Modeling and Simulation of Saturation Gain of IR Integrated Photonic Amplifiers

IR integrated photonic amplifiers at 1.55m operation will have good foreground in optical phasedarray radars for splitters and signal processing. The saturation gain characteristics of IR integrated photonic waveguide amplifiers (taken Er³⁺Yb³⁺ co-doped phosphate glass waveguide amplifiers as an example) are studied theoretically. For the homemade laser glass materials the calculated saturation intensities are 2.22kw /cm² for signal and 10.15kw/cm² for pump. The effects of absorption saturation of signal and pump lights on the gain of amplifiers are discussed.

Nanoscopic scale studies of LiFePO4 as cathode material in lithium-ion batteries for HEV application

We present a review of the structural properties of LiFePO₄. Depending on the mode of preparation, different impurities can poison this material. These impurities are identified and a quantitative estimate of their concentrations is deduced from the combination of X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements. An optimized preparation provides samples with carbon-coated particles free of any impurity phase, insuring structural stability and electrochemical performance that justify the use of this material as a cathode element a new generation of lithium secondary batteries.     

Synthesis and properties of amphoteric copolymer of 5‐vinyltetrazole and vinylbenzyl phosphonic acid

Amphoteric polymers have been studied for various applications such as separation of low molecular weight organic molecules from inorganic salt mixtures, selective ion transport, drug delivery through membranes of biological interest, separation of ionic drugs and proteins, and separation of alcohol and water. Typical amphoteric polymers consist of weak base and weak acid groups. In present study, the copolymerization of 5‐vinyltetrazole (VT) and diisopropyl‐p‐vinylbenzyl phosphate (DIPVBP) via free radical polymerization is studied. The reactivity ratio of VT and DIPVBP, which is calculated from Kelen‐Tudos plot, is 0.251 and 0.345, respectively. The amphoteric copolymer of VT and diisopropyl‐p‐vinylbenzyl phosphonic acid (poly(VT‐co‐VBPA)) is obtained from hydrolysis of the copolymer of VT and DIPVBP (poly(VT‐co‐DIPVBP)). Poly(VT‐co‐VBPA) is thermally stable under 190 °C. The anhydrous proton conductivity of amphoteric poly(VT‐co‐VBPA) can reach 1.54 × 10^‐4 S cm^?1 at 170 °C with an activation energy of 114.7 kJ mol^?1. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Chemical communication of enzymatic ATP hydrolysis using a fluorescent chemosensor

Abstract

An anthrylpolyamine chemosensor, whose fluorescence is partially quenced upon electrostatic complexation to ATP, can be used to monitor the action of an enzyme (apyrase) that hydrolyses ATP to AMP and inorganic phosphate.     

Complete NMR analysis of oxytocin in phosphate buffer

Complete NMR analysis of oxytocin (OXT) in phosphate buffer was elucidated by one‐dimensional (1D)‐ and two‐dimensional (2D)‐NMR techniques, which involve the assignment of peptide amide NH protons and carbamoyl NH₂ protons. The ¹H? ¹⁵N correlation of seven amide NH protons and three carbamoyl NH₂ protons were also shown by HSQC NMR of OXT without ¹⁵N enrichment. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Surfactant effect on the conductivity behavior of CsH2PO4: Characterization by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy

Cesium dihydrogen phosphate (CDP) nanoparticles were synthesized using the surfactants cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene (F-68) and (F-68:CTAB) with molar ratio 0.06. The samples conductivity such as CDP_CTAB, CDP_F-68 and CDP_{(F-68:CTAB)0.06} was studied by impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range 0.01 Hz to 1 MHz. The Nyquist plots were drawn at different temperatures of 210, 230 and 260 °C, which are defined below transition, phase transition and above transition, respectively. The measured conductivities obey the Arrhenius relation. The influence of surfactants on conductivity are more significant at higher temperature due to grain boundary. The conductivity of CDP_CTAB increased slightly with increasing temperature to 260 °C, whereas the conductivity of other samples decreased with increasing temperature over 230 °C. The results indicated that the conductivities increase in the order of CDP_CTAB>CDP_{(F-68:CTAB)0.06}>CDP_F-68. These are in accordance to the ion exchange capacities of the samples that the surfactant shows a direct influence on the samples proton mobility. It is found that the conductivity of CsH₂PO₄ is influenced by surfactant type.     

A 1.107 μm Yb3+-doped Phosphate Fiber Laser Pumped by a Ti:sapphire

Lasers and amplifiers in a single fiber have been developed rapidly, especially for optical fiber communication and various sensors, in the recent years. However, remarkable progress and achievement have been made mainly in silica fiber doped with rare earth elements. In this paper, we report the progress on the development of the Yb3+-doped phosphate fiber laser.     

Controversy about β-tricalcium phosphate

The calcium phosphate which corresponds to the formula Ca₃(PO)₄ · nH₂O (2<n<3) was isolated from solutions with Ca/P molar ratio 0.2 and pH 7. The compound was characterised by chemical and thermogravimetric analyses, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The FTIR spectra were compared with spectra of β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) in the atlases for analysis of urinary calculi and other literature data.     

Intercalation of heterocyclic compounds in α-zirconium phosphate: Imidazole,benzimidazole, histamine and histidine

The intercalation of imidazole and some organic species containing the imidazole ring, between the layers of crystalline zirconium phosphate has been investigated. Fourteen new, well-ordered intercalation compounds are obtained with the batch procedure at r.t. and/or 60°C. A mechanism of formation of the various compounds is proposed on the basis of the interaction between the guest molecules (with their dimensions and geometries) and the free PO₃OH groups available between the layers of the host. The new phases have been characterized by TG and X-ray methods.
