Pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR is applied to investigate flow processes. In this case the NMR signal experiences phase modulation due to flow and signal attenuation due to the distribution of velocities. The velocity distribution consists of one part originating from diffusion and of a second part, the distribution of the directed motion. The usual PFG-experiment in which the gradient strength is incremented cannot distinguish between both. Incrementing velocity at constant gradient strength keeps the contribution from diffusion constant but changes the absolute width of the velocity distribution. So the signal is attenuated again, but only due to the distribution of the directed motion. The phase modulation as a signature of flow is not affected by this strategy, because velocity and gradient strength are Fourier conjugated. The key advantage of this approach is the possibility of measuring very low velocities, which only cause a very slight phase modulation that is easily covered by diffusion. Structure and properties are studied for binary blends composed of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(butylene succinate) (PBS). The rheological measurements in the molten state reveal that the entanglement molecular weight of PLA is lower than that of PBS. Further, the interfacial tension of the immiscible blend system is evaluated employing a rheological emulsion model and found to be 3.5 [mN/m]. Moreover, thermal analysis directly detects that addition of PBS enhances the crystallization of PLA even though PBS is in a molten state. Further, the cold-crystallization for quenched blends occurs at lower temperature than that for a quenched PLA. This would be attributed to the nucleating ability of PBS, leading to generation of PLA crystallites during the quench operation. 相似文献

A solution (10%, w/v) of whey protein soluble aggregates (WPISA) was pretreated with high-intensity ultrasound (HUS, 20 kHz) for different durations (10–40 min) before incubation with transglutaminase (TGase) to investigate the effect of HUS on the structural, physicochemical, rheological, and gelation properties of TGase cross-linked WPISA. Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) results showed that HUS increased the amounts of high-molecular-weight polymers/aggregates in WPISA after incubation with TGase. HUS significantly increased (P < 0.05) the degree of TGase-mediated cross-linking in WPISA, as demonstrated by a reduction in free amino group contents. HUS significantly increased (P < 0.05) the particle size, intrinsic fluorescence intensity, and surface hydrophobicity of TGase cross-linked WPISA, but had no significant impact (P > 0.05) on the zeta-potential or total free sulfhydryl group content of TGase cross-linked WPISA. The apparent viscosity and the consistency index of TGase cross-linked WPISA were significantly increased by HUS (P < 0.05), which indicated that HUS facilitated the formation of more high-molecular-weight polymers. HUS significantly increased (P < 0.05) the water holding capacity and gel strength of glucono-δ-lactone (GDL)-induced TGase cross-linked WPISA gels. The results indicated that HUS could be an efficient tool for modifying WPISA to improve its degree of TGase-mediated cross-linking, which would lead to improved rheological and gelation properties. 相似文献

Carrier systems for lipophilic drugs, such as the liquid crystalline systems (LCS) have been extensively studied to improve effect and selectivity. Retinyl palmitate (RP) is widely used in pharmaceutical and cosmetics products to improve the skin elasticity. The aim of this study was the development, characterization and the in vivo effectiveness of RP in non-ionic LCS structures. LCS containing polyether functional siloxane as oil phase, silicon glycol copolymer as surfactant and water in the ratio 30:10:60, with and without RP were studied. The results of the polarized light microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering and rheology analysis indicated the presence of typical LCS structures with lamellar arrangement. Regardless of the presence of RP, the rheological studies showed the pseudo plastic behavior of the systems. However, highest hysteresis area was verified when comparing the system in the presence and in the absence of RP. Stability study SAXS monitored, carried out up to 30 days in various storage temperature conditions (25±2 °C, 37±2 °C and 5±2 °C) demonstrated the great structural stability of the LCS systems. The in vivo effectiveness analysis suggests that the RP-loaded LCS provided a significant reduction of the orbicular wrinkles in human volunteers (P=0.048). 相似文献

