In univariate Padé approximation we learn from the Froissart phenomenon that Padé approximants to perturbed Taylor series exhibit almost cancelling pole–zero combinations that are unwanted. The location of these pole–zero doublets was recently characterized for rational functions by the so‐called Froissart polynomial. In this paper the occurrence of the Froissart phenomenon is explored for the first time in a multivariate setting. Several obvious questions arise. Which definition of Padé approximant is to be used? Which multivariate rational functions should be investigated? When considering univariate projections of these functions, our analysis confirms the univariate results obtained so far in [13], under the condition that the noise is added after projection. At the same time, it is apparent from section 4 that for the unprojected multivariate Froissart polynomial no conjecture can be formulated yet.

It is well known that Gabor expansions generated by a lattice of Nyquist density are numerically unstable, in the sense that they do not constitute frame decompositions. In this paper, we clarify exactly how bad such Gabor expansions are, we make it clear precisely where the edge is between enough and too little, and we find a remedy for their shortcomings in terms of a certain summability method. This is done through an investigation of somewhat more general sequences of points in the time-frequency plane than lattices (all of Nyquist density), which in a sense yields information about the uncertainty principle on a finer scale than allowed by traditional density considerations. An important role is played by certain Hilbert scales of function spaces, most notably by what we call the Schwartz scale and the Bargmann scale, and the intrinsically interesting fact that the Bargmann transform provides a bounded invertible mapping between these two scales. This permits us to turn the problems into interpolation problems in spaces of entire functions, which we are able to treat.  相似文献

For single homogeneous lossy dielectric Rayleigh particles, the manner in which the particle shape affects the absorption and scattering is examined by computing the polarizability tensor elements using a general purpose program valid for any rotationally symmetric body. The results for a number of generic shapes are compared with those for the corresponding spheroids. When the dielectric constant is real and negative, the resonances attributable to bulk and to shape-dependent or surface polariton modes are tracked as functions of the length-to-width ratio of the particle and the bulk dielectric constant. The adequacy of using spheroid approximations for individual particles in a dispersion is also discussed.  相似文献

Then, we shall see that the polynomial of best approximation of x → 1/(1 ? xt) over some interval or its development in Chebyshev polynomials Tn or Un are only particular cases of the main theorem.At last, we shall show that all these processes accelerate linear combinations with positive coefficients of totally monotonic and oscillating sequences.  相似文献

Solutions are obtained for the stress state problem for an elastic space with an internal toroidalshaped cavity that can be expanded in a trigonometric series in the angle in cylindrical coordinates. Displacements and stresses are specified on the boundary. An analytic solution of the problem is found using generalized analytic functions. It is shown that the m th-order derivative of the n th-order Bernstein polynomial of a function f satisfying a certain Lipschitz condition, can be written for n\rightarrow +∈fty as a singular integral of Gauss—Weierstrass type, m times differentiated (in a certain sense) under the integral sign.
