In this work attention has been focused on the effects of papermaking beating, web forming and sizing operations on the physical/chemical
surface properties of bleached Eucalyptus globulus kraft fibres. Inverse gas chromatography (IGC) was used to determine the dispersive component of surface tension (γsd) as well as the acidic/basic character (according to the Lewis concept) of the solid surfaces (pulp fibres and pulp handsheets).
The results have shown that the main effect of beating is to increase the fibre's Lewis acidic character. Web forming caused
a strong decrease in γsd and significant increments in the adhesion works of both acidic and basic probes, lowering the ratio between the two. Nevertheless,
the surface of handsheets still exhibited a dominant acidic character. The sizing operation did not change the dispersive
component of the surface tension significantly but decreased the difference between the adhesion works of the acidic and basic
probes, rendering the handsheet surface less Lewis acidic and more Lewis basic. Thus, although internal sizing is expected
to strongly influence liquid spreading at the paper surface and liquid penetration of the fibre's network, it is concluded
that beating and web forming lead to important changes in the surface energetic properties of the Eucalyptus globulus kraft fibres. 相似文献

The crystal structure of a second high-pressure copper vanadate phase, CuVO3(II), has been determined and refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures using automatic diffractometer data to a residual R = 0.042 (Rw = 0.051). The space group is rhombohedral, , with hexagonal unit cell a = 4.966(2) and c = 14.084(5) Å [aR = 5.501(2) Å and α = 53.66(3)°]. The structure is the fully ordered ilmenite-type and, on the basis of published magnetic data and the interatomic distances, the valence distribution Cu+V5+O3 is proposed. The apparent molal volumes and compressibilities of NaCl, KCl, and CsCl in mixtures of 18-Crown-6 and water have been calculated from density and speed-of-sound measurements at 25°C. The partial molal volumes and compressibilities of the salts when all cations have formed complexes with 18-Crown-6 molecules have been evaluated. The sign and magnitude of the volume and compressibility changes of complex formation strongly suggest that the charge of the cation becomes very effectively screened by the crown ether. 相似文献

Several derivatization procedures with o-phthaldialdehyde-N-acetylcysteine (OPA-NAC) were compared for a rapid analysis of primary aliphatic short-chain monoamines in water samples by HPLC using a LiChorospher analytical separation column (100RP18 mm i.d., 5 μm). Both the solution and the solid-support assisted off-line derivatization on C18 SPE cartridges were inadequate options because of beginning degradation processes of the instable isoindol derivatives during their transfer to the analytical column. This problem was precluded with the on-column or solid-support assisted on-line derivatization. In the last mentioned procedure, the derivatization took place in a Hypersil C18 precolumn ( mm i.d., 30 μm) connected with an additional preconcentration step resulting in better detection limits (0.002-0.040 μg ml−1 requiring only 150 μl of water sample) than in the on-column procedure (0.08-0.16 μg ml−1). The improved sample handling, the better control of parameters affecting reaction rates, the fully automation of this method with only 10 min analysis time for each sample are further advantageous. The potential of the solid-support assisted on-line derivatization was outlined and applied to water samples from several sources. Recovery values near 100% were obtained. 相似文献

The low vapor pressure and the versatility of the physico-chemical properties of ionic liquids make them really attractive as an alternative for conventional molecular solvents. The knowledge of their physico-chemical properties (viscosity, conductivity, miscibility with organic solvents and anion-cation interactions) has appeared mandatory for better targeting their applications, although it is generally still lacking or incomplete.This work promotes capillary electrophoresis instrumentation as an integrated apparatus for measurement of viscosity, conductivity and absorbance of pure ionic liquids and ionic liquid-molecular solvent mixtures. Compared to current conventional techniques, the assets of this instrumentation for this purpose are the combined availability of a pressure delivery system, power supply, diode array absorbance detector and thermoregulation device, allowing unattended, automatic and easy operation, involving minimum sample handling. Most importantly, the required sample volume can be reduced to about 50 μL, making this protocol very cost-effective. A protocol was optimized with respect to time, sample consumption and data reliability for the determination of these physico-chemical parameters. Ionic liquids selected for method development and validation differed in the nature of their cation (butyl- and ethyl-methylimidazolium) and anion (trifluoromethanesulfonate and bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide). Various molecular solvents were mixed with these ionic liquids (acetonitrile, methanol, dimethylformamide and trifluoroethanol) and the same physico-chemical properties were determined by optimized methods. The knowledge of these data should be of great support in various application areas, including the development of new separation media for capillary electrophoresis and chromatographic techniques. 相似文献

Vibrational (Raman and IR) spectra of the 1:1 complexes of dihalogermylene and dihalostannylene with 1,4-dioxane and PPh3 have been reported, the structures of the complexes Cl2Ge·C4H8O2 and Cl2Ge·PPh3 updated using high-resolution X-ray method. Quantum-chemistry calculations of the geometry and normal mode frequencies and eigenvectors were carried out for some of the complexes. The results show that in the structure of the polymeric solid complexes of X2M with 1,4-dioxane, intermolecular coordination XM plays a prominent role, whereas the corresponding complexes with PPh3 are monomeric. In the vibrational spectra of all the complexes, an inversion of symmetric and antisymmetric stretching νXM (X=Cl, Br; M=Ge, Sn) frequencies, found for ‘free’ X2MII particles, still persists, suggesting that the X2M moieties preserve their specifity as carbene analogues also in the complexes. 相似文献

As an extension of previous reports, the barium carbonate procedure has been optimized in detail for the preparation of apolar columns. The aim was to produce optimum overall column characteristics, and to maintain them unchanged under the prolonged influence of the highest possible temperature. The main parameters under optimization were glass variety, leaching of glass surface with aqueous HCl, and amount of barium carbonate deposited, while deactivation and coating were kept constant. The basic column characteristics were adsorption properties and thermostability of deactivation, acid/base behaviour and separation efficiency. They were determined by a new, quantitative testing procedure. Intense leaching was able to eliminate almost totally the differences between glass varieties and to create a well-defined glass surface. While untreated glass, leached glass, and barium carbonate treated glass showed specific weak points in the respective column quality, the combination of leaching and barium carbonate treatment yielded the highest and most stable quality. Some technical modifications of the preparation procedure are described, including deactivation in the gas phase, and use of pentane as a solvent for static coating. 相似文献

Water structure, surface force and adsorption behavior are investigated as a function of the overall density in the bulk region. The hydrogenation of ethyl 4-R-2,4-dioxobutyrates (R = phenyl, 2-furyl) at 5% Pt/Al2O3 catalyst, modified with cinchonidine, and at palladium black was investigated. The former had low activity under the conditions
we tested. The main products during the hydrogenation of these compounds at palladium black are ethyl 4-R-2-hydroxy-4-oxobutyrates.
The yield of the phenyl derivative amounts to 68.5%, while the yield of the corresponding 2-furyl derivative amounts to 97%.
In the last case ethyl 2-hydroxy-4-oxo-4-(2-tetrahydrofuryl)butyrate was detected as impurity. The optimum conditions for
the formation of ethyl 2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyrate (yield 88.2%) were determined.

NH2 groups. Introduction of a strong charge in the surroundings of immobilized sulfhydryls results in their dramatic stabilization
