Air‐formed oxide on a CuAl2 model alloy is shown to be free of copper species, with copper enriching in the alloy. With thickening of the oxide by anodizing, copper enriches further to a critical concentration at which its oxidation proceeds with incorporation of Cu(II) species into the film. Such species migrate more rapidly through the film than aluminium species. Incorporation of copper species is associated with generation of oxygen gas within the film and subsequent film rupture is due to release of the gas. Reduction of Cu(II) to Cu(I) species during XPS analysis is characterized and the accelerating role of charge neutralizing is highlighted. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Electrolytic manganese is an important alloying element for aluminium and steel melts. It is mainly added to melts of aluminium
in the holding furnace as tablets or minitablets (compressed compacts of manganese and aluminium powders). Selenium derivates
are usually added during the production of electrolytic manganese, so some selenium is present in the alloys produced when
electrolytic manganese is added to the aluminium furnace. Since the selenium contents of many alloys are of concern from health
and environmental perspectives, their values should be provided. In this work, a laboratory reference material (LRM) based
on electrolytic manganese was produced to assure our routine quality control method, where selenium is analysed by hydride
generation followed by optical emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (HG–ICP–OES). Therefore, the present
paper describes in detail the preparation procedure for and the results from homogeneity and stability studies performed on
electrolytic manganese LRM. For this purpose, a commercial electrolytic manganese lot was selected and the main factors involved
in the preparation of the material (pretreatment step, homogenization, bottling and storage) were carefully studied and established
in order to guarantee the long-term stability of the LRM. The results obtained showed that the LRM developed was a fit-for-purpose

Homogeneous mixed-metal oxides of the general formula (Bi/E/Si)O
x
, where E represents a dopant element (E=Sb, Sn, or Sb/Sn), can be prepared using typical sol-gel processing techniques. Reduction of the in-situ Bi(III) and E ions by hydrogen affords nanocomposites of Bi-Sb, Bi-Sn, or Bi-Sb-Sn widely dispersed throughout the silica xerogel matrix. The materials prepared have high Bi-E metal loading of 52–60 wt. % containing Bi-E alloy nanoclusters of 12–15 nm average diameter. These results demonstrate a convenient method for the production of practical quantities of nanostructured bismuth alloy ceramic composites at high metal content. 相似文献

A procedure based on differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry on the graphite electrode is described for the determination of dissolved manganese in natural waters buffered at pH about 6.5 with acetate solution. In order to avoid interference of iron(II) the addition of fluoride is used. The limit of detection is 3 g/l for a deposition time of 6 min. Acidification and UV-irradiation are recommended for samples containing dissolved organic matter. [Mn(3)(OH)(2)(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)] and its deuterated analogue were synthesized by a hydrothermal technique and characterized by differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and IR spectroscopy. Its nuclear structure, determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis and Rietveld analysis of neutron powder-diffraction data, consists of a 3D network of chains of edge-sharing Mn(1)O(6), running along the c axis, connected by the apices of Mn(2)O(6) and SO(4) units. It is isostructural to the nickel analogue. Determination of the magnetic structure and measurements of magnetization and heat capacity indicate the coexistence of both magnetic long-range ordering (LRO) and short-range ordering (SRO) below a Néel temperature of 26 K, while the SRO is retained at higher temperatures. The moments of the two independent Mn atoms lie in the bc plane, and that of Mn(1) rotates continuously by 54 degrees towards the c axis on decreasing the temperature from 25 to 1.4 K. While the SRO may be associated with frustration of the moments within a Mn(3) trimer, the LRO is achieved by antiparallel alignment of the four symmetry-related trimers within the magnetic unit cell. A spin-flop field, measured by dc and ac magnetization on a SQUID, is observed at 15 kOe. 相似文献

介绍用X-射线荧光光谱仪测定钛铁中Si、Mn、P、Al含量的方法,通过试验确定了合适的研磨时间、压力和保压时间,用压片法制样,建立了各元素的工作曲线,各元素的测定范围分别为Si3.00%~6.00%,Mn1.00%~3.00%,P0.030%~0.070%,Al5.00%~9.00%。通过强度测量得到测定Si、Mn、P、Al的相对标准偏差分别为0.074%、0.308%、0.383%、0.040%,精密度满足测试要求。将该方法测定结果与化学法比对,准确度满足国家标准方法分析误差的要求。 相似文献

The effects of three non‐chromate‐based deoxidizers, namely NaBrO3/HNO3, (NH4)4Ce(SO4)4/H2SO4 and Fe(III)/HF/HNO3, on the Al alloy 7475‐T7651 were investigated. Several analytical methods were employed, including SEM, AES, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron energy‐loss spectroscopy (EELS) and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (GDOES), to study the effects on the surface of this alloy after each treatment compared with the as‐received and alkaline‐cleaned alloy surfaces. The untreated alloy was found to have a thick oxide of 200–320 nm, consisting mainly of MgO. Alkaline cleaning results in an etching effect that thins the oxide and also deposits a thin silicate layer on the surface. In the case of the deoxidizers, there is significant removal of the native oxide of the alloy by the NaBrO3/HNO3 deoxidizer. There is also evidence of intermetallic attack on the alloy. The (NH4)4Ce(SO4)4/H2SO4 deoxidizer, which is a low‐etch‐rate deoxidizer, resulted in a slight thinning of the oxide. However, the effect was not significantly greater than with alkaline cleaning alone. The most effective deoxidizer in reducing the oxide thickness of the alloy is Fe(III)/HF/HNO3, in which the etch rate was sufficiently high to remove completely the native oxide.
