Reactions of 1,2,4-Triazines with Nucleophiles. 6. Use of SNH Methodology for the Direct Introduction of Cyclic Diketone Residue into the 1,2,4-Triazine Ring FORENAME = D. N.

3-R-6-Phenyl-1,2,4-triazine 4-oxides react with cyclic -diketones (dimethylbarbituric acid, dimedone, and indan) in both acidic (substrate activation) and basic conditions (nucleophile activation) with formation of ^H-adducts, intermediates in the nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen (S_N ^H) in 3-R-5-Nu-4-hydroxy-6-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazines. Oxidative aromatisation of these intermediates or auto-aromatisation of acylated (benzoyl chloride) at the NOH -adducts with elimination of benzoic acid gave the corresponding substituted 1,2,4-triazine 4-oxides or 1,2,4-triazines.     

Selective mono-and diamination of polyfluorinated benzenes and pyridines with liquid ammonia

Amination of pentafluoropyridine, 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoropyridine, 4-chlorotetrafluoropyridine, 3,5-dichlorotrifluoropyridine, octafluorotoluene, α,α,α,2,3,5,6-heptafluorotoluene, decafluoro-m-xylene, decafluorobiphenyl, hexafluorobenzene, and pentafluorobenzene with liquid ammonia was investigated. Bis-aminodefluorination temperatures for the majority of substrates were shown to exceed significantly the corresponding temperatures of monoaminodefluorination. The optimal conditions for selective preparation of mono-and diaminopolyfluoro(het)arenes were elucidated. An efficient method for isolation of particular polyfluorophenylenediamines from product mixtures formed in nonselective reactions of pentafluorobenzene and hexafluorobenzene with aqueous ammonia based on complexation with a crown ether is proposed. Reaction of the carbonate radical with substituted anilines

Rate constants for the reaction of carbonate radical with aniline and some parasubstituted anilines have been determined by the flash photolysis technique. Using σ⁺ para values the rate constants at pH 8.5 correlate very well with the Hammett equation yielding ρ= − 1. The carbonate radical oxidises aniline giving the anilino radical. The products so formed have been identified through studies under conditions of continuous irradiation.     

4-(<Emphasis Type="Italic">N,N</Emphasis>-Dialkylthiocarbamoylthio)-5-nitropyrimidines as new potential nitric oxide donors

On heating at pH 6.86, 4-(N,N-dialkylthiocarbamoylthio)-5-nitropyrimidines are transformed into dithiolopyrimidines, which are either oxidized to bis(4-dialkylthiocarbamoylpyrimidin-5-yl) disulfides or converted into 4,6-diamino-5-nitropyrimidine derivatives with carbon disulfide elimination. The direction of the reaction is determined by the nature of a substituent in position 2 of pyrimidine and the bulk of the thiocarbamate substituent. Isentropic partial molal compressibilities of alcohols in propylene carbonate at 25°C

The isentropic coefficients of compressibility of the homologous series of alcohols and diols R _n CH₂OH (n=2–6), CH₃CHOHR _n (n=1–5), 1,2-propanediol, 1,3- 1,4- and 2,3-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, and 1,7-heptanediol dissolved in propylene carbonate have been measured at 25°C. Isentropic partial molal compressibilities and group partial molal compressibilities at infinite dilution have been evaluated. The isentropic partial molal compressibilities of these alcohols and diols have been compared with the corresponding values in water. This comparison shows that the values in propylene carbonate are higher than in water by a factor of 10 due to an increased compressibility of the solvation sheath around nonpolar groups in PC.     

Synthesis and characterization of new polyamides derived from di(4-cyanophenyl)isosorbide

New optically active polyamides were synthesized according to two ways: using a microwave-assisted polycondensation of an optically active isosorbide-derived diacylchloride with different aromatic diamines in NMP and using interfacial polymerization from an isosorbide-derived diamine with different diacylchlorides. The polymers are obtained with inherent viscosities in the range from 0.11 to 1.05 dL/g. The DSC and TGA measurements clearly demonstrate the high thermal stability of these polymers when considering the range of the melting points from 200 °C to 300 °C and the absence of decomposition till 350 °C.     

A novel effective electrophile: β-trifluoroacetylketene diphenyldithioacetal S,S-tetroxide

A synthesis of a novel electrophilic reagent--β-trifluoroacetylketene diphenyldithioacetal S,S-tetroxide 3 is described. The reaction of 3 with various electron-rich aromatics such as 1,3-dimethoxybenzene, 2-methylthiophene, N-methylpyrrole, and 2-methylindole was investigated. In the course of these reactions an unusual migration of a phenylsulfonyl group takes place. An easy and ready for scale-up procedure for the synthesis of previously unknown β-aryl, α-phenylsulphonyl substituted α,β-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones is reported.     

Scanning electron microscopic studies on different habits of gel grown doped manganese carbonate crystals

The effect of impurities on the growth of manganese carbonate crystals has been studied. Stereophotogrammetric analysis showed that all crystal faces have the same Miller indices and the peanut-shaped forms are twins with twin axis 0001.
