A Mixed Valent Trinuclear Nickel Complex

The reaction of Ni(PPh₃)₂Cl₂ with hexahydro‐1,4‐diaza‐2,3,5,6‐tetraphosphorine in toluene leads to a trinuclear mixed valent nickel complex. Crystal structure analysis confirms three nickel atoms which are connected via two bridging chain‐like PNPPNP ligands. Moreover it indicates some remaining electron density at two central phosphorus atoms. DFT calculations on the electronic structure of the title complex suggest either a slightly delocalized unpaired electron at the relevant metal coordinated phosphorus atom or a PHPh entity.

The formation, structure and electrophilic substitution reactions at phosphorus or nitrogen of N -lithium-1,3-benzazaphospholides is reported.

High Stability of a Phosphenium Ion Allows Umpolung of P--H Bonds

The high intrinsic stability of 1,3,2-diazaphospholenium cations enhances ionic polarization of covalent P--X bonds in P -halogeno- and P -hydrido-diazaphospholenes. The physical properties of the latter suggest a hydridic nature of the P--H bond, and their reactivities display an "Umpolung" as compared to known reaction patterns of phosphines.     

Reactions of S-Silyl Esters of Tetracoordinated Phosphorus Thioacids with Acetals and Ortho Esters

The reactions of S-trimethylsilyl esters of dithiophosphoric, diamidodithiophosphoric, aryldithiophosphonic, aryltrithiophosphonic, and arylamidodithiophosphonic acids with diethyl acetal of benzaldehyde and ortho formiate and acetate were studied. On the basis of these studies, new derivatives of tetracoordinated phosphorus thioacids were obtained.     

Novel 1,2,4-Triphosphole, 1,2,3-Triphosphetene and Azaphospholene Derivatives from N -Heterocyclic Carbenes and Phosphaalkynes

The stable singlet carbenes N,N '-bis(2,2-dimethylpropyl)-benzimidazolin-2-ylidene 1 and 1,3,4,5-tetramethylimidazol-2-ylidene 2 react with phosphaalkynes P L C-- t Bu ( 3a ) or P L C--N i Pr 2 ( 3b ) regioselective to give the aromatic 1,2,4-triphosphole derivatives ( 1 or 2 + 3a M 6a or 6b , respectively) or 1,2,3-triphosphetene ( 1 + 3b M 7 ) or azaphospholene ( 2 + 3b M 9 ) in almost quantitative yields. The mechanisms of the surprising formation of compound 9 under C--H-activation was studied by quantum chemical DFT calculations.     

A Common Conformation of Stabilized Triphenyl Phosphonium Ylidic Diesters with Bulky Alkoxy Groups

The phosphonium ylidic diesters, methyl and ethyl isopropyl and, methyl and ethyl t-butyl triphenylphosphoranylidene malonates, 1a,b and 2a,b , respectively, have the syn-anti conformation in solution, as in the crystal, and the bulkier alkoxy group is oriented towards phosphorus. The ¹ H NMR spectra show that in 1a,b , the isopropyl group is oriented towards the face of a phenyl group, consistent with π shielding in the ¹ H signals, and examination of the ¹ H coupled ¹³ C NMR spectra allows assignment of the acyl carbon signals. Computed bond lengths and angles for isolated molecules are similar to those in the crystal, and the geometry and the NMR spectra indicate extensive ylidic resonance. Estimated partial atomic charges on the ester oxygens are more negative when they are oriented towards, rather than away from, phosphorus.     

Synthesis of Some New Triphenylphosphanylidenes,Alkylphosphonates, and Heterocycles of Pyrazole Derivatives and Their Antimicrobial Activity

Abstract

The reaction of 5(4H)-pyrazolone with phosphorus ylides afforded new triphenylphosphanylidene alkanone derivatives. Moreover, its benzylidene derivative reacted with Wittig–Horner reagents to give the corresponding dialkoxyphosphoryl, alkyl phosphonate, and heterocyclic products. Treatment of pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde with Wittig–Horner reagents and trialkyl phosphites gave the respective alkyl phosphonate adducts. Mechanisms accounting for the formation of the new products are discussed. The biological activity of some of the newly synthesized compounds was also examined.
