2. Mitteilung: Tetraphenylarsoniumverbindungen und Pentaphenylarsen

Es wurde ein Trennverfahren ausgeabeitet, das es gestattet, die Aktivitätsausbeuten für Mono-, Di- und Triphenylarsenverbindungen, für Tetraphenylarsoniumverbindungen und für Pentaphenylarsen sowie für nicht organisch gebundenes Arsen in neutronenbestrahlten Tetraphenylarsoniumver erbindungen und in Pentaphenylarsen zu bestimmen. Als Trennmethoden werden Extraktion, Ionenaustauwsch und Al₂O₃-Chromatographic benutzt. Zur Reinigung und Ausbeutebestimmung von Di- und Triphenylarsenprodukten sowie von Tetraphenylarsonimverbindungen finden Kristallisations- bzw. Fällungsreaktionen Anwendung unter Ausnutzung des Prinzips der Isotopenverdünnungsanalyse.     

Open‐cage fullerenes as tailor‐made container for a single water molecule

Water is the most important liquid on earth. Clusters of water have been investigated extensively in an effort to understand the bulk property of water. But the behavior of single water molecule without H‐bond has been rarely studied. Open‐cage [60]fullerenes have been shown to trap a single water molecule selectively over molecules with comparable size and act as the smallest “water bottle”. Clicked (AB)2C‐type miktoarm terpolymers: Synthesis,thermal and self‐assembly properties,and preparation of nanoporous materials

A well‐defined (PEO‐PS)₂‐PLA miktoarm terpolymer ( 1 ) was synthesized by stepwise click reactions of individually prepared poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), polystyrene (PS, polymerized by atom transfer radical polymerization), and polylactide (PLA, polymerized by ring‐opening polymerization) blocks. As characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and small‐angle X‐ray scattering techniques, the terpolymer self‐assembled into a hexagonal columnar structure consisting of PLA/PEO cylindrical cores surrounded by PS chains. In contrast, the ion‐doped sample ( 1‐Li⁺ ) with lithium concentration per ethylene oxide = 0.2 exhibited a three‐phase lamellar structure, which was attributed to the microphase separation between PEO and PLA blocks and to the conformational stabilization of the longest PLA chain. The two‐phase columnar morphology before the ion doping was used to prepare a nanoporous material. PLA chains in the cylindrical core region were hydrolyzed by sodium hydroxide, producing nanopores with a pore diameter of about 14 nm. The resulted nanoporous material sank to the bottom in water, because of water‐compatible PEO chains on the walls. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2013     

Easy and effective method to produce functionalized particles for cellular uptake

In this contribution, a versatile approach for the synthesis of functionalized particles for drug delivery is presented, using two nonaggressive standardized procedures. The first procedure considered is the functionalization of an azido‐terminated α‐norbornenyl poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) macromonomer with an alkyne‐containing active molecule via the copper catalyzed azide alkyne cycloaddition, click type reaction. The functionalized macromonomer is then polymerized by Ring‐Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) in dispersion to form functionalized particles. The second procedure consists in synthesizing particles by ROMP in dispersed media of norbornene with azido‐terminated α‐norbornenyl PEO macromonomer. The ROMP was initiated by the first generation Grubbs catalyst. Such functionalized core‐shell particles have stealthy properties due to their PEO shell and can be viewed as universal nanocarriers on which any alkyne‐modified active molecule can be grafted by click chemistry. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An Efficient Four‐component Synthesis of Spiro[indoline‐pyrazolo[4′,3′:5,6]pyrido[2,3‐d]pyrimidine]triones

A four‐component reaction in the presence of Alum [KAl(SO₄)₂·12H₂O] as an inexpensive and reusable catalyst using the ionic liquid as an effective green reaction media is reported.     

A Novel One Pot Synthesis of o‐Nitrophenylacetic Acid and Unexpected p‐Nitrobenzoic Acid by HNO3‐Mediated CH2 Extrusion Reaction of Phenylacetic Acid

The HNO₃‐mediated CH₂ extrusion reactions of phenylacetic acid lead to one pot synthesis of unexpected commercially important product 4‐nitrobenzoic acid through the formation of 4‐nitrophenylacetic acid and 2‐nitrophenylacetic acid.
