Integrated optoelectronic circuit forecast

A market research study was conducted, leading to a 10-year forecast of worldwide integrated optoelectronic circuit (IOEC) market and application trends. Four IOEC categories were considered: lightwave, imaging array, digital IC interface optical bus, and other devices. It was concluded that worldwide IOEC production will reach $1.71 billion by 1997. It was also concluded that lightwave IOECs will be the leading device category, with commercial communication the leading application.     

Simultaneous Measurement of Refractive Index and Temperature Using a Hybrid Fiber Bragg Grating/Long-Period Fiber Grating Configuration

Abstract

A fiber optic sensing system for simultaneous measurement of refractive index and temperature, based on a hybrid fiber Bragg grating/long-period grating arrangement is described. The experimental results show that this setup has a good performance in terms of linearity and sensitivity, the ratiometric output changes 4%/0.001 RIU and 3.6%/°C, respectively. The sensor resolution for the refractive index is ≈2 × 10^?5 RIU. The simultaneous measurement of the refractive index and temperature was demonstrated. The sensing configuration has the ability to be read-out in reflection and works in the telecommunications window.     

Subgroups of index 4 of the 2-dimensional space groups

There are 281 subgroups of index 4 for the 17 types of 2-dimension space groups: p1:7, p2:31, pm:19, pg:7, cm:11, p2mm:67, p2mg:23, p2gg:11, c2mm:31, p4:11, p4mm:31, p4gm:11, p3:4, p3m1:4, p31m:4, p6:4, p6mm:5. Every subgroup has been identified by its conventional cell disposition with respect to the conventional cell of the starting group. These subgroups may be arranged in 96 automorphism classes and 184 conjugation classes according to their starting groups.     

一种双段多层长周期光纤光栅光谱特性研究

长周期光纤光栅(LPFG)传感器具有非常广泛的应用价值,而有效解决物理量交叉敏感问题是其实用化的关键。基于LPFG对包层外介质折射率和厚度的敏感性,提出一种双段多层折射率横向分布结构的新型LPFG传感器的设计,并利用耦合模理论和传输矩阵方法分析了镀膜材料折射率、膜层厚度和镀层长度对新型LPFG传感器光谱特性的影响。软件仿真结果证明,这种LPFG由于结构设计上的特殊性,将使LPFG的谐振峰发生分裂,即一个透射峰分裂为两个。由于两个分裂峰对应力和温度的灵敏度不同,利用该结构的LPFG作为传感器,可以实现温度、应力等物理量的同步测量,从而解决LPFG传感器的交叉敏感问题。     

Efficiency and multifractality analysis of CSI 300 based on multifractal detrending moving average algorithm

We apply the multifractal detrending moving average (MFDMA) to investigate and compare the efficiency and multifractality of 5-min high-frequency China Securities Index 300 (CSI 300). The results show that the CSI 300 market becomes closer to weak-form efficiency after the introduction of CSI 300 future. We find that the CSI 300 is featured by multifractality and there are less complexity and risk after the CSI 300 index future was introduced. With the shuffling, surrogating and removing extreme values procedures, we unveil that extreme events and fat-distribution are the main origin of multifractality. Besides, we discuss the knotting phenomena in multifractality, and find that the scaling range and the irregular fluctuations for large scales in the _Fq(s)$F_q\left(s\right)$ vs s$s$ plot can cause a knot.

The main purpose of this note is to continue the study of the positive definite, doubly stochastic graph matrix (I_n + L(G))?¹= ω(G) = (w_ij). If, for example, w(G) = min w_ij, then w(G)≥0 with equality if and only if G is disconnected and w(G) ≤ l/(n + 1) with equality if and only if G = K_n. If i¦j, then w_ii ≥2wij, with equality if and only if the ith vertex has degree n - 1. In a sense made precise in the note, max w,, identifies most remote vertices of G. Relations between these new graph invariants and the algebraic connectivity emerge naturally from the fact that the second largest eigenvalue of ω(G) is 1/(1 + a(G)).     

Convergent Power Series for Fields in Positive or Negative High-Contrast Periodic Media

We obtain convergent power series representations for Bloch waves in periodic high-contrast media. The material coefficient in the inclusions can be positive or negative. The small expansion parameter is the ratio of period cell width to wavelength, and the coefficient functions are solutions of the cell problems arising from formal asymptotic expansion. In the case of positive coefficient, the dispersion relation has an infinite sequence of branches, each represented by a convergent even power series whose leading term is a branch of the dispersion relation for the homogenized medium. In the negative case, there is a single branch.
