This is the second of a two part investigation. Experiments were performed in a 50.8 mm diameter horizontal pipe with three 6.35 mm diameter branches located at the test section mid-span. The inlet length was 1.8 m, and three branch orientations were tested at 0° (side), 45° (inclined), and 90° (bottom) from horizontal. Water and air, operating at 206 kPa, were used and both fluids flowed co-currently within the inlet in the smooth-stratified regime. The inlet superficial velocity of the liquid phase ranged between 0.04 and 0.15 m/s while in the gas phase values of 0.3, 0.4, and 1 m/s were tested. Three different dual discharge combinations were tested and included side-inclined, side-bottom, and inclined-bottom. The tested branch flow Froude numbers were limited between low to moderate values which ranged between 1 and 23. Extensive experimental data are reported for the critical conditions at the onset of gas entrainment during dual discharge. A novel map was developed for the inclined-bottom branch configuration showing the relationship between the inlet superficial liquid velocity and branch Froude numbers. This map was used to quantify the three observed modes of gas entrainment during dual discharge. These modes were classified as onset of gas entrainment in the inclined branch only, in the bottom branch only, or both the inclined and bottom branches simultaneously. The critical height at the onset of gas entrainment results are compared to published models and data sets and poor agreement was found with studies conducted in stratified gas–liquid reservoirs.  相似文献

径向基函数形状参数的选择在无单元法数值计算中一直是一个热门的问题,现在已总结出许多确定形状参数的经验公式. 但还没有相关研究表明这些形状参数是如何随着影响域尺寸而变化的. 本文研究了MQ(multi-quadrics) 径向基函数中形状参数对无单元法计算误差的影响. 首先,从理论上分析了形函数导数随着形状参数值的变化趋势,和以计算点为中心节点对称布置与不对称布置的形函数导数的变化规律;然后分析了影响域尺寸对误差的影响,得到了在不同影响域尺寸下,误差随形状参数值变化的规律;在此基础上,给出了影响域范围值.  相似文献

螺栓法兰连接结构在航空航天等工程领域中广泛应用,其力学性能在不同工况和装配情况下十分复杂。由于拉压刚度差异,含连接结构的箭体动力学响应呈现明显的非线性特征。因此,考虑不同连接参数及工况下的连接非线性动力学响应,对结构优化设计有着重要意义。本文针对以双线性弹簧表征螺栓法兰连接非线性的箭体等效动力学模型,基于径向基函数(RBF)神经网络和响应面法分别建立其连接面处的极值响应代理模型,对比发现RBF神经网络模型在较高精度上可以实现对动响应极值的预测及分析;同时分析了不同载荷参数及刚度变化对连接结构动响应极值的影响;最后,利用RBF神经网络代理模型,开展了连接面加速度极值响应与螺栓弹簧力最小化为目标的连接结构参数优化。  相似文献

Gauge‐independent atomic orbital (GIAO) method at Hartree‐Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) levels, respectively, was employed to calculate 19F NMR chemical shieldings of solid state alkaline‐earth‐metal fluorides MF2 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba). The results show that, although the calculated 19F chemical shieldings tend to be larger than the experimental values, they have a fairly good linear relationship with the observed ones. The calculated results based on different combinations of basis sets show that the B3LYP (a hybrid of DFT with HF) predictions are greatly superior to the HF predictions. When a basis set of metal atom with effective core potential (ECP) has well representation of valence wavefunction, especially wavefunction of d component, and proper definition of core electron number, it can be applied to obtain 19F chemical shielding which is close to that of all‐electron calculation. The variation of 19F chemical shielding of alkaline‐earth‐metal fluorides correlates well with the lattice factor A/R2.  相似文献

We present a new non‐intrusive model reduction method for the Navier–Stokes equations. The method replaces the traditional approach of projecting the equations onto the reduced space with a radial basis function (RBF) multi‐dimensional interpolation. The main point of this method is to construct a number of multi‐dimensional interpolation functions using the RBF scatter multi‐dimensional interpolation method. The interpolation functions are used to calculate POD coefficients at each time step from POD coefficients at earlier time steps. The advantage of this method is that it does not require modifications to the source code (which would otherwise be very cumbersome), as it is independent of the governing equations of the system. Another advantage of this method is that it avoids the stability problem of POD/Galerkin. The novelty of this work lies in the application of RBF interpolation and POD to construct the reduced‐order model for the Navier–Stokes equations. Another novelty is the verification and validation of numerical examples (a lock exchange problem and a flow past a cylinder problem) using unstructured adaptive finite element ocean model. The results obtained show that CPU times are reduced by several orders of magnitude whilst the accuracy is maintained in comparison with the corresponding high‐fidelity models. Currently, the usefulness of proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is limited to computational domains with fixed meshes and fixed boundaries. This paper presents a new POD method that enables the modeling of flow through computational domains with deforming meshes and/or moving boundaries. To achieve this goal, the solution is approximated using basis functions which, although not explicitly functions of time, depend on parameters associated with flow unsteadiness. Results are shown for transonic flow through the Tenth Standard Configuration. Comparisons are made between this method and the standard approach for on- and off-reference flow conditions. This method properly captured flow nonlinearities and shock motion for cases in which the classical POD method failed.  相似文献

An approach for the shape optimization of fluid–structure interaction (FSI) problems is presented. It is based on a partitioned solution procedure for fluid–structure interaction, a shape representation with NURBS, and sequential quadratic programming approach for optimization within a parallel environment with MPI as direct coupling tool. The optimization procedure is accelerated by employing reduced order models based on a proper orthogonal decomposition method with snapshots and Kriging. After the verification of the FSI optimization, the functionality and efficiency of the reduced order modeling as well as the corresponding optimization procedure are investigated.  相似文献

A reduced form of Navier–Stokes equations is developed which does not have the usual minimum axial step size restriction. The equations are able to predict accurately turbulent swirling flow in diffusers. An efficient single sweep implicit scheme is developed in conjunction with a variable grid size domain-conforming co-ordinate system. The present scheme indicates good agreement with experimental results for (1) turbulent pipe flow, (2) turbulent diffuser flow, (3) turbulent swirling diffuser flow. The strong coupling between the swirl and the axial velocity profiles outside of the boundary layer region is demonstrated.  相似文献
