Microstructure of laser melted Al18B4O33w/2024Al composite

The microstructure of a laser treated Al₁₈B₄O₃₃w/2024Al composite has been investigated using transmission electron microscope (TEM), low-angle (glancing angle) X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Various surface microstructures were observed in the laser treated composite. The Al₁₈B₄O₃₃ whisker on the surface of the composite was decomposed during laser surface melting, various decomposition products were studied in the laser treated composite. Eutectic phases and the precipitation in the matrix of the composite with laser-treated were observed. The main phases detected in the molten zone were aluminum and decomposition products Al₂O₃. The effect of laser treatment on the hardness of the composite was also examined. A surface hardness of 400 Hv was noted.     

Coalgebraic representations of distributive lattices with operators

We present a framework for extending Stone's representation theorem for distributive lattices to representation theorems for distributive lattices with operators. We proceed by introducing the definition of algebraic theory of operators over distributive lattices. Each such theory induces a functor on the category of distributive lattices such that its algebras are exactly the distributive lattices with operators in the original theory. We characterize the topological counterpart of these algebras in terms of suitable coalgebras on spectral spaces. We work out some of these coalgebraic representations, including a new representation theorem for distributive lattices with monotone operators.     

A microspectroscopic study of the electronic homogeneity of ordered and disordered Sr2FeMoO6

Disordered Sr₂FeMoO₆ shows a drastic reduction in saturation magnetization compared to highly ordered samples, moreover magnetization as a function of the temperature for different disordered samples shows qualitatively different behaviours. We investigate the origin of such diversity by performing spatially resolved photoemission spectroscopy on various disordered samples. Our results establish that e_xtensive electronic inhomogeneity, arising most probably from an underlying chemical inhomogeneity in disordered samples, is responsible for the observed magnetic inhomogeneity. It is further pointed out that these inhomogeneities are connected with composition fluctuations of the type Sr₂Fe_1+x Mo_1-x O₆ with Fe-rich (x > 0) and Mo-rich (x < 0) regions. Existence of positive solutions for nonlinear three-point problems on time scales

In this paper, by using fixed point theorems in cones, we study the existence of at least one, two and three positive solutions of a nonlinear second-order three-point boundary value problem for dynamic equations on time scales. As an application, we also give some examples to demonstrate our results.     

The category of varieties and interpretations is alg-universal

A category is said to be alg-universal if every category of universal algebras can be fully embedded into it. We prove here that the category of varieties and interpretations, or in other words, the category of abstract clones and clone homomorphisms, is alg-universal.     

On universal central extensions of precrossed and crossed modules

We study the connection between universal central extensions in the categories of precrossed and crossed modules. They are compared with several kinds of universal central extensions in the categories of groups, epimorphisms of groups, groups with operators and modules over a group. We study the relationship between the homologies defined in these categories. Applications to relative algebraic K-theory are also obtained.
