Triaxial superdeformation in Lu

High-spin states in ¹⁶³Lu have been investigated using the Euroball spectrometer array. The previously known superdeformed band has been extended at low and high energies, and its connection to the normal-deformed states has been established. From its decay the mixing amplitude and interaction strength between superdeformed and normal states are derived. In addition, a new band with a similar dynamic moment of inertia has been found. The experimental results are compared to cranking calculations which suggest that the superdeformed bands in this mass region correspond to shapes with a pronounced triaxiality (γ≈±20°).     

Two-photon decay in strong central fields observed for the case of He-like gold

The photon energy differential shape of the second order matrix element for the two-photon (2E1) decay of the 1s2s¹S₀ level in He-like gold has been measured. The results are in agreement with a recent fully relativistic calculation. The corresponding 2E1 matrix element deviates from those in lighter He-like systems due to the strong central field in a heavy two-electron ion.     

A generalization of the Stein-Rosenberg theorem to Banach spaces

Summary In the first part of this note we prove a generalization of the Stein-Rosenberg theorem; the context is that of real Banach spaces with a normal reproducing cone and the operators involved are positive and completely continuous. Our generalization of the Stein-Rosenberg theorem improves the modern version of it as stated by F. Robert in [5, §2]. In the second part, we discuss briefly how our results are related to other versions of the Stein-Rosenberg theorem. In the last section we describe a situation to which the results in the first part can be applied.     

Numerical application of Euler's series transformation and its generalizations

Summary A nonlinear generalizationÊ _z of Euler's series transformation is compared with the (linear) Euler-Knopp transformationE _z and a twoparametric methodE . It is shown how to applyE orE _, to compute the valuef(z_o) of a functionf from the power series at 0 iff is holomorphic in a half plane or in the cut plane. BothE andE _, are superior toÊ _z . A compact recursive algorithm is given for computingE andE _,.     

Effective computation of periodic orbits and bifurcation diagrams in delay equations

Summary By employing a numerical method which uses only rather classical tools of Numerical Analysis such as Newton's method and routines for ordinary differential equations, unstable periodic solutions of differential-difference equations can be computed. 利用推转玻尔-莫特森模型指定的能级自旋,研究了A＝190区奇奇核194Tl和196Bi超形变带的顺排角动量的相加性．194Tl的6条超形变带中,有4条满足顺排角动量的相加性规则,而196Bi的超形变带不满足这个规则．     

On the impeded growth of oxide films on Si in N2O ambient

Growth kinetics of thin oxide films on silicon in nitrous oxide were investigated in the very early stage of the process. It was found that the resistance to oxidation reaches an almost stationary value for about 10 s at 1100 °C. The observation is explained by the incorporation of nitrogen atoms at the interface in the film, which impede the further growth.
