols, obtained from amino acid esters and phenylGrignard.

The study of terbium generated bacterirhodopsin

The localization of Terbium (Tb³⁺) cations binding to deionized bacteriorhodopsin (bR) has been studied by using spectroscopic methods. It was found that adding Tb³⁺ cations to deionized bR affects the fluorescence lifetimes of tryptophan (Trp) in bR, the wavelength of fluorescence peak shifts “blue” and the peak value of fluorescence decreases. It was also found that adding one Tb³⁺ cation to deionized bR can restore the purple state from its blue state obviously. The measurements of absorbance, fluorescence and lifetime of fluorescence also show that when more than three Tb³⁺ cations are added, no further changes can be found. It is suggested that one Tb³⁺ specific binding site for the color-controlling is located on the exterior of the bR trimer structure to negatively charged lipids near Trp-10 and Trp-12. Three Tb³⁺ cations binding per bR is needed for the regenerated bR.     

Solvent extraction and bulk liquid membrane transport of Co(II) and Ni(II) ammine cations by proton-ionizable crown ethers

Separation efficiencies and selectivities in solvent extraction of Co(II) and Ni(H) ammine cations from aqueous solutions into chloroform and toluene and in transport through bulk toluene membranes by proton-ionizable crown ethers have been determined. Six proton-ionizable crown ethers with differing lipophilicities, polyether cavity sizes and ionizable groups (carboxylic and sulfonic acid functions) were examined. Higher selectivity and efficiency for Co(II) ammine cation extraction was observed for the more lipophilic, proton-ionizable crown ethers. Highly lipophilic crown carboxylic acids provided effective and selective transport of Co(II) ammine cations through bulk toluene membranes.Presented in part at the 6th International Symposium on High Purity Materials in Science and Technology: Preparation, Characterization and Application of Well-Defined Materials, Dresden, GDR, May 1985, Poster D91, Poster Abstracts, pp. 144, 145.All extraction and transport experiments were conducted at this location.

Initiation of cationic polymerization of n-butyl vinyl ether by stable cation radicals of substituted phenothiazines

3,7-Diethyl- 10-phenylphenothiazine (DEPPT), a phenothiazine derivative whose 3,7- and 10-positions are blocked, was synthesized. Potentiostatic electrolysis of DEPPT in acetonitrile (ACN) in the presence of 0.1M of LiClO₄ at 0.7 V (vs. Ag/Ag/Cl) yielded the stable cation radical of DEPPT (DEPPT^+·) which was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV-visible spectroscopy, and ESR spectrometry. Stable cation radicals of 10-phenylphenothiazine and 3,7-diethyl-10-methylphenothiazine were also prepared. The cationic polymerization of n-butyl vinyl ether was initiated by these cation radicals, including DEPPT^·+. The electron transfer mechanism for the initiation step, which we proposed previously, was supported by the fact that DEPPT^·+ was capable of initiating the polymerization; dimerization of DEPPT^·+ by releasing protons is precluded because 3,7- and 10-positions are all blocked. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Can the presence of chemically inert species modify the face selectivity in asymmetric induction by cyclodextrins?

Reduction of-cyclodextrin (-CD) aromatic ketone (acetophenone and acetonaphthones) inclusion compounds were carried out in the presence of a large number of chemically inert species as potential co-guests. In several cases, it was observed that stoichiometric molar ratios of these compounds to ketone significantly modify the chiral induction yielding the inverted alcohol enantiomer and increasing the face selectivity. The results were found to depend strongly on the respective structure and shape of both the ketone and the additive, and on the molar ratio of-CD:ketone:third compound. These observations suggest the formation of a three-component inclusion complex in which the geometry of binding of the substrate and its mobility are changed with respect to the binary system.     

Cr_2O_7~(2-)对B-Z振荡反应的影响及其分析应用

研究了Cr2O72-对B-Z化学振荡反应的影响.结果表明,Cr2O27-的加入明显改变该振荡反应的诱导期,且诱导期的改变值Δtin与所加入Cr2O72-的浓度有良好的线性关系,线性范围3.45×10-6~6.20×10-4mol·L-1,相关系数为0.9992,对Cr2O72-扰动B-Z振荡反应的机理进行了探讨.     

Photocrosslinking of copolymers of vinyloxyethyl methacrylate–styrene initiated by sulfonium salts. I. Transient species formed on photolysis of sulfonium salt

Benzyl cation was detected by transient absorption spectroscopy with a spectroscopic multichannel analyzer on pulse excitation (fourth harmonic of Nd:YAG laser, 266 nm; 10 ns fwhm) of benzyl(4-hydroxyphenyl) methylsulfonium hexafluoroantimonate(BSS) in 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC). The benzyl cation was long-lived (lifetime, 59 ms) at room temperature and quenched by a vinyl ether compound. The formation of the benzyl cation as active species on photolysis of BSS is in contrast to the formation of Brønsted acids in other sulfonium salts so far reported. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Proton-ionizable crown compounds. 11. Synthesis of macrocyclic ligands containing two sulfonamide groups and chloro substituents or pyridine subcyclic units and a preliminary study of cation transport by three of these ligands

Five new macrocyclic ligands each containing two sulfonamide groups have been prepared. Three of these compounds contain one or two chloro substituents and the other two have one or two pyridine subcyclic units. A seventeen-membered ring ligand (4) was found to be an excellent transport agent for all alkali metal cations in a water-methylene chloride-water bulk liquid membrane system when the pH of the source phase was 13 or higher. The chlorine-substituted analog (5) was a poor transport agent for the alkali metal cations possibly because the chlorine atom blocked entry to the macrocycle cavity. An open-chain analog containing two sulfonamide groups was particularly effective in transporting cesium ions.     

Synthesis and metal ion complexing properties of novel chromogenic cryptands

Four novel chromogenic benzocryptands and one side-armed chromogenic cryptand have been synthesized and their complexing abilities for alkali metal cations are described.
