This work aims to assess the adsorption efficiency of date stones biowaste subjected to carbonization and activation processes for the removal of Pb ions from single and mixed solutions. Several techniques have been used for characterization of adsorbents such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), methylene blue index and point of zero charge (pHpzc). An excellent adsorption capacity of 97.43% is achieved at an initial concentration of 300 ?mg/L, solution volume 75 ?mL of Pb nitrate, adsorbent mass of 0.7 ?g, temperature of 30 ?°C, a stirring speed of 500 ?rpm/min, a contact time of 180 ?min and pH 6. Specifically, a comparison has been conducted between carbonized/activated date stones “CADS” and commercial activated carbon “CAC” besides investigating the influence of the presence of Co ions and the utilization of ultrasound radiation. A higher adsorption rate of 98.16% is reached under ultrasound radiation at Pb(II) initial concentration of 100 ?mg/L for a contact time of 3 ?h. Nevertheless, the temperature has shown a negative effect; the adsorption rate decreases from 98.31% at 18 ?°C to 92.70% at 60 ?°C. The modeling of the experimental adsorption data manifests a type-L isotherm characteristic of Langmuir and Freundlich models. The kinetic study has shown that the experimental data are well described by a pseudo-second-order rate model and controlled by the internal diffusion, a limiting-step that controls the transfer rate of Pb(II) to the adsorbent surface. The calculated thermodynamic parameters (ΔG0, ΔH0, ΔS0) indicate that the adsorption of Pb(II) is spontaneous and exothermic process. 相似文献

Activated carbon was prepared from olive stones by physical activation using water vapor at 750 °C. Textural, morphology and surface chemistry characterizations were achieved (nitrogen adsorption, SEM, FTIR and TPD–MS). NO2 adsorption was performed for different inlet gas compositions and temperatures. NO2 may adsorb directly on the oxygenated surface groups, and can also be reduced to NO. Therefore, a second NO2 molecule adsorbs on the oxygen left on the carbon surface. TPD performed after NO2 adsorption showed the presence of various surface groups. The adsorption capacity was about 131 mg/g, which is higher than with several activated carbon prepared from classical lignocellulosic biomass. NO2 reduction into NO decreased with increasing the inlet oxygen concentration. In contrast, a slight decrease in the NO2 adsorption capacity was observed with increasing temperature. It seems that the activated carbons prepared from olive stones by steam activation could be used as efficient adsorbents for NO2 removal. 相似文献

Activated carbons are produced from wastes of Algerian date stones by pyrolysis and physical activation in the presence of water vapor into a heated fixed-bed reactor. The effect of pyrolysis temperature and activation hold time on textural and chemical surface properties of raw date stones and carbon materials produced are studied. As expected, the percentage yield decreases with increase of activation temperature and hold time. The characterization of carbon materials is performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nitrogen adsorption (BET). Results show the presence of cellulose and hemicellulose in the raw material, and the predominance of carbon and graphite after pyrolysis. Different oxygen-containing functional groups are found in the raw material while aromatic structures are developed after pyrolysis and activation. The best specific surface area (635 m2 g−1) and microporous volume (0.716 cm3 g−1) are obtained when the date stones are grinded, pyrolysed at 700 °C under a 100 cm3 min−1 nitrogen flow and then activated under water vapor at 700 °C for 6 h. 相似文献

采用人类肾脏近端小管上皮细胞系(HKC)建立氧化性损伤模型,研究损伤前后HKC调控草酸钙(CaOxa)结晶的差异。采用CCK-8法检测HKC的细胞活性;利用激光共聚焦显微镜观察HKC损伤后表达的晶体粘附分子骨桥蛋白(OPN);采用倒置显微镜观察HKC的形态变化;采用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)观察HKC微结构及其诱导的晶体;采用X射线衍射分析(XRD)表征晶体的组分。在CaOxa过饱和溶液中,正常HKC主要诱导形成二水草酸钙(COD)晶体,而损伤HKC则同时诱导了COD和一水草酸钙(COM)晶体。正常HKC对COD晶体有较强的吞噬能力,而损伤HKC的这种能力较弱;HKC损伤后表达OPN,促进CaOxa晶体的成核和聚集,从而增加了肾结石形成的危险性。 相似文献

Recently a new idea for the disintegration of urinary calculi based upon the large difference of the acoustic impedance inside urinary calculi was suggested. This large difference of acoustical impedance between the two main components of kidney stones, is confirmed in this paper for smooth laminated uric acid stones by two different experimental techniques measuring sound velocities: a surface contact and a submersion technique. Our measured values correlate well with the large differences of the earlier reported measured sound velocities. In general, the disintegration of a urinary stone can be described as follows: a urinary calculus is an inhomogeneous geometrical structure, and its structure plays an important role in the disintegration process. 相似文献

In this work, Cr(III) adsorption on activated carbon obtained from olive stones in an upflow fixed-bed column at 30∘C was studied. The flow rate influence on the breakthrough curves at a feed concentration of 0.87 meq/L was investigated in
an attempt to minimize the diffusional resistances. Breakthrough curves for a flow range of 2–8 mL/min were obtained at 10.5
cm bed height and inlet diameter of 0.9 cm. The mass transfer parameters indicated that the bed minimal resistance was attained
at 2 mL/min. Therefore, the data equilibrium was carried out until the bed was saturated at 2 mL/min. The dynamic system generated
a favorable isotherm with a maximum chromium uptake of 0.45 meq/g. A column sorption mathematical model was created considering
the axial dispersion in the column and the intraparticle diffusion rate-controlling steps. The isotherm was successfully modeled
by the Langmuir equation and the mathematical model described the experimental dynamic data adequately for feed concentrations

Kidney stone is the most painful and prevalent urological disorder of the urinary system throughout the world. Thus, analysis of kidney stones is an integral part in the evaluation of patents having stone disease. Spectroscopic investigations of stones provide an idea about the pathogenesis of stones for its better cure and treatment. Hence, the present work targets multispectroscopic investigations on kidney stones using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and wave dispersive X‐ray fluorescence (WD‐XRF) spectroscopy which are the most useful analytical methods for the purpose of bio‐medical diagnostics. In the present study, FTIR spectral method is used to investigate the chemical composition and classification of kidney stones. The multicomponents of kidney stones such as calcium oxalate, hydroxyl apatite, phosphates, carbonates, and struvite were investigated and studied. Qualitative and quantitative determination of major and trace elements present in the kidney stones was performed employing WD‐XRF spectroscopy. The wide range of elements determined in the kidney stones were calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), phosphorous (P), sodium (Na), potassium (K), chlorine (Cl), sulfur (S), silicon (Si), iodine (I), titanium (Ti), iron (Fe), ruthenium (Ru), zinc (Zn), aluminum (Al), strontium (Sr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), and bromine (Br). For the first time, ruthenium was detected in kidney stone samples employing WD‐XRF in very low concentration. Our results revealed that the presence and relative concentrations of trace elements in different kinds of stones are different and depend on the stone types. From the experiments carried out on kidney stones for trace elemental detection, it was found that WD‐XRF is a robust analytical tool that can be useful for the diagnosis of urological disorders. We have also compared our findings with the results reported using XRF technique.
