Abstract

Schiff's bases constitute a class of pharmaceutical and medicinally important molecules. The conventional methods for the synthesis of Schiff's bases require long reaction times and use of organic solvents. We report a novel and eco-friendly condensation reaction method permitting the “green synthesis” of various Schiff's bases by stirring 1,2-diaminobenzene with various aromatic aldehydes in water as solvent. This method is experimentally simple, clean, high yielding, green, and with reduced reaction times. The product is purified by simple filtration followed by washing with water and drying processes.  相似文献

The title compound, C14H11NO4, exists in the solid phase in the zwitterionic form, 2‐{[(4‐carboxy‐3‐hydroxyphenyl)iminiumyl]methyl}phenolate, with the H atom from the phenol group on the 2‐hydroxybenzylidene ring transferred to the imine N atom, resulting in a strong intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond between the iminium H atom and the phenolate O atom, forming a six‐membered hydrogen‐bonded ring. In addition, there is an intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bond between the carboxylic acid group and the adjacent hydroxy group of the other ring, and an intermolecular C—H...O contact involving the phenol group and the C—H group adjacent to the imine bond, connecting the molecules into a two‐dimensional network in the (10) plane. π–π stacking interactions result in a three‐dimensional network. This study is important because it provides crystallographic evidence, supported by IR data, for the iminium zwitterionic form of Schiff bases.<!?tpb=12pt>  相似文献

In the present study a series of new Schiff bases were synthesized. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, mass spectral and elemental analyses. Newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) activity. The results revealed that, compounds 3f and 3c have exhibited significant biological activity against the tested microorganisms.  相似文献

2-Keto-3-mercaptocinchoninic acid derivatives 1a and b react with Schiff's bases 2a–d in toluene at refluxing temperature to give thiazino[6,5-c]quinoline derivatives 4a–h. Also, refluxing of 1a and b with arylazomalononitriles 5a–d in acetic acid afforded the thiazolo[6,5-c]quinoline derivatives 7a–d. The structure of all the newly synthesized products was confirmed based on elemental and spectral data.  相似文献

A series of 2,2′-(dihydropyrimidine-1,3(2H,4H)-diyldimethanediyl)bis(substituted-phenols) was synthesized using a Mannich-type reaction between the macrocyclic aminal 1,3,7,9,13,15,19,21-octaazapentacyclo[19.3.1.13,7.19,13.115,19]octacosane (OAPO) (1) and substituted phenols in basic media. These previously unreported compounds were separated from the reaction mixture by column chromatography in highly pure form with 25–75% yields. The most stable conformer was predicted using AM1-type semiempirical quantum chemical calculations.  相似文献

The reaction of 1H‐indol‐2,3‐diones with 1,6‐dibromohexane has resulted in the formation of new 1H‐indol‐2,3‐diones‐1,1′‐(1,6‐hexanediyl)bis in quantitative yields. These compounds have been used for the synthesis of novel [3′‐(2,3‐dimethyl‐5‐oxo‐1‐phenyl‐3‐pyrazolin‐4‐yl)spiro[3H‐indol‐3,2′‐thiazolidine]‐2,4′‐dione]‐1,1′‐(1,6‐hexanediyl)bis via bis Schiff's bases, [3‐(2,3‐dimethyl‐5‐oxo‐1‐phenyl‐3‐pyrazolin‐4‐yl) imino‐1H‐indol‐2‐one]‐1,1′‐(1,6‐hexanediyl)bis.  相似文献

The Schiff base ligand, 1‐phenyl‐3‐methyl‐5‐hydroxypyrazole‐4‐methylene‐8′‐quinolineimine, and its CuII, ZnII, and NiII complexes were synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of the ZnII complex was determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, indicating that the metal ions and Schiff base ligand can form mononuclear six‐coordination complexes with 1:1 metal‐to‐ligand stoichiometry at the metal ions as centers. The binding mechanism and affinity of the ligand and its metal complexes to calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) were investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence titration spectroscopy, EB displacement experiments, and viscosity measurements, indicating that the free ligand and its metal complexes can bind to DNA via an intercalation mode with the binding constants at the order of magnitude of 105–106 M –1, and the metal complexes can bind to DNA more strongly than the free ligand alone. In addition, antioxidant activities of the ligand and its metal complexes were investigated through scavenging effects for hydroxyl radical in vitro, indicating that the compounds show stronger antioxidant activities than some standard antioxidants, such as mannitol. The ligand and its metal complexes were subjected to cytotoxic tests, and experimental results indicated that the metal complexes show significant cytotoxic activity against lung cancer A 549 cells.  相似文献

A series of symmetrical trimeric liquid crystalline compounds of which the molecular structure with a central core of 1,3,5-benzene attached by three rod-like mesogenic Schiff base moieties via the propylene spacers and ether linkages has successfully been synthesised and characterised by infra red and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic techniques. All the star-shaped compounds in this series exhibit predominantly SmC phase except the analogue possessing terminal C8H17 group. It is apparent that the members with even parity from C10H21 to C16H33 show enantiotropic SmC phase while the member with longest terminal chain of C18H37 is inclined to monotropic smectogen. The X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that the tilted smectic layer structures of the SmC phase are confirmed to have an obvious sharp peak at small angles of 2θ ~ 1.03°–1.48° with d-spacing values of 4.01–4.58 nm, which are corresponding to tilt angles of ~48° in the SmC phase.  相似文献