Influence of rheological additives on char formation and fire resistance of intumescent coatings 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Styrene-butyl acrylate copolymer based fire retardant coatings were prepared using intumescent flame-retardant additives and mineral clay type rheological additives. Three different widely used nanoclays, organic-modified montmorillonite, palygorskite and sepiolite were applied in order to determine their effect on the flame retardancy. Significant differences were found when their heat-shielding activities were evaluated. It was observed that the addition of different clay particles in amount of 0.25 w% changes the char formation process; the height, the morphology, the structure and also the mechanical resistance of the protecting shield. The different geometry and composition of the additives induced different changes in fire performance. In case of palygorskite the catalytic effect of Fe accelerated mainly the thermal decomposition, therefore the fire resistance decreased. The plate-like montmorillonite reduced the extent of the intumescent char, whereas also improved the mechanical and sustained heat resistance of the fire protecting shield. The fibrous sepiolite of low Fe content assisted the development of efficient protecting shield, which exhibited optimal cell structure, suitable thickness, and thus ensured better heat-insulating performance. Consequently, fire retardant effect of sepiolite was found to be better than the other studied clay types. 相似文献

The interaction forces between adsorbed polymer layers were investigated. Two types of graft copolymers that were adsorbed on hydrophobic surfaces have been investigated: (i) a graft copolymer consisting of polymethylmethacrylate/polymethacrylic acid back bone (the B chain) on which several poly(ethylene oxide) chains are grafted (to be referred to as PMMA/PEOn); and (ii) a graft copolymer consisting of inulin (linear polyfructose with degree of polymerization > 23) (the A chain) on which several C12 chains are grafted (INUTEC SP1). In the first case adsorbed layers of the graft copolymer were obtained on mica sheets and the interaction forces were measured using the surface force apparatus. In the second case the interaction forces were measured using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). For this purpose a hydrophobically modified glass sphere was attached to the tip of the cantilever of the AFM and the glass plate was also made hydrophobic. Both the sphere and the glass plate contained an adsorbed layer of INUTEC SP1.In the surface forces apparatus one essentially measures the energy E(D)–distance D curves for the graft copolymer of PMMA/PEOn between mica surfaces bearing the graft copolymer and this could be converted to interaction energy between flat surfaces. Using the de Gennes scaling theory, it is possible to calculate the interaction energy between the polymer layers. The same graft copolymer was used in latex dispersions and the high frequency modulus G′∝ was measured as a function of the volume fraction ? of the dispersion. This high frequency modulus could be related to the potential of mean force. In this way one could compare the results obtained from rheology and those obtained from direct measurement of interaction forces.In the AFM method, the interaction forces are measured in the contact area between two surfaces, i.e. a spherical glass particle and a glass plate. Both glass spheres and plates were hydrophobized using dichlorodimethylsilane. Results were obtained for adsorbed layers of INUTEC SP1 in water and in the presence of various concentrations of Na2SO4 (0.3, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.5 mol dm− 3). All results showed a rapid increase of force with a decrease of separation distance and the forces were still repulsive up to the highest Na2SO4 concentration. One hundred consumers evaluated three types of set yoghurt made from: 100% pressure treated milk (PTM; 600 MPa for 15 min), 100% heat treated milk (HTM; 85 °C for 20 min) and a mixture containing 10% PTM and 90% HTM. There was no significant difference between appearance liking or texture liking of the three yoghurt types, though the texture score of PTM yoghurt and mixed milk yoghurt were both higher than HTM yoghurt. Creaminess score for PTM yoghurt was significantly higher than for HTM yoghurt; mixed milk yoghurt was significantly different from HTM yoghurt but not from PTM yoghurt. Concerning taste liking, PTM yoghurt scored significantly less than mixed milk yoghurt, with HTM yoghurt between these two. 57% of consumers preferred the HTM to PTM yoghurt, giving taste as their main criteria; those preferring PTM yoghurt based their choice on texture. Rheological assessments showed differences in gel structure, which justify consumer texture and creaminess choices. 相似文献
