Summary A review of the correlations between gravitational-wave detectors and particle detectors during SN1987A is given. The correlation between the Maryland and Rome g.w. detectors with the Mont Blanc neutrino detector is illustrated. This correlation extends during a period of one or two hours centred at 2∶45 UT of 23 February 1987, with the ?neutrino? signals delayed by (1.1±0.5) s and with a probability of the order of 10−5 to be accidental. Using the data obtained with the Kamiokande and IMB detectors, with the same statistical choices and procedures for the data analysis used previously, the above result is confirmed with a probability of the order of 10−3 or 10−4 that the additional correlation be accidental. Automatic methods of photoelasticity have had a significant progress with the development of automatic acquisition and image processing methods. This article concerns RGB photoelasticity, which allows the determination of the photoelastic retardation using, usually, a single acquisition of the isochromatic fringes in white light by a colour camera. In particular, the article presents an overview of the main characteristics of RGB photoelasticity that is influence of the quarter-wave plate error, number of acquisitions, type of light source, determination of low and high fringe orders, methods for searching the retardation, scanning procedures, calibration on a material different from that under test, combined use of the RGB and phase shifting methods. A short section on the applications of RGB photoelasticity completes the article.  相似文献

A particle‐induced X‐ray emission (PIXE) technique has been used in the determination of the principal components Pb, Zr and Ti and the substituting elements Sr, Cr, Nb and La in lead zirconate titanate ceramics. In general, precision of analysis was concentration dependent from each element under study. For Pb, precision varied between 0.13% and 0.16%, at higher concentration of 59.32–64.5%. It was around 6–9% for Sr, Cr and Nb at concentrations of 1% or lower. Particular attention was devoted to the estimation of the analysis trueness. With this purpose, three methods were applied: (1) comparison of PIXE and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry concentrations, (2) recovery study and (3) comparison with a laboratory standard. Trueness of analysis was around 100 ± 10% for the evaluated elements Pb, Zr, Ti, Sr and Cr. The expected stoichiometry and elemental composition homogeneity of a wide group of produced ceramics were confirmed by the PIXE technique. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Precision clocks and interferometers in space can test relativistic gravity with extremely high sensitivity. Yet, only a single such test has been performed, namely the celebrated flight of a hydrogen maser in a sub-orbital trajectory in 1976 (GP-A mission). This paper suggests some of the obstacles to space flight of precision instruments, and describes how the emergence of new technology might offer a pathway for removing those obstacles. A brief review of emerging technologies is made, and new mission concepts based on them are described. Some of the technologies that can impact more tests of relativistic gravity in space at a more distant future are also described.  相似文献

Predicting the vibro-acoustic behaviour of a structure is usually done by using the well established finite element (FE) method and boundary element method. This paper presents a vibro-acoustic prediction case performed on a metal box using less accurate but simplified methods: sub-structuring for the calculation of the dynamic response of the structure, and a monopole distribution for the radiated noise calculation. Both are less accurate but faster methods than previous ones. An experimental validation was performed. It led to the conclusion that these methods give precise results and are sufficient for the pre-design of structures in the low frequency domain. However, this conclusion must be moderated by the fact that in spite of the simplicity of the structure, the FE model had to be adjusted to the experiments to yield to a result close to the experiments.  相似文献

Applications of the χ2 test, the F test, the Durbin-Watson d test, and the f (or Sign) test, to examples of correlated data treatment, show important drawbacks with the d test and (apparently) with the f test. An analytical approach based on residual analysis suggests an improvement in their use that leads to better results at lowest order; it also points out a distinction between goodness-of-fit tests, as the f test, and goodness-of-modeling tests, as the χ2 and F tests. The residual analysis method is applied to the same examples; it looks faster, simpler, and often more accurate than the classical ones.  相似文献

针对混合溶液中重金属元素的激光诱导击穿光谱(LIBS)测量系统,为提高测量系统的检测灵敏度,以提高混合溶液中Ca和Cr金属元素LIBS光谱线强度的信噪比为目标,对LIBS测量系统中的激光脉冲能量、液相样品流速、ICCD门宽、延时等实验参数进行了优化,得到最优化参数激光脉冲能量、样品流速、ICCD门宽、延时分别为35 m J、30 ml/min、1400 ns和2400 ns,为降低LIBS技术应用于混合溶液中痕量重金属元素的检出限提供了实验参数支撑.  相似文献
