Palladium-catalyzed novel addition-elimination reaction of alkenyltin reagents to norbornene

Palladium-catalyzed reaction between 1-alkenyltin trichlorides and norbornene resulted in stereoselective formation of 3-alkylidenepentacyclo[9.2.1.^5,81.^1,110.^2,100^4,9]pentadecane instead of an expected simple alkenylstannylation product. Generation of trichlorostannane and its decomposition product, tin(II) chloride, was confirmed by trapping it with methyl propiolate and norbornene and analysis of the reaction by ¹¹⁹Sn NMR, respectively.     

Thermal behavior of the maleic anhydride modified poly(3-hydroxybutyrate)

Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate), PHB has been structurally modified through reaction with maleic anhydride, MA. Transesterification reaction was carried out fixing the PHB and MA and besides time and temperature the concentration of the triethylamine (used as catalyst) was changed. Glass transition, melting and crystallization temperature obtained from DSC curves and thermal degradation temperatures obtained from TG traces were used to evaluate the influence of the reaction conditions on the modification of PHB according to factorial design. On the base of the results the optimum conditions are to perform the PHB modification reaction with MA reaction at 110°C for 1 h with 5% v/v triethylamine.     

Oxidative Coupling of Thiols to Disulfides with Ti(IV) in the Presence of NaI under Air Atmosphere

Ti(IV) as TiCl₃(O₃SCF₃) and TiO(O₂CCF₃)₂ are used as efficient catalysts for oxidative coupling of aliphatic, aromatic and heteroaromatic thiols to their disulfides in the presence of NaI under air atmosphere.

The prompt γ-ray data of thermal-neutron capture of some stable nuclei for A=1-44 and A>190 have been evaluated. The ENSDF format has been adopted. The checks of intensity balance and format have been made. The examples are given to illustrate its application.     

Diethoxyphosphinyl acetic acid hydrazide: a uniquely versatile reagent for the preparation of fused [5,5]-, [5,6]-, and [5,7]-3-[(E)-2-(arylvinyl)]-1,2,4-triazoles

Diethoxyphosphinyl acetic acid hydrazide is a unique reagent that provides a convenient and efficient process to prepare fused [5,5]-, [5,6]-, and [5,7]-3-[(E)-2-(arylvinyl)]-1,2,4-triazoles from aldehydes and alkoxyimines. The process involves three steps without isolation of any intermediates to afford 1,2,4-triazoles in modest to excellent overall yield.     

Cetyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (CTAOH) as a general, ecofriendly catalyst for the formation of carbon-carbon bond through nitroalkanes

Nitroalkanes have been found to give good yields in Michael and nitroaldol (Henry) reactions by the use of a catalytic amount (10 mol%) of CTAOH, at room temperature and under solvent free conditions and in very short reaction times. The methods do not need a large excess of the nitroalkanes and show good chemoselectivity toward further functionalities.     

Back Reaction in Static Einstein Spaces—Change of Entropy

Using the thermodynamical approach and the method of York, the back-reaction of anti-de Sitter Schwarzschild black hole in thermal equilibrium with conformal spin-2 field is studied. It is found that both approaches give identical results.     

First total synthesis of the E type I phytoprostanes

The first total synthesis of two E type I phytoprostanes from furan, azelaic acid monomethyl ester and rac-1,2-epoxybutane is described. The key features of our synthetic strategy encompass an enzymatic kinetic resolution of a hydroxycyclopentenone, a Co-salen hydrolytic kinetic resolution of a terminal epoxide and a tandem conjugate addition/diastereoselective protonation sequence to construct the protected phytoprostanes. Mild cleavage of the silyl protective groups followed by enzymatic ester hydrolysis afforded the free E-type phytoprostanes.     

A posteriori H1 error estimation for a singularly perturbed reaction diffusion problem on anisotropic meshes

The paper deals with a singularly perturbed reaction diffusionmodel problem. The focus is on reliable a posteriori error estimatorsfor the H¹ seminorm that can be applied to anisotropic finiteelement meshes. A residual error estimator and a local problemerror estimator are proposed and rigorously analysed. They arelocally equivalent, and both bound the error reliably. Threemodifications of these estimators are introduced and discussed. Much attention is given to the performance of the error estimatorin numerical experiments. This helps to identify those estimatorsthat are suitable for practical applications.     

Assignment of chemical shifts in benzohydroxamic acid and structure of its silylated derivatives by 15N enrichment

¹⁵N isotopic enrichment was necessary for the unequivocal assignment of the ¹H NMR lines to the protons in the NH–OH fragment of benzohydroxamic acid, BHXA, C₆H₅CONHOH, in dry dimethyl sulfoxide solutions. The assignment [δ(NH) = 11.21, δ(OH) = 9.01, ¹J(¹⁵N,¹H) = 102.2 Hz, ²J(¹⁵N,¹H) <1.5 Hz], which is opposite to that used by other authors, confirms the assignment extended to BHXA by Brown and co‐workers from the spectra of acetohydroxamic acid. The enrichment allowed also assignment of the ²⁹Si lines in the spectra of disilylated benzohydroxamic acid, (Z)‐tert‐butyldimethylsilyl N‐tert‐butyldimethylsilyloxybenzoimidate (2) and (Z)‐tert‐butyldiphenylsilyl N‐tert‐butyldiphenylsilyloxybenzoimidate (3), and confirmed structure of the monosilylated products, N‐tert‐butyldiphenylsilyloxybenzamide (4) and N‐tert‐butyldiphenylsilyloxy benzoimidic acid (5).
