An ultrahigh vacuum scanning Kelvin probe force microscope (UHV SKPM) based on the gradient of electrostatic force was developed using the technique of a UHV non-contact atomic force microscope (NC-AFM) capable of atomic level imaging, and used for simultaneous observation of contact potential difference (CPD) and NC-AFM images. The CPD images with a potential resolution of less than 10 meV were observed in the UHV SKPM, demonstrating an atomic level resolution. The change of potential corresponding to the charges on the insulated surface of polypropylene have been observed in UHV SKPM. We also demonstrated a reliable method to obtain the CPD from the bias voltage dependence curves of the frequency shift in all of the scanning area. The results are consistent with comparing the barrier height images in that the work functions of adatoms are greater than the work function of corner holes.  相似文献

The effect and efficiency of three nucleating agents, a sorbitol based clarifier, a traditional heterogeneous nucleating agent and poly(vinylcyclohexane) (PVCH) was studied in polypropylene (iPP) homopolymer. The nucleating agents were added to iPP in different amounts; PVCH in 0–200 ppm, while the other two in 0–2000 ppm. Optical and mechanical properties were determined on injection molded plates or bars, respectively. Nucleation efficiency was studied by thermal analysis, while structure was characterized by polarized light (PLM), scanning electron (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Nucleus density was calculated using the method of Lamberti, which is based on the kinetic theory of the crystallization developed by Lauritzen and Hoffmann. The results proved that the nucleating agents modify properties in different ways and extent. PVCH is very efficient already at small concentrations and increases the stiffness of iPP considerably more than the other two compounds. On the other hand, the clarifier and the traditional nucleating agent induce better optical properties even at smaller efficiency. The structure developing in the presence of the three nucleating agents is also different. The clarifier forms a network in iPP and induces the formation of a microcrystalline structure according to the former literature data. Microspherulitic structure develops in the presence of the heterogeneous nucleating agent studied, while relatively large supermolecular units form in iPP nucleated by PVCH even under the conditions of injection molding. The calculation of nucleus density by existing models and the comparison of the results to optical properties proved that haze is determined by the size of the supermolecular units of the polymer and this latter depends on nucleus density.  相似文献

An optical microwave filter architecture which can be continuously tuned is proposed and demonstrated. The architecture is based on a nematic liquid crystal spatial light modulator in parallel configuration and has the potential to control a large number of taps. The prediction of the high-cycle fatigue strength of polymeric and composite materials in asymmetric loading is considered. The problem is solved on the basis of a nonlinear model of ultimate state allowing us to describe all typical forms of the diagrams of ultimate stresses. The material constants of the model are determined from the results of fatigue tests in symmetric reversed cycling, in a single fatigue test with the minimum stress equal to zero, and in a short-term strength test. Birefringent filters can be used for tuning lasers, with some advantages over prisms, gratings and tilted etalons. In this paper the transmission characteristics of a new mixed birefringent filter are investigated. The term ‘mixed’ is used because both circular birefringence and linear birefringence have been utilized in the fabrication of this filter.It has a loss-less core, formed by a cascaded system of alternate rotators and retarders, and a linear polarizer at each end. The performance of this filter is better because of the more effective suppression of side peaks. Unlike previous birefringent filters, this one may be used inside a linear resonator.  相似文献

State and parameter estimations of non-linear dynamical systems, based on incomplete and noisy measurements, are considered using Monte Carlo simulations. Given the measurements, the proposed method obtains the marginalized posterior distribution of an appropriately chosen (ideally small) subset of the state vector using a particle filter. Samples (particles) of the marginalized states are then used to construct a family of conditionally linearized system of equations and thus obtain the posterior distribution of the states using a bank of Kalman filters. Discrete process equations for the marginalized states are derived through truncated Ito-Taylor expansions. Increased analyticity and reduced dispersion of weights computed over a smaller sample space of marginalized states are the key features of the filter that help achieve smaller sample variance of the estimates. Numerical illustrations are provided for state/parameter estimations of a Duffing oscillator and a 3-DOF non-linear oscillator. Performance of the filter in parameter estimation is also assessed using measurements obtained through experiments on simple models in the laboratory. Despite an added computational cost, the results verify that the proposed filter generally produces estimates with lower sample variance over the standard sequential importance sampling (SIS) filter.  相似文献

A channel drop filter system that consists of two waveguides and three cavities is studied. One cavity couples with both waveguides, while the other two work as resonant mirrors to reflect the selected channel back into the system. The operation of this configuration is analyzed, using coupled mode theory. The conditions to achieve 100% in-plane channel transfer are derived. A method to suppress the side lobes of reflection and backward drop is also proposed. The direct coupling between the cavities is not required. The analysis is verified by two-dimensional finite difference time domain simulations in 2D hexagonal photonic crystals.  相似文献
