An extension of the classical parabolized stability equations to flows strongly dependent on the two cross-stream spatial directions and weakly dependent on the streamwise one is applied to model the large-scale structures present in twin-jet configurations. The existence of these unsteady flow structures, usually referred to as wavepackets, has been demonstrated in the literature for both subsonic and supersonic round jets, along with their relation to the generation of highly directional noise emitted in the aft direction. The present study considers twin-jet configurations with different separations at high Reynolds number and subsonic conditions. The existing instability modes for the twin-jet mean flow, their dependence on the separation of the two jets, and the interaction between the wavepackets originating from the two jets is investigated here. Arising from the axisymmetric mode for single round jets, two dominant modes are found for twin jets: a varicose one, relatively insensitive to jets' proximity, but likely to be efficient in radiating noise; a sinuous one, whose amplification is strongly dependent on the jets' distance, and which can be expected to produce weaker acoustic signatures. 相似文献

Co10Cu90 alloys were prepared by melt spinning in a twin roller device at 5 m/s and 23 m/s tangential wheel velocities. The low temperature (5–300 K) magnetic and electron transport properties were investigated in as cast alloys and in samples annealed for 1 h at 923 K. Magnetoresistance (MR) measurements were performed between 35 K and 295 K, with applied field up to 0.85 T. For each condition, M–H loops and M(T) curves were measured and analyzed to estimate the mean Co particle size and the blocking temperature distribution, respectively. In the as cast condition, particle sizes between 2.3 nm and 5.7 nm and mean blocking temperatures between 31 K and 247 K are found; these alloys, cooled at these relatively low rates, show appreciable room temperature MR values (0.5–1.5% for 0.85 T). A minimum resistance is found at about 30 K in alloys with compositions up to 15 at% Co. 相似文献

In industrial and other types of non-controlled environments, an unbalanced rotating object may present characteristic out-of-plane vibration amplitude at a specific frequency. For this type of cases and as a first step towards a complete evaluation, it is only desired to visualize the effect of the vibration on the rotating object, or vice versa, for instance to achieve object balancing. Real time optical non-intrusive measurement techniques such as pulsed electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI), are well suited to study this rotating-vibrating object. The advantage offered by ESPI is that real-time fringe data is qualitatively analyzed while being observed on a TV monitor. The present paper proposes a qualitative method, based on pulsed ESPI, to separate rotation fringes from fringes solely related to vibration. The method relies on a high precision scheme that synchronizes and fixes an object point during rotation, without the use of an optomechanical object derotator. 相似文献
