Effect of textural characteristics on the catalytic performance of supported KCoMoS2 in the synthesis of higher alcohols from syngas

The influence of textural characteristics on the catalytic performance of supported KCoMoS₂ catalysts was explored to provide essential information for the design of better catalysts for the synthesis of higher alcohols (C₁–C₅) from syngas. Syngas conversion was carried out over KCoMoS₂ catalysts supported on various mesoporous (alumina and carbon-coated alumina) and microporous (two types of powdered activated carbons) materials. The experimental results show that catalysts supported over microporous materials exhibit higher catalytic activity in HAS from syngas than catalysts based on mesoporous materials.     

Highly Homogeneous Stereocontrolled Construction of Quaternary Hydroxyesters by Addition of Dimethylzinc to α‐Ketoesters Promoted by Chiral Perhydrobenzoxazines and B(OEt)3

A highly efficient enantioselective addition of Me₂Zn to α‐ketoesters, assisted by a chiral perhydro‐1,3‐benzoxazine ligand, is described. This novel catalytic system offers homogeneous elevated enantioselectivities in the preparation of α‐hydroxyesters that bear a quaternary stereocenter, with a minor dependence on electronic and steric effects when aromatic, heteroaromatic, or aliphatic α‐ketoesters are employed. The catalyst can be recovered and reused without loss of activity.     

Complexation and transport of amino acid esters and their salts with synthesised chiral novel aza crown ether derivatives

The syntheses of four aza-15-crown-5 ethers bearing phenyl and phenoxymethyl moieties attached to a stereogenic centre on the crown ring were achieved. Macrocycles have exhibited strong binding ability (K_a = 5364–12,969 M^? 1) and modest enantiomeric discrimination towards the enantiomers of amino acid methyl ester salts by UV titration method in CHCl₃ at 25°C. Computer modelling results supported experimental data providing a detailed understanding of the molecular recognition mode between hosts and guests and the likely binding sites involved. Macrocycles were used for chiral discrimination of amino acids in their zwitterionic forms or as potassium and sodium salts in transport experiments across a bulk chloroform membrane with satisfactory selectivity.     

Dabco-Catalysed Reactions of Salicylaldehydes with Acrylate Derivatives

Treatment of salicylaldehydes with acrylate derivatives in the presence of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) has been shown to afford both coumarin and chromene derivatives, and factors influencing the product distributions have been investigated.     

Efficient and Ecofriendly Protocol for Tetrahydropyranylation/Depyranylation of Alcohols in the Presence of Tin(II) Chloride Dihydrate

A mild, efficient, and solvent‐free protocol for tetrahydropyranylation of alcohols in the presence of a catalytic amount of SnCl₂ · 2H₂O is reported. Simple filtration of the reaction mixture through a short silica‐gel pad gives the pure products in excellent yields. Depyranylation can also be achieved by adding methanol under similar reaction conditions.     

Polystyrene‐supported Pd(II) complex‐catalysed carboacylation of 2‐arylpyridines with alcohols via C─H bond activation under solvent‐free conditions

Polystyrene‐supported N ,N ‐dimethylethylenediamine Pd(II) complex C was used as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of aromatic ketones via ortho ‐acylation of sp² C─H bonds of 2‐arylpyridines with alcohols as effective coupling partners. The alcohols were oxidized with tert ‐butyl hydroperoxide to their corresponding aldehydes in situ and efficiently coupled with 2‐arylpyridines to form aryl ketones under solvent‐free conditions. Furthermore, catalyst C could be easily recovered by simple filtration and reused for five cycles without any significant decrease in its activity.     

A Gold(I)‐Catalyzed Domino Coupling of Alcohols with Allenes Enables the Synthesis of Highly Substituted Indenes

The reaction of aryl‐substituted allenes with alcohols under gold catalysis led to highly substituted indenes in good yields, with low catalyst loading and under mild conditions. During this domino transformation, two C?C bonds are formed with water as the only byproduct.     

Novel Effectively Carbonaceous and Sulfurated Hydrogen Corrosion Inhibitors on the Basis of Organosulfurphosphorus Compounds

Abstract

Novel ammonium salts of O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acids were obtained by one-pot synthesis from white phosphorus, elemental sulfur, industrial alcohols or phenols, and amines. Long-chain S-alkyl O,O-dialkyldithiophosphonates were prepared by the reaction of red phosphorus with elemental sulfur, alcohols, and the cheap industrial fractions of С₁₆–С₁₈ and С₂₀–С₂₆ of higher α-olefins in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst. The dithiophosphates obtained possess the high anticorrosion activities toward mild steel.     

N,N ′-Diiodo-N,N′-1,2-ethanediylbis(p-toluenesulfonamide) as an Efficient Catalyst for Acetylation of Alcohols,Phenols, Amines,and Thiols Under Solvent-Free Conditions

N,N′-Diiodo-N,N′-1,2-ethanediylbis(p-toluenesulfonamide) (NIBTS) is a highly efficient catalyst for the acetylation of alcohols, phenols, amines, and thiols under solvent-free conditions. Primary, secondary, tertiary alcohols; phenols; amines; and thiols can be easily acetylated in good to excellent yields at 80 °C.
