Summary The rheological properties of vinylon fiber suspensions in polymer solutions were studied in steady shear flow. Shear viscosity, first normal-stress difference, yield stress, relative viscosity, and other properties were discussed. Three kinds of flexible vinylon fibers of uniform length and three kinds of polymer solutions as mediums which exhibited remarkable non-Newtonian behaviors were employed. The shear viscosity and relative viscosity (

) increased with the fiber content and the aspect ratio, and depended upon the shear rate. Shear rate dependence of

was found only in the low shear rate region. This result was different from that of vinylon fiber suspensions in Newtonian fluids. The first normal-stress difference increased at first slightly with increasing fiber content but rather decreased and showed lower values for high content suspensions than that of the medium. A yield stress could be determined by using a modified equation of Casson type. The collapse (globulization) of an ideal heteropolymer chain under the action of an external attractive field is considered. The problem of the collapse of different types of primary structures, including mobile, periodic, large-block, and statistical structures, is formulated. It is shown that for a random heteropolymer, the mathematical image of the globular state is the chain-length independence of the probability distribution of a random thermal distribution function of the end monomer coordinates. The free energy per monomer of a chain in a globular state and local densities of monomers of all types are shown to be a self-averaging quantities. An exactly solvable model is proposed for a globule formed by a statistical heteropolymer chain. In this model, different types of monomers are attracted to different centers by linear elastic forces with identical elastic constants. The modulus of elasticity is obtained for a heteropolymer globule with respect to the attraction of different types of monomers in different directions. It is shown that this modulus is higher for a short-periodic polymer than for a statistical one. 相似文献

We proposed a novel method for fabricating polymer compound microlenses (PCMLs) using micro-inkjet technique and subsequent curing process. Two different types of PCMLs with sandwich microstructure (PDMS-Glycerol-PDMS), concave and convex PCMLs, have been designed and fabricated in experiments. Convex PCML has two real images and two foci. The concave PCML has one real and one virtual focal planes, which can generate one real image and one virtual image respectively. Moreover, the diameter of concave PCML can be controlled by adjusting the curing time and temperature. The proposed method is simple, efficient and suitable for realizing large-scale high numerical aperture PCMLs array, which has potential applications in diverse optical systems such as optical storage and three-dimensional imaging. 相似文献

The optical, electrical and acoustical properties of polymer solutions based on polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) doped with cupric sulphate (CuSO4) were studied. The polymer solutions were prepared by varying the concentration of Cu in the PVP using a simple chemical route. The UV-visible spectroscopy results showed that the optical absorbance decreased with an increase in wavelength from 300 to 700 nm. The optical band gaps were found to decrease with addition of the Cu salt in the polymer. The refractive index also showed significant variation with the doping of the CuSO4. The electrical conductivity of the polymer solutions was found to increase with temperature as well as concentration of Cu while the activation energy of electrical conduction decreased with concentration of Cu. The ultrasonic velocities of the polymer solutions were measured at a frequency of 1 MHz using an ultrasonic interferometer. The ultrasonic velocity and surface tension were increased while the adiabatic compressibility, acoustic impedance and intermolecular free length, the average distance between the surfaces of the coils of adjacent molecules, were decreased with increase in the concentration of CuSO4 in the PVP. 相似文献

Piezoelectric shunt damping has been widely used in vibration suppression, sound absorption, noise elimination, etc.In such applications, the variant elastic constants of piezoelectric materials are the essential parameters that determine the performances of the systems, when piezoelectric materials are shunted to normal electrical elements, i.e., resistance,inductance and capacitance, as well as their combinations. In recent years, many researches have demonstrated that the wideband sound absorption or vibration suppression can be realized with piezoelectric materials shunted to negative capacitance. However, most systems using the negative-capacitance shunt circuits show their instabilities in the optimal condition, which are essentially caused by the singular variation properties of elastic constants of piezoelectric materials when shunted to negative capacitance. This paper aims at investigating the effects of negative-capacitance shunt circuits on elastic constants of a piezoelectric ceramic plate through theoretical analyses and experiments, which gives an rational explanation for why negative capacitance shunt circuit is prone to make structure instable. First, the relationships between the elastic constants c_(11), c_(33), c_(55) of the piezoelectric ceramic and the shunt negative capacitance are derived with the piezoelectric constitutive law theoretically. Then, an experimental setup is established to verify the theoretical results through observing the change of elastic constant c_(55) of the shunted piezoelectric plate with the variation of negative capacitance.The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical analyses, which reveals that the instability of the shunt damping system is essentially caused by the singular variation property of the elastic constants of piezoelectric material shunted to negative capacitance. 相似文献

A generalized response (dielectric) function for twisted electrostatic waves is derived for an un‐magnetized self‐gravitating thermal dusty plasma, whose constituents are the Boltzmann‐distributed electrons and positive ions in the presence of negatively charged micrometre‐sized massive dust particulates. For this purpose, a set of Vlasov–Poisson coupled equations is solved along with the perturbed Laguerre–Gauss distribution function, as well as the electrostatic and gravitational potentials in the limit of paraxial approximation. For plane wave solution, the wavefronts of the dust‐acoustic (DA ) wave are assumed to have a constant phase with electric and gravitational field lines propagating straight along the propagation axis. On the other hand, non‐planar wave solutions show helical (twisted) wavefronts, in which field lines spiral around the propagation axis owing to the azimuthal velocity component to account for the finite orbital angular momentum (OAM ) states. The dispersion relation and damping rate for twisted DA waves are studied both analytically and numerically. It is shown that finite OAM states, the dust to electron temperature ratio, and dust self‐gravitation effects significantly affect the linear dispersion and Landau damping frequencies. In particular, the phase speed of twisted DA waves is reduced with the variation of the twist parameter η (= k /lqϕ ), dust concentration δ (= nd 0/ni 0), and dust self‐gravitation α (= ωJd /ωpd ). The relevance of our findings to interstellar dust clouds is also discussed for micrometre‐sized massive dust grains. 相似文献

Determination of the thermal noise limit in test of weak equivalence principle with a rotating torsion pendulum 下载免费PDF全文
Thermal noise is one of the most fundamental limits to the sensitivity in weak equivalence principle test with a rotating torsion pendulum. Velocity damping and internal damping are two of many contributions at the thermal noise, and which one mainly limits the torsion pendulum in low frequency is difficult to be verified by experiment. Based on the conventional method of fast Fourier transform, we propose a developed method to determine the thermal noise limit and then obtain the precise power spectrum density of the pendulum motion signal. The experiment result verifies that the thermal noise is mainly contributed by the internal damping in the fiber in the low frequency torsion pendulum experiment with a high vacuum. Quantitative data analysis shows that the basic noise level in the experiment is about one to two times of the theoretical value of internal damping thermal noise. 相似文献

over the entire critical region, thereby saving at least 90% of the computer time normally needed to locate susceptibility peaks or cumulant intersections and still getting more precise results. A complete picture of the critical properties of polymer mixtures in the thermodynamic limit is then obtained with finite-size scaling functions. Since the amount of information extracted from a simulation in this way is drastically increased as compared to conventional methods, the investigation of mixtures with long chains or built-in asymmetries is now possible. As an example, the critical points, exponents, and amplitudes of dense, symmetric polymer mixtures with chain lengths ranging fromN=16 up toN=256 are determined within the framework of the 3D bond fluctuation model using grand canonical simulation techniques. We study the performances of quantum channel adaptive [4,1] code transmitting in a joint amplitude damping and dephasing channel, the [6,2] code transmitting in an amplitude damping channel by combining the encoding, noise process, and decoding as one effective channel.
