Summary For the treatment of the information exchanged by the biological system and the external world, the concept of information amount is not sufficient because of their remoteness from equilibrium states. Further explanations are, in fact, necessary about the effects of the reception of the message,i.e. its information value that is then necessary to define for each case. We have, therefore, defined the information value of a gene and of a protein and analysed a sample of about hundred genes looking for some significative regularity in the frequency of usage of codons and amino acids allowing us to individualize the salient characteristics of a translated sequence of codons. We have found that the most used amino acids have, on the average, a low information value and, for each amino acid type, the most used codons have a lower information value. Moreover, we can say that the composition in amino acids or in codons of a sequence useful for the biological systems is such that more frequent mutations cause the smaller variation in the phenotype. All that shows that our definitions well describe the system of transmission and reception of the information value in a biological organism and that they can be considered as an index of its efficiency,i.e. of its ability to minimize the effects of the mutation of the genotype on the phenotype. The time differential perturbed angular correlation technique has been used in the measurement of the electric quadrupole interaction of Ta impuritiy in bismuth metal. The interaction frequencies at 293, 400 and 500 K have been observed to be 288±1.5, 266.9±3 and 244.5±4.3 MHz respectively. The electric field gradient at 293 K is 4.75±0.3 × 1017 V/cm2 with the temperature coefficientB=2.2±0.2 × 10−5 (K)−3/2.  相似文献

The effects of ionene polymers (6,3-ionene, 6,6-ionene, 6,8-ionene, and 6,12-ionene) with various charge densities upon association constants K for the complexation between flavin mononucleotide and indoleacetate have been studied. Except for 6,12-ionene, K increases with increasing polymer concentration then passes through a maximum, and declines at high polymer concentrations. The value of the maximum K increases in the order 6,8-ionene > 6,3-ionene > 6,6-ionene. In contrast, 6,12-ionene gives only a monotone increasing curve with increasing polymer concentration. These curves are analyzed using the theory of the partition coefficient proposed in the previous paper. The types of the curves that the theory predicts are classified in greater detail than in the previous paper, and examples are given. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Summary We discuss some new ideas for improving first-principle muffin-tin orbital-type electronic-structure calculations for complex crystals such as ternary and multinary compounds. The new ideas include construction of generalized muffin-tin orbitals and energy-dependent double MTO basis sets, cellular decomposition based on strongly overlapping atomic spheres and evaluation of matrix elements in the residual interstitial region by extrapolation. Moiré and microscopic moiré interferometry are reviewed as they are applied to thermal deformation analyses of microelectronics devices. Applications to diverse problems are illustrated to demonstrate wide applicability of the methods.
