We reported about octahedrally coordinated Fe2+‐complexes, which are able to switch between two stable spin states (LS and HS) with different magnetic properties. This phenomenon is called spin crossover (SCO). The interaction between metal ion and ligand determines the actual spin state and whether an extern stimulus can trigger a spin crossover. Due to this fact it is possible for the chemist through the choice of the ligands to manipulate the character and the temperature region of the SCO. Some metal complexes assemble into highly ordered structures on graphite by molecular self assembly. The substitution of the metal complexes with alkyl chains and the interaction of these chains with the highly ordered graphite is crucial for a periodic arrangement of the complexes on the surface. For the future we are curious to see whether through the cooperative effort of coordination chemistry (SCO phenomenon) and surface science (self assembly of SCO complexes on a surface) the vision of a molecular memory will turn into a reality.  相似文献

Assembly of the triangular, organic radical‐bridged complexes Cp*6Ln33‐HAN) (Cp*=pentamethylcyclopentadienyl; Ln=Gd, Tb, Dy; HAN=hexaazatrinaphthylene) proceeds through the reaction of Cp*2Ln(BPh4) with HAN under strongly reducing conditions. Significantly, magnetic susceptibility measurements of these complexes support effective magnetic coupling of all three LnIII centers through the HAN3−. radical ligand. Thorough investigation of the DyIII congener through both ac susceptibility and dc magnetic relaxation measurements reveals slow relaxation of the magnetization, with an effective thermal relaxation barrier of Ueff=51 cm−1. Magnetic coupling in the DyIII complex enables a large remnant magnetization at temperatures up to 3.0 K in the magnetic hysteresis measurements and hysteresis loops that are open at zero‐field up to 3.5 K.  相似文献

The reduction of UVI uranyl halides or amides with simple LnII or UIII salts forms highly symmetric, linear, oxo‐bridged trinuclear UV/LnIII/UV, LnIII/UIV/LnIII, and UIV/UIV/UIV complexes or linear LnIII/UV polymers depending on the stoichiometry and solvent. The reactions can be tuned to give the products of one‐ or two‐electron uranyl reduction. The reactivity and magnetism of these compounds are discussed in the context of using a series of strongly oxo‐coupled homo‐ and heterometallic poly(f‐block) chains to better understand fundamental electronic structure in the f‐block.  相似文献
