Equilibrium CH-acidities of dimethyl 2-dimethoxyphosphoryl malonate and its thiophosphoryl analog

The pK _a values of dimethyl 2-dimethoxyphosphoryl malonate and of its thiophosphoryl analog have been measured by transmetallation using the inclusion complex of Li⁺ with [2.1.1]-cryptand as the metallation agent.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. The heat production of Wistar rat polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) was measured by an LKB 2277 Thermal Activity Monitor. When PMN were activited with phorbol-12-myristate13-acetate (PMA), the respiratory burst was recorded by greatly incr eased heat production. Experiment was also carred out in the present of the inhibitor, Total Flavonoids of Lycium Barbarum L. (TFL). The respiratory burst heat production peak was disappeared, but the heat production curve was higher than that of PMA because TFL increased the metabolic activities of PMN.

Molecular cloning and expression of an endo-β-1,4-d-glucanase I (avicelase I) gene from Bacillus cellulyticus K-12 and characterization of the recombinant enzyme

Bacillus cellulyticus K-12 Avicelase (Avicelase I; EC 3.2.1.4) gene (ace A) has been cloned in Escherichia coli by using the vector pT7T3U19 and HindIII-HindIII libraries of the chromosomal inserts. The libraries were screened for the expression of avicelase by monitoring the immunoreaction of the antiavicelase (immunoscreening). Positive clones (Ac-3, Ac-5, and Ac-7) contained the identical 3.5-kb HindIII fragment as determined by restriction mapping and Southern hybridization, and expressed avicelase efficiently and constitutively using its own promoter in the heterologous host. From the immunoblotting analysis, a polypeptide that showed a carboxymethylcellulase (CMCase) activity with an M _r , of 64,000 was detected. The recombinant endo 1,4-β- _d -glucanase I was purified to homogeneity from an intracellular fraction of E. coli by DEAE-Toyopearl M650, Phenyl Toyoperal M650, and TSK gel HW50S chromatography. The enzyme had a monomeric structure, its relative molecular mass being 65 kDa by gel filtration and 64 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The pI was 5.3 and the optimal pH was 4.6, and the enzyme was stable at pH 4.0–10.5. The enzyme had a temperature optimum of 50°C and was stable at 55°C for 48 h, and retained approx 20% of its activity after 30 min at 70°C. It showed high activity toward carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) as well as p-nitrophenyl-β-d-cellobioside, 4-methylumbelliferyl cellobioside, Avicel, filter paper, and some cellooligosaccharides. K _m values for CMC and Avicel were 7.6 and 85.2 mg/mL, respectively, whereas V _max values were 201 and 9.2 μmol · min⁻¹ · mg⁻¹, respectively. Cellotetraose (G4) was preferentially cleaved into cellobiose (G2) and cellopentaose (G5) was cleaved into G2 + cellotriose (G3), whereas cellohexaose (G6) was cleaved into G4 + G2 and, to a lesser extent, into G3 + G3. G3 was not cleaved at all. G2 was the main product of Avicel hydrolysis. G2 inhibited whereas Mg⁺⁺ stimulated the activity of CMCase and Avicelase. Hydrolysis of CMC took place with a rapid decrease in viscosity but a slow liberation of reducing sugars. Based on these results, it appeared that the cellulase should be regarded as endo type, although it hydrolyzed Avicel.     

Study of reactive ion etching of Si and SiO2 for CFxCl4−x gases

A parametric study of the etching of Si and SiO₂ by reactive ion etching (RIE) was carried out to gain a better understanding of the etching mechanisms. The following fluorocarbons (FCs) were used in order to study the effect of the F-to-Cl atom ratio in the parent molecule to the plasma and the etching properties: CF₄, CF₃Cl, CF₂Cl₂, and CFCl₃ (FC-14, FC-13, FC-12, and FC-11 respectively). The Si etch rate uniformity across the wafer as a function of the temperature of the wafer and the Si load, the optical emission as a function of the temperature of the load, the etch rate of SiO₂ as a function of the sheath voltage, and the mass spectra for each of the FCs were measured. The temperature of the wafer and that of the surrounding Si load strongly influence the etch rate of Si, the uniformity of etching, and the optical emission of F, Cl, and CF₂. The activation energy for the etching reaction of Si during CF₄ RIE was measured. The etch rate of Si depends more strongly on the gas composition than on the sheath voltage; it seems to be dominated by ion-assisted chemical etching. The etching of photoresist shifted from chemical etching to ion-assisted chemical etching as a function of the F-to-Cl ratio and the sheath voltage. The etch rate of SiO₂ depended more strongly on the sheath voltage than on the F-to-Cl ratio.

