Some new statistics are proposed to test the uniformity of random samples in the multidimensional unit cube These statistics are derived from number-theoretic or quasi-Monte Carlo methods for measuring the discrepancy of points in . Under the null hypothesis that the samples are independent and identically distributed with a uniform distribution in , we obtain some asymptotic properties of the new statistics. By Monte Carlo simulation, it is found that the finite-sample distributions of the new statistics are well approximated by the standard normal distribution, , or the chi-squared distribution, . A power study is performed, and possible applications of the new statistics to testing general multivariate goodness-of-fit problems are discussed.

In this paper, we propose a three-parameter family of conjugate gradient methods for unconstrained optimization. The three-parameter family of methods not only includes the already existing six practical nonlinear conjugate gradient methods, but subsumes some other families of nonlinear conjugate gradient methods as its subfamilies. With Powell's restart criterion, the three-parameter family of methods with the strong Wolfe line search is shown to ensure the descent property of each search direction. Some general convergence results are also established for the three-parameter family of methods. This paper can also be regarded as a brief review on nonlinear conjugate gradient methods.

This paper is devoted to the multiscale analysis of a homogenization inverse problem of the heat exchange law identification, which is governed by parabolic equations with nonlinear transmission conditions in a periodic heterogeneous medium. The aim of this work is to transform this inverse problem with nonlinear transmission conditions into a new one governed by a less complex nonlinear parabolic equation, while preserving the same form and physical properties of the heat exchange law that it will be identified, based on periodic homogenization theory. For this, we reformulate first the encountered homogenization inverse problem to an optimal control one. Then, we study the well-posedness of the state problem using the Leray–Schauder topological degrees and we also check the existence of the solution for the obtained optimal control problem. Finally, using the periodic homogenization theory and priori estimates, with justified choise of test functions, we reduce our inverse problem to a less complex one in a homogeneous medium.  相似文献

In the present paper, we study a class of linear approximation methods for solving semi-linear delay-reaction–diffusion equations with algebraic constraint (SDEACs). By combining a fourth-order compact difference scheme with block boundary value methods (BBVMs), a class of compact block boundary value methods (CBBVMs) for SDEACs are suggested. It is proved under some suitable conditions that the CBBVMs are convergent of order 4 in space and order p in time, where p is the local order of the used BBVMs, and are globally stable. With several numerical experiments for Fisher equation with delay and algebraic constraint, the computational effectiveness and theoretical results of CBBVMs are further illustrated.  相似文献

We introduce a time semi-discretization of a damped wave equation by a SAV scheme with second order accuracy. The energy dissipation law is shown to hold without any restriction on the time step. We prove that any sequence generated by the scheme converges to a steady state (up to a subsequence). We notice that the steady state equation associated to the SAV scheme is a modified version of the steady state equation associated to the damped wave equation. We show that a similar result holds for a SAV fully discrete version of the Cahn-Hilliard equation and we compare numerically the two steady state equations.  相似文献
