Spin-orbit-like terms in semileptonic weak Hamiltonian

It is shown that new spin-orbit-like terms appear in the effective nonrelativistic weak Hamiltonian for nucleon provided that nuclear potential is taken into account. Arguments for their considerable enhancement, in particular, in relativistic nuclear model of Walecka are advanced. Received: 29 July 1999     

SERS decoding of micro gold shells moving in microfluidic systems

In this study, in situ surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) decoding was demonstrated in microfluidic chips using novel thin micro gold shells modified with Raman tags. The micro gold shells were fabricated using electroless gold plating on PMMA beads with diameter of 15 μm. These shells were sophisticatedly optimized to produce the maximum SERS intensity, which minimized the exposure time for quick and safe decoding. The shell surfaces produced well‐defined SERS spectra even at an extremely short exposure time, 1 ms, for a single micro gold shell combined with Raman tags such as 2‐naphthalenethiol and benzenethiol. The consecutive SERS spectra from a variety of combinations of Raman tags were successfully acquired from the micro gold shells moving in 25 μm deep and 75 μm wide channels on a glass microfluidic chip. The proposed functionalized micro gold shells exhibited the potential of an on‐chip microfluidic SERS decoding strategy for micro suspension array.     

Pressure-induced structural transition of nonionic micelles

We report dynamic light scattering and small angle neutron scattering studies of the pressure-induced structural transition of nonionic micelles of surfactant polyoxyethylene 10 lauryl ether (C12E10) in the pressure range 0 to 2000 bar. Measurements have been performed on 1 wt% C12E10 in aqueous solution with and without the addition of KF. Micelles undergo sphere to lamellar structural transitions as the pressure is increased. On addition of KF, rod-like micelles exist at ambient pressure, which results in rod-like to lamellar structural transition at a much lower pressure in the presence of KF. Micellar structural transitions have been observed to be reversible.      

Asymptotic behavior of solutions of second-order nonlinear impulsive differential equations

In this work, the asymptotic behavior of all solutions of second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations with impulses is investigated. By impulsive differential inequality and Riccati transformation, sufficient conditions of asymptotic behavior of all solutions of second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations with impulses are obtained. An example is also inserted to illustrate the impulsive effect.

Anisotropy of the angle resolved electron attenuation at crystal surfaces

Photoemission multiple scattering theory is used to describe the electron transport in the surface region of a crystal. Intensities of photoemission from core levels of atoms situated in subsurface atomic layers are calculated as a function of the emitter distance from the surface. The electron angle resolved attenuation length (ARAL) is extracted from the exponential fitting of the intensity decays of photoemission into different directions. Substantial anisotropy of the electron ARAL is found for the Cu(1 1 1) surface in Mg Kα photoexcitation of Cu 2p_3/2 levels and correlated with the orientation of highly packed atomic rows. Enhanced photoemission contributions from specific subsurface layers, caused by electron forward focusing effects, are reported.     

Simulation of the scattering in an atomic beam evaporated from a He film

We have simulated the scattering in a pulsed atomic beam evaporated from a superfluid ⁴He film. Assuming that the atoms leaving the surface of the film have an equilibrium Maxwellian distribution, we find that the experimentally observed deviations from Lambert's law are explained by scattering of the atoms after evaporation.     

A wave automaton for Maxwell's equations

This paper presents an extension to electromagnetic fields of the wave automaton, which was introduced in recent years for describing wave propagation in inhomogeneous media. Using elementary processes obeying a discrete Huygens' principle and satisfying fundamental symmetries such as time reversal and reciprocity, this new wave automaton is capable of modeling Maxwell's equations in 3+1 dimensions. It supplements the methods that were developed early for scalar and spinor fields. Received 19 July 2001

给出了二维障碍物弹性波散射场的一种近似积分形式 ,基于 Fourier变换法建立了均匀障碍物特征函数与其远场散射振幅中形状因子的关系式 ,最后就基体为锌 ,对圆形和椭圆形截面铁夹杂进行了计算机模拟 ,结果表明该反演方法对定量无损检测技术具有应用价值。
