Synthesis of 1,3-bis(N,N-difluoroamino)adamantane: addition of difluoramino radicals to 1,3-dehydroadamantane

1,3-Dehydroadamantane undergoes a facile reaction with tetrafluorohydrazine to give 1,3-bis(N,N-difluoroamino)adamantane, the product of 1,3-NF₂ radical addition.     

Synthesis, Characterisation and UV-Vis Properties of Azocalix[4]crowns

This article describes the synthesis, structure andUV properties of azocalixcrowns in which the photoresponsivetrans-cis azo benzene unit has been introduced in the glycolicchains of the calix[4]crowns. The synthesis proceeded via the selective-1,3O-dialkylation of calix[4]arene with glycolic chains terminated bynitrophenyl residues. After reduction of thenitro groups into amino functions,intramolecular oxidative coupling produced thecapping of the calixarene. Thesynthetic approaches and the cis-transstructure of these new ligandsare discussed and full details on synthesesand structural data are given. Apreliminary example of cesium complexation byone of the ligands is proposed.     

Synthesis and properties of substituted 2-methylene-hydrazono-2,3-dihydro-3-benzo[<Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis>]furanones

The reaction of 2,3-dihydro-2,3-benzo[b]furandione with the triphenylphosphazines of diazo compounds leads to substituted 2-methylenehydrazono-2,3-dihydro-3-benzo[b]furanones, which are hydrolyzed in an acidic medium to the substituted methylenehydrazides of o-hydroxyphenylglyoxalic acid and react with amines to form the products of addition at the activated CH=N bond of the side chain or 2-hydrazono-2,3-dihydro-3-benzo[b]furanone respectively. __________ Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 6, pp. 817–822, June, 2007.     

2,2,4-Trimethylhydroquinolines in the Bischler-Melau Reaction

8-R-1-Aryl-4,4,6-trimethyl-4H-pyrrolo[3,2,1-ij]quinolines have been synthesized by the Bischler-Melau reaction in the series of 6-R-2,2,4-trimethylhydroquinolines.     

Reaction of vinyloxyalkylamines with mercaptoacetic acid

N-[2(3)-Hydroxyalkylj-4-thiazolidinones have been synthesized by the reaction of 2(3)-vinyloxyalkylamines with mercaptoacetic acid in 24–69 % yield. The i.r., u. v.,¹H n.m.r.,¹³C n.m.r., and¹¹B n.m.r. spectra of several substituted diphenylboron chelates derived from salicylaldehyde azomethines were compared with respect to the influence of the amine substituentR. O–B–N-6-ring constitution of the chelates29–32 [R=OH, NH₂, NHC₆H₅, N(CH₃)₂] can be deduced from the spectra.

A non-catalytic approach to the synthesis of 5,6-dihydrobenzo[h]quinolines

A concise synthesis of highly functionalized 5,6-dihydrobenzo[h]quinoline-3-carbonitriles is delineated through base induced ring transformation of 4-sec-amino-2-oxo-5,6-dihydro-2H-benzo[h]chromene-3-carbonitriles with S-methylisothiourea sulfate and 1-carboxamidinepyrazole hydrochloride, separately, in DMF. Under analogous reaction conditions the ring transformation of 4-sec-amino-2-oxo-5,6-dihydro-2H-benzo[h]chromene-3-carbonitriles by formamidine acetate provided 4-sec-amino-benzo[h]quinoline-3-carbonitriles in moderate yields, while with benzamidine hydrochloride, the reaction followed the same mechanism to yield 2-phenyl-4-sec-amino-5,6-dihydrobenzo[h]quinoline-3-carbonitriles.     

Synthesis of thieno[3.2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis>]pyrrolenine derivatives under the Fischer reaction conditions

The reaction of alkyl 4-(2-acetylhydrazino)-2-methyl-3-thiophenecarboxylates with 3-methylbutan-2-one was carried out under the Fischer reaction conditions. The influence of Lewis acids and solvents on the process was studied. A convenient method for the synthesis of thieno [3.2-b]pyrrolenine derivatives was proposed.__________Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Reaction paths of some open-shell reactive intermediates

The intermolecular interaction energy for reacting systems in singlet, triplet and doublet states was partitioned by the perturbation expansion method into the chemically meaningful five interaction terms: the Coulomb, exchange-repulsion, induction, dispersion, and charge-transfer energies. In the local ZDO approximation, these energy terms were evaluated for the dimerization of methylenes (^1,3CH₂), the additions of carbenes (^1,3CH₂ and^1,3CF₂) as well as amino radicals (²NH₂ and²NF₂) toward ethylene, and the hydrogen abstractions by methylenes (^1,3CH₂), nitrene (³NH), and hydroxyl radical (²OH) from methane. It has been found that the reaction path is much influenced by the spinmultiplicity, and that the charge-transfer and exchange-repulsion terms play a dominant role in determining the course of reactions.     

Carboxylic Acids from <Emphasis Type="Italic">Phyllanthus urinaria</Emphasis>

Five compounds, terephthalic acid mono-[2-(4-carboxy-phenoxycarbonyl)-vinyl] ester (1), (E)-3-(5′-hydroperoxy-2,2′-dihydroxy[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)-2-propenoic acid (2), 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid (3), succinic acid (or butanedioic acid) (4), and 2,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxybenzoic acid (5), were isolated from Phyllanthus urinaria.