A combination of 2D-NMR-techniques including 2D-J-resolved spectroscopy, SECSY and¹H-¹³C-shift correlation is used to assign the¹H- and¹³C-spectrum of Maleopimaric acid methylester [17,19-Dinoratis-15-ene-4,13,14-tricarboxylic acid 4-methylester, 16-(1-methylethyl)cyclic-13,14-anhydrid (4, 8, 12)] (1).

     

Preparations and properties of polyurethane aqueous dispersion from uncatalyzed systems of H12MDI,PTAd/bisphenol A polyol,and DMPA

Aqueous dispersions of polyrethane (PU) containing ionic and nonionic hydrophilic segments were prepared in a prepolymer mixing process using substantial amount of solvent. The acid groups were neutralized with tertiary amine, and chain extension in aqueous media was carried out with triethylene tetramine. Average particle size and particle size distribution of the dispersion, and mechanical and viscoelastic properties of the emulsion cast films were determined.     

Molecular and crystal structure of nido-9-C5H5N-11-I-7, 8-C2B9H10: Supramolecular architecture based on hydrogen bonds X-H⋯I (X = B, C)

A single crystal X-ray diffraction study of a new iodine-containing cluster compound 9-(pyridine)-11-iodo-decahydro-7,8-dicarba-nido-undecaborane [9-C₅H₅N-11-I-7,8-C₂B₉H₁₀] has been performed. Crystal data: C₇H₁₅B₉NI, M = 337.39, monoclinic, space group P2₁/c, unit cell parameters: a = 9.348(1) Å, b = 11.159(1) Å, c = 13.442(2) Å, β = 98.13(1)°, V = 1388.1(5) ų, Z = 4, d _calc = 1.614 g/cm³, T = 295 K, F(000) = 648, μ = 2.276 mm^?1. The structure was solved by a direct method and refined in the full-matrix anisotropic approximation (isotropic for hydrogen atoms) to final agreement factors R ₁ = 0.0254, wR ₂ = 0.0454 for 2437 I _hkl ≥ 2σ_I from 3590 measured I _hkl (an Enraf-Nonius CAD-4 diffractometer, λMoK _α , graphite monochromator, θ/2θ-scanning). The molecules are joined into a supramolecular assembly by hydrogen bonds X-H?I (X = B, C).     

Study of bulk chain coupling reactions. I. Reaction between bisoxazolones and amine-terminated polyamide 12

2,2′-Bis(4,4-dimethyl-5(4H)-oxazolone) ( B3 ) and 2,2′-(1,2-ethylene)-bis(4,4-dimethyl-5(4H)oxazolone) ( B4 ) have been reacted in the bulk with α, ω-diamino polyamide-12 ( PA12 ) of M?_n = 1000. The reactions have been studied by SEC, and ¹H- and ¹³C-NMR and resulting polymers characterized by DSC and TGA. The chain coupling reaction is fast and gives high molar mass polymers within 10 min at 200°C with B4 while some side reactions occur with B3 leading to polymers of lower molar mass. The crystallinity of resulting polymers is lower than that of starting oligomer. However, the thermal stability is higher. Model reactions using B3 or B4 and hexamethylene diamine or 1-dodecanamine have been carried out and studied. An intramolecular cyclodehydration giving 2-imidazolin-5-ones takes place during the reactions. Higher cyclization extent is found in the presence of amino group excess. 2-Imidazolin-5-one heterocyclic structures are also observed in the chains of the polymers obtained from PA12 and B3 or B4 . © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
