On the Computational Complexity of the Rooted Subtree Prune and Regraft Distance

The graph-theoretic operation of rooted subtree prune and regraft is increasingly being used as a tool for understanding and modelling reticulation events in evolutionary biology. In this paper, we show that computing the rooted subtree prune and regraft distance between two rooted binary phylogenetic trees on the same label set is NP-hard. This resolves a longstanding open problem. Furthermore, we show that this distance is fixed parameter tractable when parameterised by the distance between the two trees.Received March 16, 2004     

Cochran's statistical theorem for outer inverses of matrices and matrix quadratic forms

We extend the matrix version of Cochran's statistical theorem to outer inverses of a matrix. As applications, we investigate the Wishartness and independence of matrix quadratic forms for Kronecker product covariance structures.

Nature of π-Electronic Transitions in UV Spectra of Deoxyvasicinone and Its Derivatives

The principal types of electronic transitions in absorption spectra of deoxyvasicinone and its 6-amino- and 6-nitro-derivatives were determined by analyzing the electron-density distributions in excited states calculated using ZINDO/S.     

More on Kleinewillinghöfer Types of Flat Laguerre Planes

Polster and Steinke [Result. Math., 46 (2004), 103–122] determined the possible Kleinewillingh?fer types of flat Laguerre planes. These types reflect transitivity properties of groups of certain central automorphisms. We exclude three more types from the list given there with respect to Laguerre homotheties. This yields a complete determination of all possible single types with respect to Laguerre homotheties that can occur in flat Laguerre planes. Building on results by M?urer and Hartmann to characterize ovoidal or miquelian Laguerre planes we further characterize certain flat Laguerre planes in terms of their Kleinewillingh?fer types. 富勒烯 (C60 /C70 )与N ,N ,N′ ,N′ 四 (对甲苯基 ) 4,4′ 二胺 1,1′ 二苯硒醚 (TPDASe)间在激光光诱导条件下 ,发生了分子间的电子转移过程 .在可见 -近红外区 ( 60 0～ 12 0 0nm) ,观测到了TPDASe阳离子自由基、富勒烯 (C60 /C70 )激发三线态和阴离子自由基 ,在苯腈溶液中 ,观测瞬态谱测定了电子从TPDASe转移到富勒烯 (C60 /C70 )激发三线态的量子转化产率(ΦTet)和电子转移常数 (Ket) .
