Synthesis, structure, and electrochemical properties of 12,42-dioxo-21,31-diphenyl-7,10,13-trioxa-1,4(3,1)-diquinoxalina-2(2,3),3(3,2)-diindolizinacyclopentadecaphane

The oxidative dehydrocyclization of the 3-(indolizin-2′-yl)-2-oxoquinoxaline monopodand performed either electrochemically or under the action of molecular iodine affords new redox-active heterocyclophane consisting of the redox-switchable biindolizine fragment combined with the polyether-bridged π-deficient quinoxaline systems. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction study showed that the trioxaundecane chain of heterocyclophane adopts an extended conformation, and one of the phenyl substituents of the molecule closes the pseudocavity formed by the spacer from one of the sides. The cyclic voltammetric study of heterocyclophane in MeCN and DMF showed the three-step oxidation of the indolizine fragments accompanied by the single-electron transfer in each step. The first and third steps are reversible, and the second step is irreversible. The oxidation at potentials of the first peak gives rise to stable radical cations detected by the ESR method (g = 2.0024, a _2N = 0.26 mT). Dedicated to Professor E. A. Redox thermochemistry of SrFe1-xCoxO3-d

The enthalpy of oxidation of SrFe_1-xCo_xO_3-d with x=0.33 and 0.67 has been determined by adiabatic calorimetry; average values for x=0.33 and 0.67 are -67±11 and -49.5±9 kJ (mol O₂)^-1. These data and the previously reported value for SrFeO_3-d suggest that the enthalpy of oxidation for pure (perovskite-type) SrCoO_3-d is close to zero. Earlier reported composition - partial pressure data for SrFe_0.67Co_0.33O_3-d are reproduced when preferential oxidation of iron is assumed for low partial pressures of oxygen. Chemical environment of copper at the surface of a CuAl2 model alloy: XPS,MEIS and TEM analyses

Air‐formed oxide on a CuAl₂ model alloy is shown to be free of copper species, with copper enriching in the alloy. With thickening of the oxide by anodizing, copper enriches further to a critical concentration at which its oxidation proceeds with incorporation of Cu(II) species into the film. Such species migrate more rapidly through the film than aluminium species. Incorporation of copper species is associated with generation of oxygen gas within the film and subsequent film rupture is due to release of the gas. Reduction of Cu(II) to Cu(I) species during XPS analysis is characterized and the accelerating role of charge neutralizing is highlighted. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

TiO_2-CeO_2催化剂湿式氧化苯酚的活性研究

采用共沉淀法制备了湿式氧化降解苯酚的TiO2-CeO2催化剂,测定了反应过程中不同反应时间的COD去除率,结果表明,当Ti、Ce摩尔比为3∶1时,在150℃、总压5MPa(其中氧分压4.5MPa)时,所制备的催化剂活性最高,反应90分钟COD去除率可以达到71%.对催化剂进行了比表面积、XRD和XPS测试,结果表明,高效的催化剂具有较多的活性位、催化剂粉末体系Ce的变价特性以及大量的表面吸附氧.     

Redox properties of hydrogenated quinoline derivatives — inhibitors in oxidation processes of hydrocarbons

Half-wave potentials of the one-electron electrochemical oxidation (E _1/2 ^ox) of hydroquinolines with different degrees of heterocycle hydrogenization as well as containing substituents of various natures in the benzene ring and heterocycle have been measured. Linear correlations betweenE _1/2 ^ox and the values of the Hammett polar -constants form- andp-substituents in dihydroquinolines and related sulfur-containing dithiolthiones were established. The character of the variation ofE _1/2 ^ox in the series of hydroquinolines was found to correlate with the characteristic features of the inhibiting action of these compounds in the liquid-phase oxidation of various hydrocarbons. However, in contrast to phenolic antioxidants for hydroquinolines, there is no dependence of the retardation period onE _1/2 ^oxin the oxidation of hydrocarbons at temperatures higher than 100 °C.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Soot deep oxidation catalyzed by molybdena and molybdates: a thermogravimetric investigation

Molybdena (MoO₃) and molybdates of bismuth (Bi₂Mo₃O₁₂), chromium (Cr₂Mo₃O₁₂), barium (BaMoO₄), manganese (MnMoO₄) and copper (Cu₃Mo₂O₉) were synthesized and characterized by X-ray powder diffractometry and infrared spectroscopy. They were then assessed as ‘loose contact' catalysts for soot deep oxidation (combustion) in air by thermogravimetry. A similar assessment was carried out on commercial chromia (Cr₂O₃) and tungsta (WO₃). Observed high oxidation activity of MoO₃, as compared to both Cr₂O₃ and WO₃, is attributed to the higher volatility (mobility) of MoO_x species. On similar grounds, observed high activity of MoO₃ and Cu₃Mo₂O₉, as compared to the other test molybdates, is explained. Relatively speaking, however, a higher activity was observed for Cu₃Mo₂O₉ than MoO₃, whereby soot ignition temperature decreased from 571°C (uncatalyzed oxidation) to 430°C, to occur within the temperature range of diesel exhaust (200–450°C). This observation is ascribed to copper-promoted redox conduct of Mo(VI) in the oxidation reaction of soot. Kinetics of the reaction was studied non-isothermally, and the kinetic parameters (A, k, ΔE and the reaction order) were calculated.     

Theoretical Study on the Dark Oxidation Reaction Mechanism of Ethers

1 INTRODUCTION Ethers are a kind of organic compounds that are easily oxidized under the conditions of lacking light and any additional excitement. According to dif- ferent mechanisms, the oxidation reactions could be classified into two types: photooxidation reaction and dark oxidation reaction. The former is the reaction with excited state oxygen molecule (singlet state), while the latter is the reaction with ground state oxygen molecule (triple state) without illuminance or any exciter…     

Recent Progress in Direct Partial Oxidation of Methane to Methanol

The direct conversion of methane to methanol has attracted a great deal of attention for nearly a century since it was first found possible in 1902, and it is still a challenging task. This review article describes recent advancements in the direct partial oxidation of methane to methanol. The history of direct oxidation of methane and the difficulties encountered in the partial oxidation of methane to methanol are briefly summarized. Recently reported developments in gas-phase homogeneous oxidation, heterogeneous catalytic oxidation and liquid phase homogeneous catalytic oxidation of methane axe reviewed.     

Total synthesis of the marine alkaloid halitulin

The structure of the strongly cytotoxic marine alkaloid halitulin (1) has been confirmed by total synthesis and its absolute configuration determined as (15S). The synthesis follows a strategy previously reported by one of us and uses an efficient preparation of the quinoline-7,8-diol unit by modified Baeyer-Villiger and Skraup reactions. The O-benzyl protecting groups were removed in the last step of the synthesis by transfer hydrogenolysis without concomitant reduction of the quinoline ring. The method can be applied for the synthesis of halitulin analogues.
