In [13], real-time measurements from LANs, variable-bit-rate video sources, ISDN control-channels, the World Wide Web and other communication systems have shown that traffic exhibits a behaviour of self-similar nature. In this paper, we give new lower bounds to buffer-overflow and cell-loss probabilities for an ATM queue system with a self-similar cell input traffic and finite buffer. The bounds are better than those obtained in [20], in an important region of parameters. As in [20], they decay hyperbolically with buffer size, when the latter goes to infinity. However, in some region, a factor which accompanies the decay is higher in this paper than in [20]. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date. 相似文献

We study multi-type Bienaymé–Galton–Watson processes with linear-fractional reproduction laws using various analytical tools like the contour process, spinal representation, Perron–Frobenius theorem for countable matrices, and renewal theory. For this special class of branching processes with countably many types we present a transparent criterion for R-positive recurrence with respect to the type space. This criterion appeals to the Malthusian parameter and the mean age at childbearing of the associated linear-fractional Crump-Mode-Jagers process. 相似文献

A controlled modulation of magnetic properties through the inverse piezoelectric (PE) effect was investigated by means of the magneto-optical Kerr effect magnetometry in a periodic array of ferromagnetic (FM) Co50Fe50 stripes patterned on a commercial PE substrate. The coercive field (Hc) rise (up to 80% in virgin cycle and 25% in subsequent cycles) when a DC electric field (up to 75 kV/cm) is applied on the PE substrate manifests a magnetoelectric coupling between the PE substrate and adjacent FM layer. The electric field dependence of Hc resembles the shear strain response to electric field of the PE constituent. The differences in the hysteresis loops shape when the magnetic field is oriented parallel and perpendicular to the stripes, reveal the interplay of the shape and stress anisotropy of the ferromagnet. Besides the inherent difficulties on constructing, an epitaxial hybrid system is a promising candidate of future random access memories designation. 相似文献

We used atomic layer deposition to form ZnO thin-film coatings on Si substrates and then evaluate the effect of pile-up using the nanoscratch technique under a ramped mode. The wear volume decreased with increasing annealing temperature from room temperature to 400 °C for a given load. Elastic-to-plastic deformation occurred during sliding scratch processing between the groove and film for loading penetration of 30 nm. The onset of non-elastic behavior and greater contact pressure were evident for loading penetration of 150 nm; thus, full plastic deformation occurred as a result of a substrate effect. We suspect that elastic–plastic failure events were related to edge bulging between the groove and film, with elastic–plastic deformation attributable to adhesion discontinuities and/or cohesion failure of the ZnO films. 相似文献

We prove Lp Poincaré inequalities for the group measure space L∞(ΩH,γ)?G, where both the group action and the Gaussian measure space (ΩH,γ) are associated with the representation α . The idea of proof comes from Pisier?s method on the boundedness of Riesz transform and Lust-Piquard?s work on spin systems. Then we deduce a transportation type inequality from the Lp Poincaré inequalities in the general noncommutative setting. This inequality is sharp up to a constant (in the Gaussian setting). Several applications are given, including Wiener/Rademacher chaos estimation and new examples of Rieffel?s compact quantum metric spaces. 相似文献

We characterize the Banach spaces Y for which certain subspaces of operators from L1(μ) into Y have the Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás property in terms of a geometric property of Y, namely AHSP. This characterization applies to the spaces of compact and weakly compact operators. New examples of Banach spaces Y with AHSP are provided.
