一类泛函微分方程周期解的存在性与应用

本文给出了一类滞后型泛函微分方程有一个周期解的四个充分性定理，其结果明显地优于著名的Ｙｏｓｈｉｚａｗａ周期解定理，最后给出了应用实例。     

Nuclearity of a nonnegative definite integral kernel on a separable metric space

The aim of this paper is to characterize the nuclearity of an integral operator, defined by a continuous non-negative definite square integrable kernel on a separable metric space, in terms of the integrability of the trace of the kernel function. Nuclearity here plays a role forU-statistics.     

Power expansions for the self-similar solutions of the modified Sawada-Kotera equation

The fourth-order ordinary differential equation that defines the self-similar solutions of the Kaup—Kupershmidt and Sawada—Kotera equations is studied. This equation belongs to the class of fourth-order analogues of the Painlevé equations. All the power and non-power asymptotic forms and expansions near points z = 0, z = ∞ and near an arbitrary point z = z ₀ are found by means of power geometry methods. The exponential additions to the solutions of the studied equation are also determined.      

An infinite dimensional affine nil algebra with finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension

The famous 1960's construction of Golod and Shafarevich yields infinite dimensional nil, but not nilpotent, algebras. However, these algebras have exponential growth. Here, we construct an infinite dimensional nil, but not locally nilpotent, algebra which has polynomially bounded growth.

     

Martingale property of empirical processes

It is shown that for a large collection of independent martingales, the martingale property is preserved on the empirical processes. Under the assumptions of independence and identical finite-dimensional distributions, it is proved that a large collection of stochastic processes are martingales essentially if and only if the empirical processes are also martingales. These two results have implications on the testability of the martingale property in scientific modeling. Extensions to submartingales and supermartingales are given.

     

Oxidative dehydrogenation of crotonaldehyde overK2HPMo12O40catalyst

Summary The oxidative dehydrogenation of crotonaldehyde to furan and maleic anhydride was carried out over K₂HPMo₁₂O₄₀catalyst. A positive effect of water vapor on furan formation is explained by ability of the catalyst to isomerize 2E- to 2Z-crotonaldehyde.</o:p>     

Relativistic Dynamics in Basic Chemistry

This paper revisits the historical sequence in which some of the major developments of 20th-century physics occurred, and explores how theories could have turned out differently, if the sequence of developments had been different. It shows how a delay in founding special relativity theory until after (1) at least one puzzling problem in electromagnetic theory could be acknowledged, and (2) sat least some of the experimental observations pertinent to the development of quantum mechanics had become well known, could have resulted in a larger theory that covers both domains in a manner quite different from that of any of the theories we use today. The revised theory dispenses with a separate postulate introducing Planck’s constant h, identifying instead a physical mechanism that implies the constant. Catalytic Activity of Nickel Alloys in Anodic Oxidation of the Hypophosphite Ion as a Function of Their Composition

The rate of anodic oxidation of the hypophosphite ion on alloys Ni-P, Ni-B, and Ni-Mo-P is studied as a function of their composition and structure. The organic compounds that are customarily used to stabilize electrolytes of electroless nickel plating are shown to come useful when controlling composition of the Ni-P coatings at the expense of their different influence on the rates of partial processes of deposition of the alloy components. The formation of catalytic activity of such coatings is affected mostly by a structural factor. With alloys Ni-P, Ni-B, and Ni-Mo-P, whose composition was varied by altering the concentration of the source of the alloying component, dependence of catalytic activity of the surface on the composition is defined mainly by an electronic factor.__________Translated from Elektrokhimiya, Vol. 41, No. 8, 2005, pp. 972–980.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by Sotskaya, Dolgikh, Ryabinina.
