Polarization switching (PS) dynamics and synchronization
performances of two mutually coupled vertical-cavity
surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are studied theoretically in
this paper. A group of dimensionless rate equations is derived
to describe our model. While analysing the PS characteristics,
we focus on the effects of coupling rate and frequency detuning
regarding different mutual injection types. The results indicate
that the x-mode injection defers the occurrence of PS, while
the y-mode injection leads the PS to occur at a lower current.
Strong enough polarization-selective injection can suppress the
PS. Moreover, if frequency detuning is considered, the effects
of polarization-selective mutual injection will be weakened. To
evaluate the synchronization performance, the correlation
coefficients and output dynamics of VCSELs with both pure mode
and mixed mode polarizations are given. It is found that
performance of complete synchronization is sensitive to the
frequency mismatch but it is little affected by mixed mode
polarizations, which is opposite to the case of
injection-locking synchronization. 相似文献

An analytical model to calculate electroluminescence (EL) efficiency of bilayer organic light-emitting devices, considering the influence of introducing LiF insulating buffer layer at metal/organic interface on the barrier height for electron injection, was presented. The relations of EL efficiency versus the applied voltage and injection barrier or internal interfacial barrier or the thickness of organic layer were discussed. The results indicate that: (1) when δ e/δ h < 2, metal/organic (M/O) interface is ohmic contact; when δ e/δ h > 2, M/O becomes contact limited; and when δ e/δ h = 2 (Φ h ~ 0.2 eV, Φ e ~ 0.3 eV), there is a transition from ohmic contact to contact limited; (2) η EL decreases with the increase of δ′e / δ′h; however, when δ′e / δ′h > 2.5 (H ′h~ 0.2 eV, H ′e~ 0.4 eV), the changes of η EL are very small, which shows that η EL is dominated by the carrier’s injection; (3) when increasing Lh/L, η R has a descending trend at low voltage and a rising one at higher voltage. For a given Lh/L, η EL first increases and then decreases with the increasing applied voltage, and as Lh/L further increases, the variation tendency of η EL is more obvious. We numerically investigate the complete chaotic synchronization mechanism of polarization mode of VCSEL with anisotropic optical feedback. Firstly, the synchronization quality of the x-linear polarization (LP) mode and the y-LP mode are both periodically changed with the angle θ between the polarizer and the light axes. Secondly, in a enough large scale region of the feedback coefficient and the injection current, where each LP mode can obtained good synchronization quality when the angle θ exists in the former half period region and the injection current is fixed at a certain value, which is over the threshold current. Under this condition, their synchronization quality is independent of the polarization states. By contrast, in the latter half period region of the angle θ where each LP mode can be obtained very instable and inferior synchronized quality. At last, the robustness of the synchronization scheme is sensitive to the internal and external parameter mismatch between the transmitter-VCSEL and the receiver-VCSEL. 相似文献

基于半导体激光器(SL)受到外部扰动(光反馈和光注入)下的速率方程组,研究了反馈系数、延迟时间、注入强度和频率失谐对半导体激光器输出混沌信号自相关特性的影响.研究表明:上述四个参量对SL输出混沌信号的自相关函数曲线的半高全宽(FWHM)以及边峰抑制比都有影响;通过合理选择各参量,可以使SL输出的混沌信号具有尖锐的自相关函数曲线分布,其FWHM可降到0.02 ns,比已有相关报道提高了一个数量级.
