ESR study of products of transformation of 3,6-tert-butylpyrocatechol on alumina, zinca, silica, and titania

The formation of semiquinone and phenoxazyl radicals and metallocomplexes with semiquinone ligands was observed by ESR during the interaction of di-tert-butylpyrocatechol with Al₂O₃, ZnO, SiO₂, and TiO₂. In the case of different modifications of SiO₂, admixtures of TiO₂ exhibit a higher reactivity in complex formation with the organic substrate. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. 利用Heck反应, 在离子液体、金属钯或镍、碱和膦配体反应体系中, 由卤代萘与烯丙醇反应, 制得了高收率和高选择性的2-取代萘烯丙醇化合物. 该方法原料便宜易得、操作简单、反应体系可循环使用. 并讨论了醋酸镍替代醋酸钯、不同膦配体、溶剂及碱对反应转化率的影响. 通过核磁共振、红外光谱、质谱和元素分析对产物的结构进行了表征.     

On-line determination of organophosphorus pesticides in water by solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography with thermionic-selective detection

This paper describes the extraction of 49 organophosphorus pesti-cides (OPPs) from water samples using solid-phase microextraction (SPME). Three fibers, including a 15-μm XAD-coated fiber, a 85-μm polyacrylate-coated fiber, and a 30-μm polydimethylsilox-ane-coated fiber (PDMS), were evaluated here. The effects of stirring and the addition of NaCl to the sample were examined for the polyacrylate-coated fiber. The precision of the technique was examined for all three fibers and the extraction kinetics were investigated using the XAD- and polyacrylate-coated fibers. With some exceptions, the XAD- and polyacrylate-coated fibers performed better than the PDMS-coated fiber. The superiority of the XAD-nd polyacrylate-coated fiber. The superiority of the XAD- and polyacrylate-coated fibers over the PDMS-coated fibers can be attribuibuted to the aromatic functionalities of the XAD and the polar functionalities in the polyacrylate. The relatively high percent RSDs indicate that the SPME technique needs to be further refined before it can be used for anything other than screening. A more effective form of agitation than mechanical stirring may be neccessary to reduce variability and achieve a faster equilibrium between the sample and the SPME fiber.

FOURIER TRANSFORM FAR INFRARED SPECTRA AND NORMAL COORDINATE ANALYSIS OF FIFTEEN RARE-EARTH OXALATE HYDRATES

The Fourier transform far infrared spectra of oxalate hydrates of whole rare-earth series except Pm and Sc are investigated in the range of 100-400 cm~(-1). The assignment of vibrational frequencies is made on the basis of normal coordinate analysis using our NORVIB program. The model used for the hghter elements of the lanthanide series (La to Eu) is based on the crystal structure of Nd_2(C_2O_4)_3. 10H_2O, in which each lanthanide ion is surrounded by nine O atoms, six from three oxalate ions and three from Water molecules.The model adopted for the heavier elements of the lanthanide series (Gd to Lu) and Ytterbium is based on the crystal structure of Yb_2(C_2O_4)_3· 6H_2O, in which each ion is surrounded by eight atoms, six from three oxalate ions and two from water molecules. The variation of the metal-ligand frequencies and force constants with the atomic numbers of lanthanides is plotted and discussed.

The action of lithium butyl acetylenide in THF causes 4,4-diethyl-1,2-dithiolane to undergo ring-opening to form 2,2-diethyl-4-thia-5-decyne-1-thiol, which cyclizes to give 2-butyl-6,6-diethyl-5,6-dihydro-1,4-dithiepin by either a homolytic or a nucleophilic mechanism. Extremality and the global Markov property II: The global markov property for non-FKG maximal Gibbs measures

We give a condition on a Gibbs measure for an attractive Markov specification, which assures extremality and the global Markov property. As an example of application we consider the class of attractive Markov specifications defined on a compact configuration space over a two-dimensional lattice by the interaction Hamiltonians (assumed to have a finite set of periodic ground configurations) satisfying Peierl's condition. We prove that each extremal Gibbs measure for such a specification, at sufficiently low temperature, has the global Markov property.On leave of absence from the Institute of Theoretical Physics, University of Wrocaw, Poland.
