Using capillary electrophoresis (CE) three chiral primary amine compounds 1-aminoindan (AI), 1-(1-naphthyl)ethylamine (NEA) and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-naphthylamine (THAN), exhibited only partial or no separation when β-cyclodextrin (βCD) was used as chiral selector. The use of 18-crown-6 (18C6) as a second additive with βCD resulted in an enhanced separation. A molecular modeling study, using molecular mechanics and the semiempirical PM6 calculations, was used to help explaining the mechanism of the enantiodifferentiation and to predict the separation process. Optimization of the structures of the complexes by the PM6 method indicate that the poor separation obtained in the presence of the βCD chiral selector alone is due to the small binding energy differences (ΔΔE) of 4.7, 1.1 and 1.2 kcal mol(-1) for AI, NEA and THAN, respectively. In the presence of 18C6 it was suggested that a sandwich compound between 18C6, amine and βCD is formed. Theoretical calculations show that a significant increase in the binding energy is obtained for the sandwich compounds indicating strong hydrophobic and van der Waals interactions that show enhanced enantiodifferentiation.  相似文献

True moving bed electrophoresis has been shown to be an effective technique for the bench-scale separation of enantiomers, and it is desired to increase the maximum possible throughput attainable with the process by using electric field gradients. Homatropine enantiomer separations were performed and results using a stepped electric field gradient were compared to those using a traditional non-gradient separation. In order to accomplish this, a newly designed stator was constructed for use with the Vortex-Stabilized Electrophoresis Apparatus that has three sets of electrode housings, one set at both ends and one in the middle of the chamber. There were several problems related to the membranes used at the middle electrode. The dialysis membranes were permeable to the homatropine enantiomers, and while a switch to anion exchange membranes prevented the permeation of the homatropine, this caused a pH shift that interrupted binding to the hydroxypropyl-ss-cyclodextrin chiral selector. These problems prevented any meaningful data from being collected using homatropine enantiomers, and due to this, a proof of concept study was conducted using two bovine proteins. The separations using fluorescein-labeled BSA and bovine hemoglobin showed that a 63% increase in the maximum processing rate was attainable. The maximum throughput using the non-gradient process was 30.6 mg/h and the maximum was 50.0 mg/h using an electric field gradient that was 10% lower than the non-gradient field in section II and 10% higher in section III.  相似文献

Standard molecular dynamics simulations have been carried out on pure alcohols and alcohol/water mixtures. A simple atom-atom force field consisting of Lennard-Jones potentials plus coulombic terms over atomic point charges, but without explicit polarization terms, has been specifically fitted to reproduce several experimental properties of the pure alcohols, and has been used for mixtures by developing combination rules with the TIP3P water model. Densities, enthalpies of vaporization, radial distribution functions, self-diffusion coefficients, and rotational correlation functions of the pure alcohols are well reproduced and compare favorably with those from more sophisticated force fields. Some key aspects of the phase behaviour are correctly reproduced by the molecular dynamics simulation, showing a distinct demixing process for the n-butanol/water mixture as opposed to the stability of the t-butanol/water mixtures. The results demonstrate the ability of a molecular dynamics simulation, even in its standard form and with easily accessible time ranges, but with a carefully optimized force field, to simulate and, to a certain extent, predict the properties of binary mixtures.  相似文献

Mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) were prepared by combinations of two different kinds of porous fillers [metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) HKUST-1 and ZIF-8, and zeolite silicalite-1] and polysulfone. In the search for filler synergy, the MMMs were applied to the separation of CO(2)/N(2), CO(2)/CH(4), O(2)/N(2), and H(2)/CH(4) mixtures and we found important selectivity improvements with the HKUST-1-silicalite-1 system (CO(2)/CH(4) and CO(2)/N(2) separation factors of 22.4 and 38.0 with CO(2) permeabilities of 8.9 and 8.4 Barrer, respectively).  相似文献

A simplified procedure based on ion-exchange separation of selenourea (Se-U) and selenocystamine (Se-CM), which have very close half-wave potential when they are simultaneously analyzed by voltammetric techniques, has been developed and optimized. Thus, selenocystamine remains in the cation exchanger Purolite C 100 H, whereas selenourea is found in the effluent and is determined by square wave cathodic stripping voltammetry using Na2CO3 as electrolyte. Selenocystamine is then eluted from the cation exchanger using 4 M HCl and analyzed by square wave cathodic stripping voltammetry in the HCl solution. For each voltammetric determination the corresponding parameters were investigated and optimized; the obtained detection limits were 0.3 ng Se mL–1 for Se-CM and 2 ng Se mL–1 for Se-U. A flow sheet for the separation of inorganic (Se(IV) and Se(VI)) and organoselenium compounds (Se-U, Se-CM, (CH3)2Se2, and (CH3)2Se) developed for their electrochemical detection is presented and it was successfully applied to a certified reference material, an environmental soil sample, and a urine sample.  相似文献

Two molecular imprinting polymer (MIP) monolithic columns with (S)-(-)-1,1'-bi-2-naphthol and (R)-(+)-5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octahydro-1,1'-bi-2-naphthol as the templating molecules, respectively, have been prepared by in situ polymerization using 4-vinylpyridine and ethylene dimethacrylate as functional monomer and cross-linker, respectively. The columns with good flow-through properties were obtained by changing the molar ratio of the functional monomer and the template molecule. The effects of mobile-phase composition on separation of enantiomers were systematically investigated. The results indicate that hydrophobic interaction in aqueous solution and hydrogen-bonding interaction in ACN between the enantiomers and polymers could play important roles in the retention and resolution. The effects of chromatographic conditions, such as flow rate, column temperature, sample loading, on the enantioseparation were also studied. Further, these two MIP columns show a cross-reactivity.  相似文献

Summary The elution behavior of alkali and earth alkaline cations has been studied on a newly synthesized weak cationexchanger (WCX). Applying this stationary phase isocratic separation of these cations is possible. The dependence of retention on competing ion concentration is described via a simple model. The influence of crown ethers as well as organic eluent additives on selectivity and peak efficiency is demonstrated. With optimized separation such cations can be determined with detection limits of about 0.5 ppm using a conductivity detector without ion suppression.  相似文献

Proposed in this paper is an improved method for removal of tin as the matrix element by volatilization in an anhydrous medium as mixed halides of different composition. Any one of them boils at a lower temperature than SnBr4. This ternary system enhances the eventual recombination of temporarily dissociated species to volatile ones, thus making the process quicker and more efficient. The presence of 2 mg of Pb(II) suffices to prevent Bi(III) from loss due to volatilization.  相似文献

Liquid–liquid equillibria (LLE) of the tertiary system of hydroxypropylated polyrotaxane (HPPR)–poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)–solvent have been investigated by focusing on the internal structures of HPPR–PVA blend gels. The phase diagrams of the HPPR–PVA aqueous systems displayed two liquid phases at a high concentration and molecular weight of PVA. This result was consistent with the prediction of the Flory–Huggins lattice model. On the contrary, the HPPR–PVA–DMSO system exhibited only a single phase. The HPPR–PVA blend gels crosslinked in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) were highly transparent over a wide concentration range, while the gels prepared in water were opaque at high polymer concentrations. Spherical domains were observed in the opaque gels by laser scanning confocal microscopy, and the sizes of the domains were significantly dependent on the amount of cross-linking reagent utilized. These results indicated that the transparency of the HPPR–PVA blend gels was strongly affected by the competition between the liquid–liquid two-phase separation and the crosslinking HPPR and PVA polymers during the preparation of the blend gels.  相似文献
